Just a short drive from the Twin Cities, Bristol Ridge Golf Course is a championship course that is conveniently located for a getaway that doesn't involve too much of a time investment. The rolling terrain provides a good amount of challenge while also being player friendly enough for beginners. The tree-lined fairways tumble across the natural contours of the land, which also helped determine the strategic placement of the bunkers. Despite being quite hilly, the golf course is pleasantly walkable. There are also water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The well conditioned greens provide smooth, fast putting surfaces. Each hole has a different character and most are anything but straightforward. Bristol Ridge Golf Course's 11th hole is short but memorable with an almost-island green, surrounded by water on three sides.

Slow

They let an 8some out in front of us. Over 5 hours to play the round and was brutal. Course was nice and enjoyed the golf but the pace was HORRIBLE. staff was also very crabby, i had paid online for the round through golf now and he argued that I didn’t pay and charged me $43 (when I had already paid for the round online for $33) what the heck. When I found my receipt on my phone I went back in to show and just pulled cash out and gave it to me with no question like he knew he messed up but wouldnt have unless I confronted.

Challenging course

Several wide fairways off the tee, and several narrow fairways off the tee. Not many forced carries. Greens very receptive to all irons. Greens were tough to read for speed and break, a good challenge for good putters. Plenty of visits from a very cute concession's girl, about every third hole. Overall, a very enjoyable and challenging day of golf. Will definitely come back

Tougher course for a bogey plus golfer

Everything went well, except for our scores. Very impressed with pace of play. We walked it, but a cart should strongly be considered.

Rain

We played for the first time after a weekend of rain, rain, rain. Had a great “HotDeal” but were disappointed that the course was No Carts Allowed that morning due to the rain. There was a tar cart path on the course that looked serviceable for carts, even with the rain, but we didn’t mind the walk. Pass on their old push-carts—old wheels make for more work than carrying your clubs.

Asked the bartender/cook what her favorite food at the clubhouse was and she replied “look at the menu”. Ended up with a burger which was actually pretty decent.

We will be returning on a brighter day. The course was in nice shape.

Outstanding course for value

Course in great shape and greens as good as most semi private courses in the area.
Totally recommend this course if skill level mid 80’s to mid 90’s

Nice time...as always!

Bristol Ridge is my "go to" course. Challenging, well maintained and nice staff. Great value, too. Well worth the 45 minute drive from my place in Minneapolis....and even easier with the recent opening of the new St. Croix River bridge. One minor drawback: pace of play can vary quite a bit but, it's usually not a deal.breaker.

Great time

The review might be influenced by the fact that I aced hole number 11. My foursome always enjoys this course and for it to be in excellent condition even though it had rained for several hours before we played. We drive 30 to 40 miles to play here and always enjoy ourselves, especially with the ace.

Great value, friendly staff

Bristol Ridge is an excellent value and a well laid out course with easy access from the Twin Cities. I found the course enjoyable, well conditioned and generally played there a couple times each summer. The staff was especially helpful and accommodating. While worth the short trip from the Twin Cities.

Beautiful Course

The course layout is very nice. They punched the greens a week ago and still are very bumpy. they need more sand on the greens to fill the holes. Other than that the club house is under staffed. golf carts are all over the place when turned in. Also No beverage cart person on a beautiful day. I sure would of liked to have a beverage on the course. One person working the bar and the pro shop.

My Favorite Course in the Area

I've played a number of the courses in the Stillwater / Western WI area and this is my favorite. The combination of a well kept course, challenging layout, and great value bring me back here multiple times per season. Even the range / putting green area are well maintained. In addition, the best little brewery in the area (Oliphant) is only a few miles from the course in Somerset.

Challenging Course

Very challenging course with a lot of narrow fairways. Rough was deep, with large trees blocking many shots not in the fairway. Stay in the fairway if you want to get on the green in regulation. Greens were just aerated so they were in bad shape, that's my only complaint. If the greens were in better condition it would have been 5*, easy.
