Portage Country Club
About
Portage Country Club is situated along the scenic shores of Swan Lake. Opened in 1930, the golf course has a traditional layout that is both challenging and playable. At 6,356 yards from the back tees, it is shorter than most championship courses you will find today but the layout still has plenty to offer besides length. There is a mix of holes that are wide-open and some that are framed by stands of mature trees. The rolling terrain provides subtle but tricky undulations in the greens and fairways as well as the occasional double-tiered green. One of the most memorable holes for both its level of difficulty and the scenery is the par-4 third. This no. 1 handicap hole plays along the lake and forces you to keep a close eye on the target.

Fall golf
Beautiful day perfect weather. Unfortunately being fall lots of leaves. Golf in November in short sleeves can’t complain!
Red Cross Golf
I left at least a pint of blood behind. Course is nice. Staff is nice. Price is fair for where it is and what you get. Nice layout. But. You honestly can't play here. I've never seen so many mosquitos. Most uncomfortable round of golf ever. Lake plus marsh = mosquitos. Maybe play in November. Or mid winter.
Portage Country Club
The course is in very good shape with some challenging holes. Par 3 down the hill was fun and overall a great value for the money.
Portage Club
Course is in great shape. Covid protections. This was first time playing in 4 years and we played 9 for my wife's birthday. The food at The Shores was excellent.
Great course Great people Great food
I love this course...I been playin here for years and it's never dull. It has a rustic Wisconsin look and feel with some beautiful lakefront views. It's always fun and challenging from the range to the course. Some beautiful long straight fairways some bootlegs and dog legs going left and right. On hole 8, a par 5, yesterday I had gotten a birdie due to the phenomenal drive I had with my 3 wood fading over the trees cutting the bootleg right to the fairway....best drive on that hole yet...following up with my 5i to be 30 yards from the pin. 3rd shot put me in gimme range to close out for a birdie. This course is great for all skill levels from beginner to pro.

Great time on the 4th of July! Carts ok, but the beverage cart server was amazing.. T'was a hot day, and she quenched our thirst. Thank you for a great Independence day!
Portage CC
Lots of right angles and tight. Greens undulate considerably
Decent value for the money
Course could be better. Miss the old hole number 2&3. New layout is not as nice. I play here mostly due to the decent price. Worth the money. If they raise the price, would not pay to play here. Club house has great food and drinks. Nice patio to look over the lake and have a drink.
Great value
This course is very well maintained and fun to play!
Bugs
There were a tremendous amount of mosquitos which almost made the course unbearable to play. We had mosquito repellent but didn’t have much impact. We started around 10 AM, I’m sure early morning or evening would be worse. This is a distance and placement course which makes it harder the first time you play.
They have improved the course significantly since the last time I played. Whole course was in excellent condition.
