La Belle Golf Club
La Belle Golf Club, formerly Rolling Hills Country Club and Lac La Belle Golf Course, has a history that dates back to the late 19th century. Although the course changed ownership in 2007, not much else about it has changed. Over the years it has garnered a reputation amongst locals for being one of the best golf courses in southeastern Wisconsin. The course wanders across lush, gently rolling countryside that is studded with stands of mature trees. Meandering streams come into play, as do strategically placed bunkers. The classic layout has a character that you won't find on modern courses but its challenges and playability have withstood the test of time. Beginners can approach the golf course with confidence while more advanced players can enjoy a casual round that still offers a challenge.

Lac La Belle is a must play.
Lac La Belle is a dyed in the wool old style course. You HAVE to hit it straight off the tee. Greens are small and speedy. Up and downs aren't easy.
I really enjoyed the course! It sort of lulls you into making mistakes. You have to pay attention to where you are hitting it.
Amenities are outdated etc. Grass isn't consistent everywhere, but the layout makes up for everything. If someone would dump money into the paths, sand traps, and get some of the grass more consistent, it would be pretty great. Realistically, I don't think a major investment would work. Even though the course is smack dab in a high dollar area, I don't see people paying a lot to play there especially when they have to compete with BristleCone's amenities.
The course is very good even at its current condition. I will come back to it periodically to test my abilities.
The new owners are making improvements, hope they get some sand in the bunkers soon. The greens run true. most of the tee shots require good placement to have a good second shot.
Best 6500 yard track out there
Play this course regularly. Course is in great shape. Great recovery from the storm earlier in the summer. Bunkers and cart paths need work, some holes on the back nine need drainage issues addressed, the tee boxes need to be leveled out course wide. A Labelle handicap carries well though. Challenging but rewards accurate, smart play
Trees growing into Fairways
This former County Club course is very challenging. There are a number of difficult holes and the greens are tough - which is to be expected.
But what I and my golf partner don't like is your ball can be on the Fairway and you can't hit the ball straight at the green because of tree limbs and branches hanging into the Fairway.
If these branches and limbs would be cut back, the course would be much improved.
Getting better all the time.
I play this course quite often, I see all the improvements the new owners are making. The bunkers are more like dirt than sand, I hope they get some sand in them soon.
Nice Course but.....
The course was in good shape despite wet weather. The staff refuses to honor rates that are posted online on their site. They use the excuse that a third party operates the booking function and "they" don't always have the right information. Unfortunately this has happened to me more than once at this course. This is a real turn off and needs to change for this place to be successful.
we golfed this prior to outing following day. we were all glad we did. having and listening to yardage on phone app was essential. can be very hard to find next holes and placing ball. would do again. greens sloped and very challenging.
I was happy with layout of course and was well maintained. The address of the course given was not recognized by GPS. Took extra 45 mts to locate through intersection.
fun and challenging
I play this course about 6 times per year.
I can see the improvements the new owners are making, it keeps getting better.
I like the bones of this course, it's been around for a 100 years, itneeds attention to drainage and path conditions. The new owners have made progress, when they bought it a lot needed to be done. If the investment s made it can be a class golf course
Golf was very nice. Was cart path only which usually isn't a big deal but LaBelle has horrible cart paths. Broken asphalt all over, bumps and potholes, overgrown with grass so you can't see them etc.
Can't blame the weather since they have been this way for years. Too bad.
Will not be back
I played this course many times in the past leading up to 2015 when I had my first very bad experience with them being out of ice, my beverage of choice, and any hotdog or brat. And since the staff was not willing to do anything to make me happy I chose to not come back. That was until Thursday the 29th of june when I was unable to find a course that had an available time. I went on the web site and it redirected me to golfnow for a discounted tee time which I was pleased with. After 2 of us driving over 40 minutes to the golf course I was told the course was not open do to the storms the previous day.. I asked the employees why I was able to make the tee time online if the course was closed? Or at the very least why was I not contacted to be told the course was closed? No answer was given and after minutes trying to figure out how to have my purchase credited back I left again. As the Manager of a restaurant I can understand how things happen, but when it is my fault I do what I need to to in order to keep a customer! This place has not so they will lose 1.
Best 6500 yard course in the area. Labelle handicap carries well everywhere. Course does not hold up well with all the rain, never has. But it is in great shape considering. Bunkers needs work. Most of the staff is awesome, a couple of rotten apples. I have loved this course for years, but a few holes have had drainage issues for years, even when it was private.
Fair But tough tree-lined course
Good and fair test of golf. Narrow in places with many mature trees. Interesting holes throughout. I'd rank it a 4.5 but the rating scale won't let you do that. Only complaint was Willies Pub was not open when we were there. A thunderstorm rolled in cancelling our last 3 holes and Willies would have been a great place to watch the storm. C'mon guys, it's freakin Wisconsin!! Open the pub when the course is open. It's a very nice place.
Greens were good. Not super fast. Had some good slope to them. Most fairways were good but some were super wet. Easy to hit it fat. Bunkers are a weak spot. The dry ones had little sand. The wet ones were unplayable. Overall a 3 star course with 1 star bunkers.
Gem of a course
This is a great course. From the moment you drive up to the clubhouse, you know you are in for a treat. Though it was busy, the staff was friendly and several offered to assist us. The carts were clean and ready to go. It appears they have done some work on the course this summer and it plays great - if you can control yourself off the tee. If you can work a draw or fade at will, you will be in the center of the fairway and in great shape. If not, you will likely be hitting from the trees (which is doable in most cases we found). I believe you can score very well if you can hit around 180-200 off the tee. Only a few holes allow you to go farther than that anyway - if you can't turn the ball right or left. The slicer in me did like that I didn't have to hit a draw every hole to do well, it seemed equally setup for draw or fade. The only poor item was the sand - it was harder than I am used to. BUT it did rain the night before so that could be part of it. Some of the bunkers are very intimidating which adds to the fun! Just stay out of them and you will be fine :) I will definitely be playing here again!
Very mature course
It appears they are clearing out a lot of the under brush to aid in playability and appearance. We have always enjoyed the variety on this course.
