About
Deer Haven Golf Club is an executive course that originally opened as a nine-hole course in 1996. The original design was intended for beginning to intermediate golfers, but a more challenging back nine was added to give the course more appeal to a wider range of skill levels. The tighter back nine has lengthy par 3s and par 4s that will test your ability to hit long and straight. It might be shorter than a championship course but it offers many of the same challenges. Trees frame most of the holes and there are a few strategically placed bunkers to watch out for. Water hazards come into play on three holes at Deer Haven Golf Club, perhaps moat memorably on the eighth. Golfers have to carry a stream that cuts across this par 3 in order to make it to the green.

Beginner Course
This is a course for a beginning golfer. Greens were well maintained. Fairways were okay, some tee boxes though weren't cut well. It is an easy course with a couple of challenging holes. A lot of the holes are cut out of a field of weeds. This was frustrating for one of the golfers I was with because if his ball wasn't in the fairway it was in these 5-6 ft tall weeds. And you aren't going to go into them to find your ball. So most courses where this would be trees or high grass that you can pitch out of to get to the fairway instead you have a lost ball. So while this is a course for beginner golfers it's tough for them when they are losing a ball every hole.
But the two staff members I met were real nice. The greens and areas around the greens were in good shape.

course has par 3s and 4s but on the 4s you have to keep it very
straight. If you go off the fairway there is probably a 99% chance that you will loose your ball because the rough is so thick
Worst Course I've Ever Played
This course is in terrible shape and the layout is absurd. No sand traps, greens were awful, huge patches everywhere, and even a broken sprinkler shooting water all over. It is the single worst course I've ever played, save your money.
Fairly Challenging
This course, despite its relative shortness, is pretty challenging due to shapes of the holes and natural features. The greens and tee boxes could use some better mowing/landscaping, but it was worth the discounted price.
Family friendly
There were many groups with young children - which I thought was great until they slipped a Mom, Dad and young son in front of us on the 10th hole. Really slowed us down.
Not a nice course.
Among corn fields and mud. Fairways were non-existent and tee boxes poor and not cut short. greens were fair at best and too slow. Not picturesque or a good venue for golf. I would not play there again.
OK course layout, a couple of tuff holes plays quick.
several of the par 4 holes have been ruined by last summers drought and haven't been maintained very good.

Quirky and Fun
The course yardage is short, but creativity is required to make it around this course in par. Quirky doglegs and trees that force decisions not normally required make this course a unique challenge. Local knowledge would be a big plus here.
Nice quick 9 hole course.
The greens were in great shape. Recent rains had the fairways a little soggy. A nice scenic course.
