The BOG
About
The Bog in Saukville has consistently been ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in Wisconsin. At 7,110 yards from the back tees, it is a course that will test both your distance and accuracy. The course takes no time in introducing its challenges. It opens with an uphill par 5 that requires a straight tee shot in order to avoid the bunkers that line both sides of the fairway. There are also at least 12 bunkers within 100 yards of the greens just waiting to swallow up errant shots. The golf course also provides a scenic round with mature trees and lush landscaping enclosing most of the holes. It can be a tough test but different sets of tees make it more approachable. The Bog is also a popular place for its practice facility, which includes a driving range and short game area.

Reviews
Difficult
Difficult course. Rolling hills so you have many up and down and side lies. The day we played the wind was blowing 20 to 30 mph. It made a hard course even more difficult.
Bog golf course
The fairways and greens were in very good shape. However, The bunkers could use a little work. It would also be nice to have gps or a course guide included in the round. Not a book that costs extra or a downloadable gps app that requires you to be glued to your phone. Very fun/challenging course, but you are presented with a lot of blind shots where knowing yardages to trouble spots and aiming points would greatly enhance the round!
The Bog
A friend and I played The Bog on a Wednesday mid morning. Service was good and the staff friendly. The driving range is terrific with lots of options to hit to and lots of space. The course was in great shape and quite difficult if you are not accurate off the tee (which I was not the first 5 holes). The greens were in great shape and rolled true. I know it is not ideal to be in the bunkers but if you do it is some of the best sand id ever play out of. This is a very nice course especially for the price, definitely a place you want to play. Just a step below your top end Wisconsin courses.
Excellent course
Highly recommended. Challenging course I will be playing it again.
Beautiful course
This a beautiful course with a very cool layout. Lots of rolling Hills with bunkers protecting the greens. Challenging but there are a lot of tee boxes to chose from. The staff is friendly, especially the starts by the range. Beverage prices are a little high compared to other courses but that's not too bad. The pace of play was great, our 3some was done at 3 hours 45 min which was quicker than expected.
The Bog
The finest course I've played in Wisconsin. I've played the Bull and would rather play the Bog. The course has a great layout and the conditions are fantastic. There are blind tee shots, a good mix of short and long holes and enough hazards to make the course challenging yet still opportunities to score. The greens are exteremly fast but they role true so as long as you can adjust you'll be fine. Overall a 5 star course.
very nice course
My impressions of playing this course for the 1st time were pretty good, course was in great shape greens were very fast but I love fast greens .
But the scorecard was pretty simple for a nice course and there were no markers or anything of how to carry a certain distance and the blind shots fortunately that didn't seam to affect me but a person not as skilled it certainly would. But hopefully that's something they look at, I did read you could buy something at the course for that but that should be included in what you pay in a greens fee reading that made me lol. But other than that nice course for the good deal but if you compare it to the Bull it really doesn't stack up to that course, regular price for this course I definitely wouldn't pay, in Green Bay this course wouldn't be much better than a Northbrook County or Thornberry creek just different is all and actually easier
Awesome Course, Awesome Experience
Being from Chicagoland, I consider myself a bit of a golf snob. My expectations are unreasonably high at times, but The Bog exceeded all of my expectations. The course was very well maintained, the practice area is top notch, and the staff was helpful, polite, and went above and beyond to make our experience a memorable one. Great mixture of target golf holes, fast but receptive greens, and perfectly maintained bunkers and areas around the greens. The pace of play was superb for a Tuesday morning (3.5 hours). The price was great ($70) and I would much rather play The Bog instead of the Bull at Pinehurst Farms ($140).
Great course
This is more of a links type course . Lots of bunkers on front nine. Lots of blind shots and dog-legs for first timers. The greens were in great condition, Lots of roll on fairways. Great layout. Not very female friendly, with lots of holes requiring carry over hazards. Loved the course. Highly recommend. Had a great time,
Regular green fees are a little pricey, but worth it. Wish course was closer to us.
THIS COURSE IS A MUST PLAY!
This course is by far above one of my top 3 courses I've played in Wisconsin. It Ranks to me up there with WILD ROCK FROM THE DELLS. I Love challenges. Going over marshes and ravines off the tee box. I played it after a heavy rain and the fairways were air rated but the courses is in prestine and awesome condition. Thanks to thecgreen site that has great deals I could get a chance to play here. I will play again next year. I shot from the tips or blacks and found it second longest course I've played in Wisconsin. Shot in 83 my handicap which is 11. Birdied 17 & 18 highlight of my day. Greens here a challenge. Play below the hole here. Greens slope towards the front. Lots of dog legs. Its a shot makers course from the blacks. From the whites which is 4 th hardest tees, course is to easy. I played with 2 other golfers one played back with me and other played from the green tees. Love the long par 3's here a challenge of 200 yards or better. Great club house. Staff was very helpful and friendly. They have course ranger here making sure pace is kept. Arnold made a first class facility herem Totally Amazing! Top 5 in places to play in WI.
A Must Play
The Bog is a top notch course. Course conditions do not get much better than this in Wisconsin, the greens are fast, firm and smooth. The layout is creative and demanding. The staff has been friendly and helpful each time I have been there. I have been paired up twice and had a great experience each time. I used to live in the area and will play this course every time I visit from now on.
bad weather good round
Round started at 84 degrees ended in the rain and 54 degrees. The game was like the weather started great The course became very slow. the course is very good but has a couple of holes that are to ghimcky without local knowledge.
Course Good but Some Staff Could be Nicer
It was my first time at the course and we played on a Saturday. It was busy, but we were playing at a good rate and not wasting time in any manner.
Since it was our first time, we did have some problems with lost balls, but played ready golf and were very conscious of the time.
As we made the turn, the ranger told us that the group ahead had been too slow and since he told them to "pick up the pace:", then so should we. We took his message to heart, but then there was a twosome behind our foursome that must have expected to play a round on a busy Saturday afternoon in under 4 hours and they were not patient one bit. I thought I heard them chewing out the ranger. The ranger ended up timing our 10th or 11th hole and it ruined my appreciation of the day and the golf course. It was not a good first impression.
I play an average of about 2-3 rounds per week and have played an many courses that are new to me this year and this was an unfortunate experience for all involved.
I know there are pressures to finish up in a timely manner on a golf course, but people don't have to get so pushy, crabby and unfriendly. It is SUPPOSED to be fun.
I liked the course a lot. I found it very challenging but I was playing pretty well and other than that incident, the course was very nice and the rest of the staff were fun and helpful. Thank you to all the staff in the drink carts, the pro shop and the bar. You guys were all super.
Variety
Great variety of greens, pin placement, and line of sight to the greens from the tee. Full service friendly staff at the course. Challenging. Has a good variety of tees for different levels of players' experience!
Loved it, in spite of...
Loved the course, but it helped that I played with someone a bit familiar with the track. The overhead views and yardages via SkyDroid GPS on my phone were also helpful. Otherwise, finding the targets for the blind tee shots would have been a real challenge. Overall conditions were outstanding with one exception. The bunkers have clearly reached their life expectancy. Most are hard packed or dirt. They really need to be rebuilt, especially for a course of this caliber. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Good course with some challenging holes.
Nice course with some challenging holes. Well maintained and in great condition.
Avoid The Bog
I usually enjoy Palmer designs but I am not a fan of this course layout. Too many blind shots with no signage or sufficient hole maps. It is as though they tried to cram 18 holes into too few acres. In addition, the range was beat up as well as the tee boxes. I had an 8:40 AM tee time and the traps were not raked from the night before. The only “silver lining” was the greens. They ran true at about an 11 on the Stimpmeter. With this in mind, clearly the condition of the course was not equal to the price. Speaking of the price….I was quoted a discounted price on the phone and charged a higher one upon arrival. The pro shop staff was rude and not accommodating. If you are looking for quality golf in the area I would travel a little further north and play The Bull or the Kohler courses. Yes you will pay more but the experience is equal to the cost. With a lot of quality courses to choose from in the area, I will not be back.
A Must Play
This course is very challenging and I would put it the top 10 in WI easily. Not a sprayers paradise, you have to hit shots, so for you low handicappers, get there and play from the tips. Fairways were great, bunker were in great condition, and greens were fast and firm. Great course!
Target Golf
I was very disappointed playing this course. I will agree it is a very beautiful setting with some elevated tee's and manicured fairways. That is about all I can say that was good about the course. This is what most people call a resort type of course. A majority of the tee shots are blind and they have no aiming post whatsoever in the fairways so you know where to go. Most of the fairways are dogleg left or right or the fairway ends and another one begins. The course is very hilly and not a lot of room on either side of the fairways on most holes. If you enjoy hitting hybrids or iron's off the tee .. Then you would probably like the course. It's like playing a bunch of par threes all day long. We played the Blue Stake Tees. It is most definitely not worth $100 plus per person per round. They should be ashamed of themselves charging that much. We were fortunate that we went through golfnow.com for $71 a person.
Thank you for taking time to assess our course conditions, facility & express your opinions. Of course, we appreciate all types of feedback so we can understand each customer's experience and make corrective action if necessary.
Please note: We do not have GPS on our golf carts. However, we do have yardage books available for $5, the golf course is well marked on both sides of the fairway's sprinkler heads & cart paths are marked with yardages as well. In addition, we do have an APP for smart phones on our mobile website: m.golfthebog.com that provides aerial flyovers of each hole & also GPS yardages for each hole. Our mobile website is displayed and easily seen in the message holder of each golf cart. We also demo LaserLink RH2 Rangefinders for trial. Customers can take one out if available or reserve one with their tee time. Many other golfers already own a GPS or Rangefinder devise.
There are actually only 3 doglegs at The BOG; #14, #16 & #17. There are also many holes that swerve or take a slight turn from being directly straight: #1, #3, #5, #6, #7, #9, #10, #12 & #18. The BOG has 5 sets of tee boxes for all levels of golfers and is built on the Cedarburg Bog out in the wilderness with a mild terrain and only a couple houses seen from the golf course.

The BOG has 5 sets of tee boxes for all levels of golfers and is built on 297 acres out in the Cedarburg Bog's wilderness with a mild terrain and only a couple houses seen from the golf course.
The BOG has 118 bunkers and it takes most of a day to properly groom all of the bunkers after an all day rain which we encountered the day and night of August 15th, the day before you played. Unfortunately, you had an early morning tee time.
When you booked your tee time, you did not identify yourself as using a Groupon voucher. If you had, you would have been quoted the proper rate. These Groupon vouchers have specific guidelines spelled out clearly on the Groupon: 1) Identify you will be using a Groupon 2) Groupon vouchers are deducted from web posted rack rates 3) Not valid in combination with internet specials, or any other specials.
We hope reconsider golfing The BOG again.
