Viroqua Hills Golf Course
About
Viroqua Hills Golf Course is tucked away amongst lush, rolling hills in the heart of Vernon County. Originally opened in 1930 as a public nine-hole course, and another nine was added in 1996, bringing the length to over 6,300 yards. The original nine, holes 1-3 and 13-18, has a traditional design that plays across wooded hills. Getting to the new nine requires crossing through a tunnel where on the other side, two ponds and a waterfall await you. Both nines have a distinct character but they both feature undulating greens and wide fairways lined with mature pine, oak, and birch trees. There are also sand traps bordering the greens on 14 holes and the fairways on six holes. The 11th is Viroqua Hills Golf Course's signature hole, known for the scenic view from its elevated tee box perched 100 feet above the fairway.

Beautiful, well maintained course.
We just started playing here this summer. Viroqua is a great course in rural Wisconsin. It is extremely well maintained although a bit difficult because of its location in the Wi Driftless Area.
Shuffling spiked feet
Lately golfers with spikes have ruined the previously excellent green conditions. One has to spend time repairing the damage before putting.
Nice course
I always enjoy playing Viroqua Hills. It is an interesting very pretty course. It is always in great condition.
The food is inexpensive in the cluybhouse.
Nice course in the driftless
Well maintained course with elevation changes. Greens were in good shape during this drought.
Getting Even Better!
I make the 40 minute drive from LaCrosse regularly and have reviewed before but seeing the energy that has been put into the course this year is really amazing!
The greens are incredible and in my opinion better than the private club that I played in Onalaska on Tuesday - by far! Extremely true and fast — don’t get above the hole right now as they prep for the annual Viroqua Open.
Fairways are tight and weed free — rough is a little dry but playable — tee areas good with the par threes needing a touch of divot love.
I’d love to see this place stay a locals secret but it’s really a fun place to play —
Always Improving- GREAT GREENS!
The staff and community seem to take great pride in this small town 18 hole course. I play it a few times a year and it never disappoints. I played Sunday morning and would put their putting surfaces up against any $150+ resort course or private country club.
A lengthy challenging par 37 front nine rolls to a shortish par 34 back nine that intertwines older and newer nines but it’s been close to 30 years and turf and greens match well. Although, it can be a hike for those that walk to transition from one side of the highway to the other.
I’m looking forward to cashing in on another HOT DEAL and playing again!
Fun day
My wife is just starting to play golf again after retiring. She had a wonderful time. We’ll be back!
Great views.
Course was in great shape. My wife’s second time golfing in several years and we both had a great time. Very beautiful course.
Great condition
