Needs some rain
I liked everything about the course. Played White/Blue and both were long and well trapped. Fairways were dry due to the ongoing lack of rain this summer.
Ives Grove
Staff is always very friendly. Pace of play was less than 4 hours. Outstanding!!
review
First time playing Ives Grove course. We played the white and blue nines. The course was in pretty good shape. Ruff was burnt out and in bad shape. Tee boxes, fairways and green were good. Pace of play was terrible. Group in front of us was taking 10 shoot per hole and had the whole course back up. No ranger to move them on and when we told the clubhouse at the turn they didn't seem to care very much!. No drink cart on the first nine on a very hot day. Back nine was great because we saw the drink cart of three different holes.
Great Course!@
What a great course! Three 9's that were an excellent blend of par 3's, 4's, and 5's. Pretty open if you hit it relatively onine... a couple holes where course knowledge will keep you in play (example: 8 blue has water on both sides where a 200-220 yard shot is all you want). Teeboxes, fairways, and greens were in excellent shape. Didn't do anything in the practice area, but it looked like a really nice facility. For a sub-$50 round of golf it is entirely worth it.
Don't play behind a league
There was a league playing in front of us and we waited 10 minutes behind them to start. After we started, we took 1/2 hour to finish the first hole (a par 5) because we had to wait on the group in front of us (who was the last group in the league and waiting on the group in front of them).
It took 2 1/h hours to play 9 holes riding and it was past dusk when we finally were able to finish. The only reason we were able to finish in that time is that we jumped to another part of the course to play the last 4 holes.
Fun round
Played with a couple of guys that don't play very often...course is pretty wide open which definitely helped them enjoy their round.
Great County Course
The staff is always friendly and the course was in excellent condition. They do a great job for the course being a public county course.
A little creativity goes a long way
This course is pretty fun. Has a great mix of long and mid length holes with only a couple short holes. I like this course as it has a good mix of grip and rip holes, and also some that require a little course management and creativity. A range finder here helps a ton. I played the red and white course and they played about 6500yds. So pretty average length for around here to maybe a touch longer depending where you play. Greens were in good condition, traps were in good condition, and the fairways were all in great shape too. A warning, this course does sit at the highest point of Racine Cty and it always has some wind it seems.
