The BOG
About
The Bog in Saukville has consistently been ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in Wisconsin. At 7,110 yards from the back tees, it is a course that will test both your distance and accuracy. The course takes no time in introducing its challenges. It opens with an uphill par 5 that requires a straight tee shot in order to avoid the bunkers that line both sides of the fairway. There are also at least 12 bunkers within 100 yards of the greens just waiting to swallow up errant shots. The golf course also provides a scenic round with mature trees and lush landscaping enclosing most of the holes. It can be a tough test but different sets of tees make it more approachable. The Bog is also a popular place for its practice facility, which includes a driving range and short game area.

Reviews
The Bog
Overall it was very nice. I was very pleased with the pace of play for 2 two some, 4 hrs. .Played this course many times. Make sure you play the correct tees for your handicap because the slope does mean something.
Great!
Great track. Friendly staff, course in lovely condition.
A gem hiding in a small Wisconsin town!
This course will challenge you on every hole, and outright frustrate you on a few! I have to think Palmer was having a bad day when he designed a few of these holes. Nice folks, good food and drink. A class facility with a touch of a small town feel. Don't miss it!
I’ve course, worth the trip
Very nice course layout and condition. Helps to have a good GPS to help route around some holes.
Great layout and condition
The Bog (an Arnold Palmer signature design) is a fun course to play and in excellent condition. Beautiful rural Wisconsin setting a half hour north of Milwaukee with gently rolling fairways, plenty of trees and shrubs at the perimeter but mostly not in play. Generous fairways on the front give way to tighter driving areas on the back. Some sharp doglegs add interest. A few forced carries off the tee and a few blind shots, but not overly stressful for the mid-length hitter playing from appropriate tees (6300 yards). The rough is cut down to modest length, making the course much more playable, especially because drives starting down the middle can easily tumble a few yards into the rough on some holes. Greens are in great shape, not too undulating; highly receptive to irons shots but still fairly quick putting. The somewhat skeletal staff on the Tuesday we played was friendly and not intrusive. This is not Erin Hills or Whistling Straits (thankfully); the course is beautiful but playable, and the green fees are quite reasonable for the quality of the experience. Worth the drive from Chicago’s northern suburbs.
I played with a member & his son who were both perfect gentleman.
Great course
Fairways and greens were in great shape for a brisk, Fall morning. Minimal leaf cover. Some bunkers were under repairs, but understandable.
Paid a great rate, which made the outing more enjoyable.
Great course
Nice layout. True greens and fast. Great deal.
Great Course---Great Staff
Played here for the first time. A few blind shots which will be much easier next time. A few forced carries so higher handicappers will struggle. Staff was excellent--friendly, helpful--couldn't have been better.
Greens were super fast and hard to read----local knowledge will help. Course was in very good condition, however, there were a few bunkers that I noticed had some huge stones in them. A few looked like they had just replaced the sand in them so they were soft. Other than that, it was fine. Definitely would play there again for a hot deal or in the $50.00 range. Very neat layout, lots of rolling hills.

Especially Loved the back nine - tuff holes - #17 I had to drive up to the hole to understand were the green was and how you could hit a blind shot over the trees if you were up to it
If you are looking for a club that has a real nature feeling with lots of mature trees then try the Bog
One last comment - even the forward tees require ability to hit at least a 140 yard drive to clear brush and land in fairway
Good course, not competitively priced
Good course, good conditions, but given the other courses in the area it is priced a little high.
Interesting and challenging corse!
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. The only significant drawback was the condition of the bunkers.
Need a ranger
Played in the afternoon and was held hostage by a foursome of players who, clearly, had not played much golf. They were running around in the tall grass, driving their carts on the green aprons, etc. and taking 3 practice swings to hit a 20 yard shot.
Wouldn't let us play through.
Don't know if we'll go back because of this even though the conditions were pretty good.
Very nice course
Overall, this is a very nice course. Get to the course, a cart person takes your clubs to a cart and puts a bag of balls in you cart to hit at the range (that only has flags to 220). The putting green rolls a lot slower than the course, which is extremely annoying. Overall, the course was very nice, cart girl wasnt the greatest though. Saw her on my approach shot on 1, then not again until the green on 11.
Theres a yardage book in the carts for you which is very nice. A lot of blind shots and layup shots on this course. Since this was my first time playing the Bog, that saved my life.
Overall, good experience. I recommend playing if you can get a deal on Hot Now.
Hot Day at the Bog
On one of many hot days this July I golfed the Bog in the late afternoon - early evening. The course was in fine shape, with fast greens (not as fast, though as my previous visit to The Bog) and well cut fairways. The layout itself is excellent. Fortunately my putter was also hot, and I had my best score ever for this particular course, a 78.
Most of the wetlands or "bog" lands are not in-play but just off the course or between holes.
Hit them Straight
We did an excellent job of chossing an excellent facility. Pracitce area - Excellent. Golf course - Exellent; Food Service - Slow. Food - Okay. Friendliness - Excellent. There a re quite a few blind shots which we will know about next time. Greens are mowed and rolled everyday and it shows. We will be back.
Good track in great condition
The Bog is a very good golf course and is in fantastic condition. There are a couple of weak (silly) holes (especially the par 5 17th) but on the whole it is a challenging, well-laid out course.
Great experience
Fun track, well maintained course, pure greens, and great practice area.
Good course, very overpriced...
If you can get a good deal, this course is worth playing. It is well maintained and a good challenge, but it is not worth $80. If you get play it for $40 with a cart, I'd say it is worth giving it a try.
