this was fine
With the few exceptions where work was being done the course was in good shape. Fairways looked like fairways, greens looked like greens, etc...
Most of the holes were pretty straightforward and there were no surprises.
Avoid this course for now
This course is not in good shape right now. The entire 12th hole is closed for construction. The greens are shotty. Half of the tee boxes don’t exist they’re just random sticks placed at the end of the fairway. This place is just not what it used to be. I don’t know if I’ll ever play it again.
Renovation in progress
It turns out the course is being worked on. The front nine was closed and holes 12 & 14 on the back nine were closed. During booking, there was no indication that only 7 holes of the course were open for play.
Good Course
I rank it middle of the road. Straight forward layout. Par 4s side by side so can easily be on another fairway with a slice or hook.
Bensalem township needs to change their mindset, go to northampton or 5ponds. Byrnes is probably even better!
First off the actual course employees are good people who care about the course and the game of golf. BUT there are a few issues.
A) bar/restaurant which ain't good to begin with is closed for the slowest renovations on earth. So you even thought you respectfully want to support them by buying your drinks there you can't. You can't purchase anything beverage alcohol or non alcohol from anywhere on the course... the guy at the pro shop said they just sold it and where fixing it up... weird that a municipal golf course would sell the bar as a separate entity with it being a additional revenue stream... someone should look into it I would bet it was sold to someone below market value because the have a relationship with someone in the township... it seems like a back door deal why would a municipal course take away revenue in place of rent money...
2nd the starters need to use the tower they have advailible to them instead of lazily piling groups of people b2b... the old man who does this has no concept of the purpose of his job
3rd township was removing trees along the 3rd hole on the left but closed down hole 4 when they weren't even in the area. I asked th gentlemen nicely to play it and he responded with a attitude... I just took it as him being a miserable loser who hates his life so I didn't even continue the conversation
Then we get to hole 10 where there is plenty of parking for contractors behind the bathrooms but they choose to park their trucks on the cart path, again not respecting the players who pay 60 bucks for a rd for a township course that helps pay their salaries... and of course no employee would ever ask them to move(God forbid) again I just take this as a flex from them because deep down they hate themselves so this is their way of inconveniencing people
Then we to hole 12 another closed hole....
For 60bucks the proshop should make people aware of this. Missing 4 out of 18 hole is not acceptable to still be charging that rate....
Overall there are better courses and deals in the area look in them... this place is going to be hurting outside of their regulars who think their playing a TPC course for awhile atleast until their mindset changes and they go back to being patron first. I'll start driving past the course to go to others
Not a fan
Got told to keep up with the pace of play after the first hole. Meanwhile the group in front of us made us wait on every tee box and we didn’t get to finish the round (we teed off at 12), and the ranger never asked them to pick up the pace.
early morning round
I used to work at parx 10 years ago, so this was the first time i played in a long time, course was in great shape the greens were challenging, staff was great
Course was in poor shape. Tees boxes were awful, none of the sand traps were raked with grass growing in, greens were punched (never mentioned before booking) and dead in spots, and the round took 5 hours
Great course
Great course and staff , improvements are noticeable !
Bucks County Gem
Make sure to bring your A game. This course will test every club in your bag. Tough greens and tight at times. Well worth the money!
