Don't Waste Your Time
My complaints:
1) Greens were terrible.
2) Fairways were overgrown. Could not hit from the fairway on many shots due to overgrown weeds, etc.
3) When I arrived the person behind the desk wasn't in place. I had to go out to the guy taking care of the carts, then he came in and found the guy.
4) I found that the GolfNow rate was no cheaper than the regular rate. I basically paid GolfNow money for nothing.
5) They were out of fountain drinks so I had to have a bottle.
Way over priced for poorly cared for course
Very dissatisfied with my experience here. 30 dollars for a course that is completely unkept. Fire ant hills pepper the fairways and even tee boxes. Bunkers are just hard sand. Grass is patchy everywhere and greens have patches of sand throughout the surface. Wouldn't pay to play this again unless it was 15 or less with a cart. Same price or cheaper for Ironwood that is in 100% better shape than this course.
Dog track in Gainesville
Was told by a local that public courses in Gainesville's were not good and they were spot on. It's a dog track! Nothing was worth at all but funny thing is I shot the round if my life. Hate to put in a bad review but don't waste your time. An NJ golfer golfing the first time in Gainesville. Go Gators!!
Good variety
There were some good challenges on many of the holes with water hazards (my Weakness) and some hilly terrain.
I always enjoy Meadowbrook as the Pro shop is helpful and professionally staffed.
This course is unplayable.
Course maintenance - whether on purpose or due to weather - was just awful. Fairways had not been cut in many days and greens/tees were in terrible condition. The rough had been allowed to return to a natural state - some grass over a foot tall - so that any shot in the rough was unplayable. I will never return to this course.
Such a let down
I used to play this course a lot when I was younger. This used to be a fairly nice course, but it has drastically gone down hill.
Greens: I've seen fairways that have shorter grass than these greens did. One green even had what can only be described as a sand trap dead middle of it. They were terrible.
Fairways: Sometimes you couldn't tell if you were on the fairway or in the rough. There were patches of weeds everywhere.
Bunkers: Not fair to judge these, it had just rained the day before, so they were still saturated. Only got in them once, and played out fine.
All in all, I was just very let down. This used to be one of my favorite courses and it is just terrible now. It is in some serious need of some TLC.
MeadowBrook Stay Away.. Stay Away....
First off the greens were being aerated, the back 9 was close that day and we could only play the front twice. The guy said we could get a refund but what we had paid was cheaper then the rate they were charging a buck a hole. We had only paid 9 for the whole round. But the course, it is best described as one big strip of grass. There is no difference between the fairway, rough, or even green. One could say that the fairway would be better to put off then the green because at least it isn't covered in sand. That's right the greens are covered in sand and one had so much on it, I could barley see. All of this is so disappointing because I have been playing this course for years, and it has such a cool layout. However, the amount of disrepair it has fallen into is so sad. The Gainesville community has so little golf courses and to have one be in this bad of shape is a disfavor to everyone in the area.
Why Play Here?

Great day on the course
Booked a hot deal single for today since it's been awhile since I have played. The course has all the water hazards up and in play; whereas in the winter the hazards are dry. With those being back in the mix, the course difficulty and pleasure of playing went up a great deal. It does look like they are in the process of redoing all of the greens. They are all freshly aerated and new grass is coming in. I see that the groundskeeping team has also repainted the yardage markers, made repairs to some of the walkways etc... In other words, they are busily improving the courser. The fairways could use some love. But, overall the course is a fun day for a great value. As always the staff is great!
Great value for the price. Greens need some work.
Great value. $10 golf now price. $2.50 beers also a plus. Low end course in regard to greens, fairways and tee boxes.
Nice little course!
Great value for money and not too busy. I really liked the course - notably holes 10, 17 and 18. All the par 5s are reachable in two but many fairways are narrow targets to compensate this. The carts are good quality and the staff are usually helpful. The clubhouse facilities are very basic but that didn't bother me at all. I would definitely recommend the course and will try to play it at least once a week over the summer.
Rugged
this would be such a beautiful course if it was maintained better. Greens are absolutely horrible, fairways were rough as well as tee boxes. Definitely not worth the price until they clean it up
Very nice course
The course was very nice and green. I would play here again.
Great Course
Meadowbrook was a fun course to play. It provided a decent challenge with great scenery (A hawk was standing on the 17th hole flag).
Two of the greens and a few of the tee boxes could use a little work but the fairways were in excellent condition. Will be playing there again.
Good day all around
Course was in fairly decent shape at this time in the summer. Greens has a few burnout spots but overall good course condition. A good everyday course to work on various parts of ones game.
You get what you pay for
Good course to work on your tee to green. Greens are in terrible shape. Food is ok. Back nine is more challenging than the front. Bring extra balls, just in case. Par 5s are too short for average to advanced golfer. One of which is only 381 yards.
Similar in quality to Imperial Lakes G&CC, Glen Abbey GC, & Huntington GC.
11:45 hot deal tee time w/ wife for $12.72/ea thru GolfNow. Prime time rate is $26/round. Was already in Gainesville visiting so decided to play this course. Has many unique holes. Predominantly tree lined in a subdivision setting. They crammed 18 holes into a small area but this was a fun & challenging track although not maintained. Tee boxes were dirt & weeds. Course is laden w/ weeds. Greens were very bumpy, medium paced & attempting to be lost. I don't think any winter grass was ever laid down & I don't think the fairways were cut today, couldn't delineate fairways from roughs @ times. Battery powered carts w/ windshield & rain cover in back. Pro Shop w/ minimal merchandise, didn't even have logo caps. After round was completed, wanted a nice hot meal but Eatery was dark & dingy, had ran out of certain foods & had turned off grill so we ate elsewhere. It's a shame they don't maintain it.
Friendliest staff I've been around
Play here often. For the most part the golf course is challenging. Tee areas and greens could use a little work.
Great Staff
You can't have a bad time at meadowbrook. The staff are all very friendly. Course has a great layout.
I just played here yesterday, and I couldn't agree with this review more. It's very sad how far down hill this course has fallen. It used to be a great course.
