The BOG
About
The Bog in Saukville has consistently been ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in Wisconsin. At 7,110 yards from the back tees, it is a course that will test both your distance and accuracy. The course takes no time in introducing its challenges. It opens with an uphill par 5 that requires a straight tee shot in order to avoid the bunkers that line both sides of the fairway. There are also at least 12 bunkers within 100 yards of the greens just waiting to swallow up errant shots. The golf course also provides a scenic round with mature trees and lush landscaping enclosing most of the holes. It can be a tough test but different sets of tees make it more approachable. The Bog is also a popular place for its practice facility, which includes a driving range and short game area.

Fun but challenging course
The Bog is a beautiful course that provides plenty of challenges. There were quite a few holes with 100-150' of carry over wetland areas. Pace of play was good - no backups whatsoever.
Most over-hyped course in the state
Nice facilities and staff. Never have I played a course that is as enjoyable. Numerous blind shots. The worst part is simply extremely poor markings on the course -no maps, no gps on carts. Insane for what you pay here. They have 9 bottles of pivot sand on all tees (including par 5 and 4s, yet they can't be troubled to put up any type of info anywhere on how to have an idea to best play the hole. Just hit over the hill and hope seems to be the order of the day. I expected much more from an Arnold Palmer design.
Very nice course
This was my first time playing this course and wow. Did not know where to hit the ball. Very tough for a middle handicap player. Unless you played before. Very challenging. Greens are fast but very true. Will most defenitly return to play again
Great place to play
The course was great. Course was in good condition and the greens were awesome! Would come back and play this course again in a heartbeat.
Always great
I've played this course several times and it always impresses me time after time. One of my favorites.
the Bog
sand traps were terrible, hard clay, no sand in them, not raked out by the grounds crew. No towel in the cart for players(really) for a high end place?
Aptly named "The Bog"
Recent weather made this course live up to its name...it was waterlogged. Rode, but cart path. Sand wash outs and pools in many bunkers. That said, still enjoyed the course and the experience. Greens were smooth and only will get faster when the course dries. Routing varied with nice views and no houses on the course! Played from the green tees and the course was plenty long for me. Had the blessing of being paired with a local who helped us navigate around the course. Will play here again.
Wisconsin Bog
Course had received 6 plus inches of rain in the days leading up to my playing it. It was still in good shape but a little soft in spots. Greens where not lightning fast but ran at a nice playable pace. Pace of play was good and overall a nice round of golf. Will play it again when in the area.
Love it
Played 3 hours after getting 3 inches of rain and the course held up very well. Bunkers were the only issue with a lot of them holding water which is understandable. So many challenging holes that you need to make sure you place your shots. Fairways in awesome shape. The greens could of been better, a little bumpy since last time I was there. Not sure they were rolled due to the rain. Great price for the course with the Hot Deal made it well worth it. Will be back soon.
I love the Bog
Best Father's Day ever. 3 1/2 hour round. Course is in very good shape. True, consistent greens. Very friendly staff. Loved the pace, but would have liked to see more people, because this is a fine course.
Nice
Good course to play once in awhile. We enjoyed the
Course.
Awesome Course
This course is incredible. Beautiful and challenging make the perfect combination. The only negative on this day was the ranger. Yes, it's his job to keep things on schedule. But based on how few people were on the course, he was kind of hounding us and almost following us the first 6 holes which was unpleasant. I've golfed here before a handful of times before and that's been the only minor dissatisfaction I've ever had
Great value for price
Got it on GolfNow's Hot Deals so was very happy with what I paid. Couse was in good condition but some fairways had dead spots (hopefully it is just because of the harsh winter). Overall enjoyed the course very much. I played as a single and there were some people in front of me that let me played through when I caught them so it was a good afternoon. I would highly recommend this course to anyone. Warning - choose the appropriate tee because it can be VERY challenging if you do not. Believe me, you and everyone playing behind you will thank you for choosing the correct tees.
disappointed
The greens were aerated and awful and the sand traps had more rocks and dirt than sand.....should have played elsewhere
Thank you for taking time to assess our course conditions & express your opinions. Of course, we appreciate all types of feedback so we can understand from the customers viewpoint and make corrective action.
The BOG has 118 large bunkers through the entire golf course. This sprng we have experienced excessive rains which wash the bunkers out and compact the sand in the bunkers. Our maintenence crew has been trying to keep up to prepare bunkers daily, but have not been able to get to them all, every day. So, yes, we are sorry and we do understand that some of the bunkers were not in premium condition with little sand. In addition, each season we select a number of bunkers that need repair which we have already identified. These bunkers will be fixed and more sand added over the next few weeks.
Unfortunately, all golf courses need to aerify greens. Some courses need to aerify more than others due to their base make up of soil. Most courses aerify at least once annual and usually in the spring. The BOG has not needed to aerify greens for 5 years until this year, since our greens were built to exact U.S.G.A. specifications and are very healthy. But yes, we did need to aerify this past spring on May 5th & 6th. We did provide notices to golfers who booked or were going to book tee times with us through May 18th regarding our greens being recently aerified. Normally, the recovery process is relatively quick and the greens grow back within 7-10 days timeframe. However, the weather did not cooperated with us much this spring as we needed warmer temps and sun to grow back in. Anyway, they have come back to very playable standards. We are sorry that you were not able to play on perfect greens as The BOG is generally known for. If you would like to come back to play The BOG, the greens should be perfect again very soon.
No sand in bunkers!
Disappointing to find multiple bunkers with no sand, and hard, dry dirt instead. And they had aerated greens which were a surprise at this time of year and unexpected.

Bucket list course
If playing for the first time recommend you pair up with someone who knows the course since there are many blind holes. Although no GPS, the fairways were well marked. Play was during early spring and I thought, even though the greens were plugged, overall the course was in excellent shape that time of year. Ball washers, water stations, restrooms were all well maintained. Practice balls included in price. Carts ran smoothly. Very nice golf experience.
Tough Course but worth it.
The Bog is a tough course. You have to hit the ball and strategically attack the holes. It began to rain when I played and this made the course even more difficult. Fun though:)
Solid, championship style course
Nice layout, but nothing overly dramatic. Some very good par fives, but a couple of weak par threes. A very good overall course, but lacks a little of the "wow" factor. I was extremely impressed with the fastest, best rolling greens in southeastern Wisconsin, in my opinion. The overall condition was quite good, though a few bunkers need some work. Enjoyed playing this course at the discounted rate, though I do find the standard rates to be well overpriced.
Great layout and challenging golf.
The course is in fall conditions with some minor aeration marks on fairways and approaches. Greens were not aerated which is nice.
It appears that since the recent sale of hte course, the maintanance of hte course has slipped a bit. Not like it was in May-August.
best in Milwaukee area if you have the $$$
great course if you can afford. golf it 5-10 times a year.
GREAT deals on Golf Now though.
Not many public courses to compare to even at full price...

Please note: We do not have GPS on our golf carts. However, we do have yardage books available for $5, the golf course is well marked on both sides of the fairway's sprinkler heads & cart paths are marked with yardages as well. In addition, we do have an APP for smart phones on our mobile website: m.golfthebog.com that provides aerial flyovers of each hole & also GPS yardages for each hole. Our mobile website is displayed in the message holder of each golf cart. We also demo LaserLink RH2 Rangefinders for trial. Customers can take out if available or reserve one with their tee time. Many golfers today currently own LaserLink, Bushnell, or Golf Buddy type yardage measuring devises or GPS Systems.
