Great course considering damage by tornado.
Course facilities were being rebuilt due to tornado damage. A very pretty course with some difficult holes. I will play again.
Getting better
Always enjoy playing here. The course is getting better, most of the greens and fairways were in good condition. It’s coming along nicely for what they started with. A few more seasons and it will be great.
continued improvement
Had hot deal time on a saturday morning. a little congested in the beginning, but the round was 4 1/2 hours even with having to wait occasionally on the group in front. some scrappy areas on the greens, but last week had some terrible heat. The course is better than last year and recovering from tornado damage previously. Fairly flat overall with some mild elevation changes, and you can usually see where you are supposed to aim.
I really like this course. The owner is getting it in shape slowly but surely. Its definitely in better shape than last year. Its becoming one of my favorite courses. Will definitely play again!
Hidden Gem
They are still working their way back from the tornado, but this course is clearly on the upswing. The staff was great. The value was solid. Know your distances or the course will be very tough. Can’t wait to see it evolve!
Worth a Play
Haven’t played much golf so that I’d do something different. I had played this about 10 years ago and thought it was nice. My “complaints” are similar to other course conditions noted on other reviews. My biggest thumbs down is no ice for my beer cooler. Lol. I’ll be back though.
Hoping for success as they rebuild
You will find no better layout in the Dayton area Unfortunately this course has a long way to go condition wise as the current owner tries to rebuild the mess from previous owners and the course being closed for several years. I will continue to support and hope others do as well and we continue to see improvements
Slow and steady progress
Been playing this course about once a month. Staff is friendly enough that you want to keep coming back! Every time we see another improvement. This time we finally saw a little movement on the future clubhouse. Hope to see continued improvements!
Gray wolf 7/6/23
The course is coming along The greens are excellent, bunkers are clean and enough sand to play a proper shot Fairways were mowed and green It will take a couple of years to clean out all the weeds Clubhouse is under construction I’m hoping the progress continues I love the layout
Long course
I actually really like this course. I love that it is such a long course and challenging. I know the course still has a long way to go and I only gave it three stars in hopes of giving it 5 stars in the near future.
Here are my reasons for not giving it 5 stars:
1. Tee boxes are way too tall (grass) and weeds growing in tee box.
2. Some of the greens need aerated pretty bad.
3. I talked with the golf course super and asked if they had plans to re-due the sand traps and he said they were working on it now and some of the sand traps were already done. That was a little worrisome as no sand trap that I had noticed had near enough sand in them, the sand was the consistency of cheap playground sand, lots of pebbles and big rocks in the sand traps and TONS of grass growing up through the sand, which re-iterates my statement of not near enough sand in the traps.
Still has a long way to go to get in good shape
We played this course in early spring and there hasn’t been a whole lot of improvement. The sand traps were almost unplayable, several greens were in bad shape - mostly sand, and very little work has been performed on the future clubhouse. The fairways have shown a little improvement but have a long way to go. On the bright side the employees have been outstanding. We will probably wait until early fall and try this course again.
Very challenging layout from the Blues
Tough course. Some greens excellent shape others are poor. Roll good. Lot of rough area needs to be seeded and most sand traps are not raked, or good sand. I can see with some TLC and finish of clubhouse would be a course I would play a few times a year. A lot of crosswind with the length not an easy course.
Great price
Excellent course for the money. Wide open fairways yet very challenging. Very friendly staff including the graywolf himself. Which is a big beautiful husky that greets you when you arrive. They are in the process of rebuilding somethings since the tornadoes but does affect the gorgeous course
Needs work. Give them time
If I understand correctly this course was abandoned or not maintained for a few years. It shows! The course is in poor shape. But they’re good signs for a revival. There is new ownership, A new clubhouse is being built and repairs to the course are being made. He course layout was enjoyable to play and with irrigation the fairways and greens will completely playable.
With time and an influx of capital this can be a gem of a course.
