Disappointed
They were tesodding tees and put tee markers in front of the shortest teees on many holes. Should have been told of this condition when booking the tee time.
Course feeling a bit tired
I've played this course several times over the past year, to include warm-ish days this winter/spring. It's close to my home, and convenient.
It's popular and well-trodden. The greens in particular were quite rough - putts bouncing quite a bit. I've played several courses in the area, and am not a golf snob, but these were below par. It looks that they aerated (larger holes than most aerated greens) over the winter, and dropped quite a bit of sand on the greens. I'm assuming they are letting things grow out a bit, but the greens really need some attention.
The course invested quite a bit over the winter removing trees and rebuilding several tee boxes (that remain closed until the weather improves for sodding I expect).
No driving range available - just a few nets to hit into. They also don't offer any discount for walking vice riding.

Solid course
Course could use a little work on conditions. Nice layout, challenging but able to score well.
Poor customer service and course conditions
I’ve played this course several times before and I’ve played many of the other courses around the area. First off, I had booked “with cart included” because my father who I was playing with is handicapped, but they offered no assistance or carts for handicapped players on Sunday March 26th. Was not granted a reimbursement for paying for the cart to be included. Nearly all of the tee boxes on the course were being redone so you were unable to tee off from any official tee boxes. Additionally, all of the bunkers were full of water, lacked drainage, and all of the greens had been arrogated recently so it was essentially like putting on bubble wrap. The course was basically unplayable, they denied my handicapped father a golf cart, and they charged me for a golf cart on top of refuseing it. I do not intend on spending my money on this course again, nor do I intend to recommend the course. I would refer people to any other of the dozens of courses around Chester County that are more compassionate and accommodating to people with disabilities and handicaps
Tee boxes under repair, fairways aerated and greens also aerated. It would have been nice if they told us that before we booked
Should have told you
No one stated that all of the greens were punched and covered with sand. In addition, many of the tees were under construction so the tee ground was from the front most position.
Off season round at Downingtown
This public course is really fun and good value in the shoulder season. The variety is good and the bunkering really good.
Great shape for February
A beautiful day for February so it was a bit crowded and slow but overall fine. A few tee boxes under repair but all others in decent shape. Fairways and greens all in good condition.
The only issue this time of the year at most courses in the area including this one is it is time to fertilize so it smells like sh..
Great Course
Love the layout
Good condition even in January
Nice staff too
Best 1st tee sign I ever saw
The first tee had a sign that advised which tee to play based on average drives. Made tee choice much easier than just looking at total yards. More courses should adopt this practice.
Course was in great shape but was surprised how slow the greens were for how well the course is maintained. They rolled true and were in good shape but were slower than I expect for a course that charges $90 to play. Minor complaint compared to how fun it us to play.
