Glen Cairn Golf Course
About
Glen Cairn Golf Course in Ogdensburg is laid across a diverse terrain of woodlands, grassy meadows, and marshlands. The course was carefully carved from over 160 acres of lush, rolling countryside. As its name would indicate, the course draws inspiration from the traditions of British Isles golf. Golfers can enjoy a round of traditional Scottish links all while being only 20 minutes from Waupaca. The two nines, the Thistle and the Heathers respectively, each offer a different set of challenges. The front nine has shorter, tighter holes, while the tree-lined back nine will test both your distance and your accuracy. There is only one water hazard, a lake that comes into play on the third hole. The bunkering is also somewhat sparse although not on the par-3 eighth hole where the green is almost entirely surrounded by sand.

Great Course
Course is nicely wooded and the layout is very nice. The yardage is a little on the shorter side but a lot of added obstacles to make the course a challenge.
Challenging but in poor condition
Played as a two-some. Passed two groups but a third wouldn't let us through for 6 holes on the back. That was very frustrating as they were playing quite slow. The tees were beat up and the fairways were hard to distinguish from the rough. The greens had damage but rolled true enough. The layout is quite interesting in places, with a few more blind shots than I care for. Playing it frequently would help to understand where a lay-up or shorter club off the tee would prove valuable. All in all a decent value at a discounted price.
Still maturing
A nice challenge for the average golfer, a little winter kill on greens. Overall satisfactory.
Good course for the price.
Played 18 holes with my son and was a good time. Very good scenery
Very nice layout
The course has a nice layout and is a good value for price paid on Golf Now. The staff is very friendly and made an impression on us being that it was the first time we played this course.
Nice course
My wife and I had a great time @ Glen Cairn. Since we are ave players at best, we loved the pace of play and the friendliness of the place. Fun holes. Terrain was challenging. Thank you Glen Cairn as we'll be back.
Course should be closed
This course should not be open. There is no staff on site. There is no maintenance being done. Greens are covered with debris.
A little bit out of the way---but worth the trip!!
Played in mid-October in Wisconsin--cloudy, cold and an occasional mist--but we really enjoyed this course. Has a combination of tree lined fairways and wide open holes. We were actually the only ones on the course at 3:00. Nice par 3's and several holes with huge boulders and large sand traps. Lady that checked us in was very friendly and was waiting for us, "her golf now" players as we were the only ones there!! Holes layed out very nicely with elevation changes. Greens were REALLY slow, but it is the end of the season here in Wisconsin. Looking forward to returning next summer when the weather is nicer!!
Out in the middle of nowhere and nothing special to make you come back
I have heard this course advertised on the radio, and I have always wanted to try it. I finally got around to doing it and drove more than an hour to get to Glen Carin and was disappointed most the day. I was disappointed that their website didn't make anyone aware that they were aerating the greens WHILE I was playing. The pins were out on the majority of the front nine. I had to drive to the green, look at the green and discover where the hole was hit my approach and then count two for putts and walk away. The greens had a nice quarter inch of sand on them. It would have been nice for the course to announce their schedule which would affect their customers.
Thankfully the back nine was untouched and was much better. The greens were fast but soft. The fairways were hard as a rock and offered quite the roll for big hitters. The course layout was unique. I wasn't impressed by the course though. there was nothing special that I was wowed by that I would ever go out of my way to golf again. The greens like I said were ok, fairways were ok, the tee boxes were poor to fair. If you are close by I understand why you would golf here, but there are definitely better courses around in New London and Waupaca.
Super Nice Course!
Nice course with the exception of a couple of gimmicky holes. It was in great shape. Greens were very consistant. Would play again in a heart beat.
Doesn't ever seem to be too crowded. Love the hilly scenery
The best shape this course has been in for quite a while. Clubhouse has new bar area updated.
Rolling hills.
The gravel and dusty parking lot had us wondering if we had made a poor golfing choice. But the course is a very interesting blend of elevation changes and rolling hills. The fairways were a little dry do to lack of rain. The greens were in very good condition. Some of the fairways were a little difficult to figure out where they went for first time golfers. Lots of hidden greens.
Some very beautiful par 3s. Lack of drinking water on course is a minus. Had a very nice time. Would go back again if we lived closer.
Best kept secret
This course is tucked away in the middle of no where and what a diamond in the ruff. Great course with just a little bit of everything for every level of play
Nice golf course. Great value.
Overall, a very good course with nice variety and some
very challenging holes.
Condition was good; some fairways are better than others.
Greens are good; however inconsistent . Some are in great condition; others average.
A very good value and a course I would play again.
Slice of Irish in Wisconsin
First off, I must say that the staff might be the friendliest group on any course I have played. The course layout was beautiful and presented a nice challenge with elevation changes, blind shots, and carries over natural settings. If I had the chance I would have played it again while I was there. You made this Irishman a happy golfer. Slainte good people of Glen Cairn!
Hard to find..Tough to beat..
This course has excellent hole development cut into existing natural terrain. Large greens. Very good green to tee markings that welcomed a newcomer. By no means a 5 star, but I will play it again in a heart beat.
One of the tighest off the tee I have ever played. But that was not all bad.
The course was not all that bad in shape. I thought a little dry (you got a lot of run in the fairway because of the dryness), but I think that came with the recent weather conditions. Greens were also in good shape and looked to be well kept up.
Overall I thought a very interesting layout -- I am not used to three par 5s and two par 3s on one side (front nine). But that is O.K. because you need to adapt to the course you are playing.
Pro shop/clubhouse was not much but the staff still were very friendly.
There appeared to be no driving range, but there was a very large putting green.
All in all I and my playing partners had a good time.
Absolutely beautiful hilly layout and backdrop.
Once again, we were offered an outstanding price and value for such a fun course to play. Greens are a bit slow but are in good shape and roll true. So many pretty holes and views throughout. Trees, hills, etc...
Playable course
Course is in nice shape with all the rain we've had. The greens are a little slow and fuzzy (not used to slow greens). But I don't think the price can be beat in the area. Over all not a bad course, and I would golf it again.
This course has a nice layout
Course is great shape, is well maintained and has a large amount of flowers planted and more were being added the day we played.
