Worst course in Alachua County, maybe even in Florida.
Greens had large depressions, weeds, and bare spots. Fairways had weeds & dirt patches. Teeing ground was uneven, overgrown, and dirt patches. Very obvious that 0$ is spent on golf course. Great layout, good location, tons of potential. I hope changes are made soon.
beautiful day
Beautiful day, course was not in the best shape, the greens were weedy
A course to avoid.
The number of weeds seems roughly equal to the number of grass blades. However, both the weeds and the grass are mowed. Many bare sanded spots in the fairways and on greens. Lots of standing water covered with green slime. Paved cart paths are frequently broken or buckled, making the cart path ride rough going. Best thing about the course: a friendly and helpful staff both in the pro shop and on the course. That staff deserves a better course to work on.
So few options in Gainesville..
This course is what it is, as far as golf in Gainesville is concerned. I've played this course dozens of times over the past few years and it's never going to get any better. Great for short game practice; you'll never really need more than a 5 iron to play the course (I'm a low handicap). Greens are slow and furry at best, sandy at worst. The only way to play this course is through a Golf Now deal, because the course is grossly over-priced. However, this is the nature of the beast in Gainesville. There are just so few options to play golf in Gainesville, and because of that, they can charge whatever they wish, no matter what conditions of the course are.
Has seen better days. Meadowbrook is now Pasturebrook.
I haven't played this course in about 12 years, it was a very enjoyable course and was well maintained, but never were there weeds growing out of the greens! What happened? When I was walking up to the club house I noticed the putting green had weeds growing out of it. I thought it was a bit strange and I jokingly asked if the course was closing. The guy said "No why do you say that?" I said " well there are weeds growing out of your practice putting green" He said he he'd check it out and that he didn't notice. I went to the first hole teed off and then I realized how bad the course was. There was crab grass growing out of all the holes. Patches of it in the middle of the green, it was unputtable and just embarrassing. I ended up just skipping putting it was so bad. Joined up with 2 gentlemen and we talked about the condition of the course and how it used to be. Hole 18, I pulled out a 6 inch weed in the middle of the green so I could putt. It's not the worst course i've played, however if they don't get a hold of it it's going to just crash. I remember when the golfers here used to call ironwood, ironweed. I believe the tables have turned.
Meadowbrook...
I played Meadowbrook a ton when I was in high school/college just under 20 years ago - went back to Gainesville for a visit and tried to play. Granted the course was soaked due to a ton of rain but the conditions would not have been much better if it was dry... Some of the fairways were barely grass at all... It didn't really live up to my memories of the place - probably is just a good place for the senior citizen residents of that area to go hack around...
