Portage Country Club
About
Portage Country Club is situated along the scenic shores of Swan Lake. Opened in 1930, the golf course has a traditional layout that is both challenging and playable. At 6,356 yards from the back tees, it is shorter than most championship courses you will find today but the layout still has plenty to offer besides length. There is a mix of holes that are wide-open and some that are framed by stands of mature trees. The rolling terrain provides subtle but tricky undulations in the greens and fairways as well as the occasional double-tiered green. One of the most memorable holes for both its level of difficulty and the scenery is the par-4 third. This no. 1 handicap hole plays along the lake and forces you to keep a close eye on the target.

Nice easy course, somewhat confusing to get around, super friendly staff, super pretty views, members act a little entitled but other then that great course
greens to tough
First time. Loved the course, however my partner and I both thought the cup locations on steep hills on the greens were to difficult to putt. Unless you are putting mostly uphill, forget about it. It'll be at least a 3 putt.
nice track
I usually play Portage once a year when I'm there on vacation. I usually play mid mornings during the week and have never had an issue with slow play. The course is mostly wide open so it's forgiving for those who tend to spray the ball. Greens are large and always in great shape. It's too bad they put in some houses along the lake and lost #3 par 3 which is now 60 yards but that's progress I guess. I always enjoy playing here.
Nice course. Hard sand.
The course was in nice shape. Play was quick. Greens were fast. The sand traps were hard. Could have used some raking.
Nice Setting
Off the beaten path. Challenging greens - rough not too deep. Nice contours and the view from the restaurant/bar makes stopping in worthwhile.
A good challenge.
Greens were in great condition and fast. Some blind tee shots and technical hole layouts. A challenging course. It would be nice to play again after learning the layout better.
Challenging
The weather was very nice so alot of people out playing fairways and greens were covered in leafs so it was very hard to find the ball and hit a straight putt. It seems like a challenging course and your swings have to be on. The 4 some behind us kept holding us up because they were looking for there balls in are fairway. Don't think I'll return
