fun round despite wet slow geeens
mother nature provided the moisture on already slow greens making rolling putts impossible. other than that course in great shape!
Wish I lived closer
I drove 80 minutes to play Blackwood for a second time this year. Their was a few spots that showed wear and damage from the summer. But, we could see they are working on it. Some tee boxes had been aerated. Most were nice as were the greens. Some elevation changes and some water. Over all, well worth the drive for a deal. Also would consider for the asking rack rate of $45 if I lived closer
Wide Open and Decent Shape
The course is not overly punishing for missing fairways. The greens were in good shape and fairly challenging being in the mountains. The fairways didn't run at all. The rough was thin in spots, but mostly crab grass, which made things more challenging. Several tee boxes needed complete reseeding. The bar had basic food and affordable drinks.
What Happened ????
We have loved this course for 20 years.It was always in country club condition but what happened.The tee boxes are horrible and the fairways either have bare spots or weeds.The area leading up to the greens are bare and a real mess. The greens are still in good shape and the sand traps are ok. I hope they get it back in shape we love playing this course.

Fun
Great for a beginner fairways are forgiving (had one in our group) but they are a non-alcoholic beverage On course place.
Not worth the money
Not worth the money at all. Highly disappointed with the fairways and tee boxes. Lots of dead grass in the middle of the fairways, leaving you with a horrible lie after hitting a good drive. Tee boxes are chewed up and like concrete. The greens were very nice, which is why I'm giving it 2 stars. There's no water jugs on the course at all.

Not worth the money
The condition of the course did not warrant the $47 we paid. The fairways had mud patches and many areas of dead grass. The tee boxes were not well maintained and the ground on many of them were like concrete. I will say that the greens were very well maintained for the most part. There are no water jugs for drinks anywhere on the course.

Course needs work
The course layout is nice, not really challenging but nice overall. The pace of play for a Saturday morning was great. The greens were a bit slow and in need of some grooming but they ran true and were very playable. The tees and fairways were a disaster. Someone needs to explain to the superintendent that crabgrass is not a substitute for grass on a golf course. Realizing the recent flooding residue was an issue in some places and that can't be helped, the bulk of the course is overrun with crabgrass. Please invest in some herbicide and sharpen the mower blades. We cannot recommend this course to anyone at this point..

Disappointed
We have played Blackwood in the past. It was always a good time with good course conditions. Yesterday was a big surprise. Crabgrass has taken over the course. The only satisfying part was the greens. There was no water out on the course either. When I mentioned it to the man is the pro shop, he didn’t react. They’ve lost the course. I like the design but would not go back this season.

Not worth the money
Played today and it was 95+ degrees . No water available on any of the holes.fairsways were not cut appropriately 1 1/2 -2 inches long. As a first time player not much signage showing where to go hole to hole. People constantly playing in our fairways due to course layout. Tree placement made no sense. Actually crushed a drive on one hole and rolled off the fairway 6 ft and ended up behind a tree. Now I know they were the only course within 30 miles with am tee times available.

Always in Great Shape
We play this course at least 5 times a year and it's always in great shape.The layout is very interesting with water on many of the back holes.

Try to get a foursome
We booked for three golfers and Golf Now scheduled a single to play with us. I guess there is no way to know the single would be ignorant. He used profanity on every hole. He blamed his poor play on the course, the players ahead of us, the golf balls and everything but his poor ability. We determine why he was a single!
As advertised 4+ stars
Blackwood is a solid 4+ course. In my opinion, one of the best courses for value, playability and conditions. It does get a little tight in some spots. In that greens and tee boxes are a little close together sometimes. . But that didn’t stop me from completely enjoying my first time at Blackwood. And looking forward to returning again this year.
