Needs Sand
No sand in any of the traps makes this course a 2 instead of an 8 or 9!!
Challanging
Long course for seniors but beautiful layout. Friendly staff, good price. I will play it as long as I play golf if it remains this way.
Cart path only, course was not wet or soft
I played on Tuesday, July 4th. We have not had much if any rain for several weeks, and while it did rain on Sunday, July 2nd, it wasn’t enough to warrant cart path only restriction. This caused a longer round, 5 hours to complete instead of 4. I could understand the 90 degree rule, but cart path only was really unnecessary in my opinion.
Fun course
George Dunne is fun and challenging to play (can make it easier by moving up tee boxes). You get to use every club in your bag. Course was in pretty good shape, especially with the lack of rain in June. Even though the course was dry it was cart path only, which slowed down play. It was a little over a 5 hour round. My only complaint is that the bunkers were rock hard but not that big of a deal in my eyes. With that said I’ll likely play it a couple more times this year. One of my favorite Chicagoland courses.
Dunne
The course is challenging but fun. I really enjoyed the greens.
Hanging Strong
Despite the challenges all courses are having these days, especially the ones with loads of huge bunkers, George Dunne is hanging strong as a really fun golf challenge. Yes, you have to rake & roll in every bunker. Yes, you have to decide what to do around the greens when you have a bare lie in a spot not originally intended to be bare. But yes, this track will still test your game as it always has, and as of yesterday the fairways and greens are in great shape. They've been smart this year about where they're spending their water budget, and the staff is as friendly as always.
A++ Maintenance
I cannot overemphasize enough the impressive condition of the meticulously manicured terrain @ George Dunne, as I really enjoyed my golfing experience at this venue….also, the staff were courteous, friendly and accommodating….will be back soon.
