Shame to see this course in its current condition
I used to consider this my home course about 4 years ago so it pains me to see it this bad. I played a round here in February and the greens were horrible. I figured it was because our rough winter freezes so I figured I would give it a couple month and try it out again. To my surprise, the greens were completely re-sodded. Even the practice green. Evidently there was a costly mistake with some fertilizer and the greens burned out completely. I would not recommend a round out here for at least couple more months depending on how well the new sod takes.
Great coarse
There was plenty of water and sand traps on every whole. I played from the blues to give the coarse more of a challenge. We saw several alligators on the coarse which is always nice to see. But my favorite part was none of the wholes overlapped. If you hit it too far left or right you were in the woods or rough. This is a great coarse for the money.
Great course to play (in a couple of months)
Ok, so this is one of my regular courses and I love it, and yesterday was no exception. We always see a good number of alligators on the back 9 and yesterday was no exception. That being said there is one thing you should know before booking the round and that's that the greens were all re-sodded so they are nowhere near ready to roll smooth. That being said however, my friends and I were willing to play with a "anywhere within 5 feet is good" attitude and still had a great time. The cost of the round also reflected this and I give credit to the course for not trying to gloss over the conditions, they've taken almost 50 percent off regular price while the greens are rough and I applaud them for that. IF you are wanting to concentrate on putting, wait for the greens to grow in, if you're just looking for a nice round to get out and play, then by all means, go ahead and book the round. Great course to play.
Awesome staff
If you want a great day at a great course then this is the one for you. I have played here many times and have never been disappointed! Golf here with confidence!!
Greens
If you like not being able to putt, go play. They resodded the greens and they are terrible! I seriously wonder if the super has a clue. The greens are as bad as they were when they died a year ago. Not worth the money!!!
Review
Course was in great shape except the greens. They had laid down new sod and crazy weather has prevented great growth. Hopefully this will change over the next few months. We were given a coupon to come back and play in a few months to see how well the greens will progress.
Back 9 is challenging, pace of play was horrible. Back 9 we were 2 groups on every tee box; Marshalls should do better job of telling groups abt pace of play.
Legend Oaks Plantation Golf Club review
The greens had just been replaced and putting was difficult but should get fine in a few weeks. The course was GREAT, I enjoyed the play and the fairways were wonderful!
Great Staff
I called ahead and asked about the greens after reading the reviews on Golf Now and was told they were a work in progress after a total re-sodding, but getting better. I showed up hit some off the mats and putted on the re-sodded putting green and joined a group.
The course was challenging, but the carts are equipped with a large screen GPS which helped a lot. Most of the local courses around North Charleston and Summerville don't have them, so it was a nice bonus.
The greens were rough, but playable. The fairways were in great shape and our group had a nice afternoon.
My only issue is with this course is not having a driving range; my personal preference.
Bad greens
Bad greens just got new sod couldn't putt, alligators everywhere, great hotdogs good course
Horrendous Greens
Greens appear to have just been redone causing it to be lumpy, sandy, unreadable. I understand these thing get done from time to time, but it would be a courteous gesture to let the players know before purchasing the round. Everything else was great, just somewhat bitter because I felt the greens took away an opportunity to set set a new personal best score.
Poor putting surfaces
Greens are in rough shape, just put in new greens on all 18 and it shows. Fairways and tee boxes were good but putting on the greens was impossible due to the condition.
Hoping it improves because the overall layout was good and the rest of the course was in good condition.
Get what you pay for
This course is one of my favorite courses to play. The only thing that bothered me was that they were replacing all the greens so they were completely unplayable (which I understand) but they were still charging full price for a round of golf. I don't think that's very fair. Other than the greens the course was in perfect shape.
Putting on Sand. Uneven Greens
Usually when a golf course replaces all of their putting greens, they close the facility or notify the customers. Putting on sandy uneven greens takes the fun out of playing golf.
WARNING under construction
The fairways and tee boxes were decent but they failed to mention that they JUST re-sodded the greens, making putting a JOKE. We knew the back nine was closed for "renovation" but were not informed of the condition of the greens...Very disappointing. Once they get their act together, the course should be better than ever. Why they waited so late to reconstruct the course, I do not no. Until then," GO PLAY" somewhere else.
Great course
Legend oaks is a very nice forgiving course! Also they are very friendly I had to change a tee time the day of and they worked with me! I would definitely reccommend this course to others!
Course conditions
I wish their situation was a little more transparent. I usually like the course but went with only one 9 in play and the greens redone. Course is really not suitable for anything serious. I really like the course but it's been a tough winter and greens are in need of 6 months of no play. I hope it comes back but really noticed that cart paths are quite out of shape. Wishing the course the best of luck- I would rather see it take a break and come back stronger rather than push through the spring. Staff is very nice and gave us a free greens fee for later this year.
Course not playable + staff rude
We purchased a later tee time for 18 holes. We were not told until we arrived that a) only the front 9 was open due to maintenence; and b) the front 9's greens were being completely re-sodded. The overall effect was similar to putting on strips of loosely put together remnant carpeting. Then, to add insult to injury, a maintenance kid zoomed by us on the 7th fairway and proceeded to remove all the remaining flags! We had to finish 7 and play 8 and 9 with no flags. This course was unplayable. Pulling the flags was extremely rude. Our money was as much stolen as it was paid. Never again. Buyer beware!
great course,challenging
We knew they were reseeding greens, but love playing this course.Fairways are green.very friendly staff unlike other courses such as Crowfield.I'm sure once they have greens all done this will be even better than before. You won't be disappointed.
This course does not drain well
The course was too wet to enjoy. I used to play it a lot. Now I rarely do. Front 9 was closed while re-building the greens. Back 9 greens need to be re-built next. There are water hazards on nearly every hole. Even so, the fairways and greens were way to wet.
When people call they are told. If booked on golfnow we cant tell you but the reviews are there. They will be real nice in a few weeks.
