Situated just next to Potawatomie State Park, Idewild Golf Course enjoys scenic views from almost every hole. The course itself is colored with a variety of native vegetation that complements the lush, well manicured greens and fairways. The rolling terrain provides plenty of interesting contours that range from subtle to dramatic. It is a challenging course that offers plenty of risk-reward opportunities. There is plenty of water and sand coming into play throughout the golf course. The most talked-about hole is the tough par-5 ninth where reaching the island green in two is only possible for the longest and most accurate of hitters. There are mature forests to the right, a fairway bunker, and a towering elm tree in the center and not to mention the green itself is large and undulating.

First time player. Traveled 40 miles to play it. Nice course to play for the "Hot Deal" that we got. I would definitely make the drive to play it again. Narrow landing areas off the tee on the front for sure.

A Hidden Course to Play

Nice friendly layout that allows for a few mistakes, but a mistake in the wrong place, you pay for it. Excellent course for the mid handicapper.

Good value

I recently moved to the area and have played this course 4 times. On this date the course was very well maintained with a little standing water on a couple of holes. The sand traps were a little stiff but were not too challenging to get up and down. The tees were well maintained and the green played at a moderate pace. This is a challenging course for a 14 handicap but is manageable. Just enough traps and hazards to keep you on your toes but an extremely enjoyable experience with my two sons and father. I recommend you ask for a ranger to push play along considering we had a dad coaching his son and daughter the entire 18 in front of us. But for a Sunday morning the pace wasn't too terribly bad. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this challenging course.

Great value

I've been playing this course ever since it opened as Lost Creek Golf Course over 20 years ago. I come up here on vacation every year from Chicago and am used to some pretty nice courses. For the money you pay, idlewild is excellent. Challenging track, really good greens and overall very well kept, I recommend it for anyone wanting a good golf experience.

Nice course

Enjoyable course especially when on vacation, because sometimes the pace can be slow. Greens were very fast and pin placements were not on flat ground which made this very challenging. It's an excellent course and gets better each year. The many times we've golfed here, the one thing that is consistent is the wind and sometimes very windy. This makes many holes play longer and adds to the challenge. We enjoy the management and would like to compliment Dick for his hospitality and humor. We'll be back...

Lady friendly course

Course has improved so much since it first opened, gets better every year with maturing of trees. It is quite lady friendly, forward tees are in great places and still present challenges for course unlike some courses where water and forced carries are completely eliminated by the location of forward tee boxes. Water in front of greens 9 and 18 can present a problem if you are unsure of yardage!!
