oh my
Played here yesterday for first time and wow. I have never seen a course with greens this bad. Wasn't sure if I was at golf course or a beach. Played first 9 and had enough. The layout is ok a little tight but fair. No difference between fairways and rough. I would say this course is no different than a typical backyard. I will not be back and do not recommend anyone else do so either. It is worth couple extra dollars to go to ironwood.
Meadowbrook Golf Course
This course should not be open for play. The playing conditions were the worst I have ever seen in my life. The greens were so damaged that I stopped over my first putt and just laughed my way to a three putt. The fairways were unkept not mowed in some time but it would not have mattered as they were as horrendous as the greens. After three holes we quit and I went back to voice my opinion and was then told that the irrigation system had not been operable for two weeks. This course had more than two weeks of neglect. The owners/managers were polite enough and apologetic but the day was ruined. They did refund our money and I feel sorry for them if they are looking at this as an investment. DO NOT PLAY!
love the layout of the course
Fairways not mowed ,greens have very little grass if any. Overall condition 1-10. I give it a 1. Like playing in a cow pasture. Will not be returning.
You get what you pay for!!!
The course is in horrible shape. The owner or owners need to put some money back into the course. It's a great layout just in really bad shape. I read the reviews but I had no idea it would be as bad as it was. I will not play there again for any price.
You get what you pay for!!!
This is probably the worst maintained course I have ever played and I have played some dog tracks. I loved the layout but the owner or owners need to put some money into the course.
I played on Sunday morning of a holiday weekend and there may have been 8 other golfers on the course. I read the reviews before I played and I thought that thee was no way it could be as bad as advertised. I was wrong. The staff was friendly but that's about all.
Needs a lot of TLC
great price but u get what u pay for. Condition of course was awful but I am told the new owners are working on it and have made improvements. Will try again next time I'm in Gainesville and see if they are making progress.
Really poorly maintained course
Went there spurt of the moment. Course was the worst I've ever been to. Poorly maintained course.
Quite a way to go...
Got a good rate for a pre-noon tee time so took advantage to play during stopover on roadtrip. Hadn't played course in about 5 years, and it has definitely gone downhill. New management is making efforts to improve, but it will likely take another year before it's near it's previous condition. Crabgrass and weedgrass in fairways, greens in very rough shape. A real shame, as the course layout and design is fun and just challenging enough for a low-teen handicap. Won't play again anytime soon, just not worth even the reduced green fees (yet!).
Great Time
Up and coming course. Needs some work but great progress. A lot of fun to play. There is a tee box to fit everyone's skill level. Highly recommend! Great value!
Great Deal and Getting Better
This has always been my favorite course to play in Gainesville…just a really fun layout and a lot hillier than the other typical options. If you can get one of the Golf Now hot deal prices, there's really no reason not to play it- such a great deal.
It's a far cry from it's glory days in terms of conditions as the greens, etc. still need a lot of work but it is getting there.
Happy to see this course back on the right track.
Much improved
Several months ago Meadowbrook was purchased by new management. Since that time I have seen drastic improvements with the course. While it still needs a lot of work, it is much, much better than it was under the previous management. I really like the layout of this course and my early impression is this new management will make it a good course again. Give it a try!!
Still needs Help.
Closed and re opened in recent months. 5 hours slow play .Layout great needs GRASS. no ball wash. no water cooler or fountain anywhere. no ranger no repair sand rough not mowed . GET THE PICTURE
Would Not Play Here For Free!
1. Checked in and was told that it was a hassle for them when reservations were booked through GolfNow.
2. "Driving Range" was just a section of 2-3 home lots that were vacant. Not long enough to hit anything longer than a 5 iron or you would hit a house.
3. No starter. No ball washers. No water coolers.
4. Cart Paths would have been better as just grass or dirt, the pavement was so jagged you would check your cart to make sure nothing fell out.
5. Tee boxes were below par but not anything that would keep me from playing again.
6. Fairways and Sand were almost the same. Fairways were half sand/dirt and half uncut grass. Bunkers were half sand and rocks.
7. The greens were nothing short of something you could do in any backyard. 1 footers were no gimmie between the rocks, feet of sand, branches, and other things not meant to be on a green.
Finally, the overall demeanor of everyone I came into contact with just seemed rude. One would think that someone willing to actually pay money for that course would be thanked or told that improvements were coming. This course needs to just shut down for a few months to get things back on track if not just close the doors completely.
Don't Play Here
My experience at Meadowbrook Golf Club was not enjoyable. Me and a friend were meeting to play since it's about the same distance for both of us. First off, the bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. When confirming our tee time the guy at the desk (who was in sweatpants and a cut off t-shirt) was not very friendly. You can tell he didn't enjoy his job or take it seriously. Which if he's the owner then I can see why the course was in such bad shape.
The range was too short to hit a driver, maybe even a well hit low iron. Although it was a challenging course the greens were slow and in poor shape, as was the fairway. Overall, I would not recommend a friend play this course.
Improving each day
This course was in a downward spiral with the previous owners. Now Jeff & Cody (owner & manager) have put in a great deal of sweat equity & I am sure a lot of $$$$. It is not perfect but it is trending up & every time I play it I can see improvement. The track has a great challenging layout & is enjoyable to play.
Looking bette
Tis was my second time playing Meadowbrook , this time was much better than the last, I will lay again soon , enjoyed it. Ben
Good experience GREAT STAFF!!!
We had an amazing experience I would recommend this course to anyone and the Staff is amazing!!!
Just taken over
I played this course only a couple of weeks into the new owners taking over. Looks as though the previous owners did not put any money into the course for a long time and let it run into the ground. I liked the course and I am sure within 6 months that there will be big differences in the condition. Will definitely play again there.
Scenery
The course scenery was nice, the course condition was ok. The bunkers were bad but I did notice they were working on them. The greens need help and fairways were patchy. The price was worth it I paid $10 of of golfnow and for that time if year is good. I do live and play in south Florida so I may be a little spoild.
down hill
Played course 15 years ago. Great layout. Greens very bad. No sand in bunkers
