The Cape Club of Palm City

I’ll admit that I did not care for this place – then called The Fox Club – the first couple of times I played it. Like many of Florida’s worst golf courses, it was ridiculously narrow off the tee, with homes and trees leaning over fairways and greens. All I could think about was how many balls I was about to lose.

While the course is still plenty demanding, its new ownership, combined with Troon management, have it looking as good and playing as sensibly as it has in its more than 30-year lifetime. Tree removal, new greens and other improvements in the summer of 2022 have paid off, and the course breathes just well enough to make golfers feel like they have a fighting chance. There are still some holes that will always be a little awkwardly tight – 9 and 15 (formerly 18 and 6; the nines have been flipped) come to mind – but things are looking up and the club, now private, is gaining members, who also have access to two Cape Club properties in Massachusetts. Not a bad summer perk!

What a beautiful course. Very pretty and challenging. This course will make you use every club in your bag and will make you shot shape all throughout. I was informed at the pro shop that the club will close for renovations in July until end of the year, at which point it will become a members only club, so if you haven't had the chance of playing it, go and try it. They don't let you walk this course as some of the holes are pretty far from each other. On to the review: overall this is definitely a 5-star course and worthy of becoming a members only club. It is pristine from tee to green and very pretty all throughout. The greens are challenging, with good amounts of undulation and they roll pretty true. The sand in the bunkers is super soft, you if hit the sand way before the ball, the ball won't come out. The course itself plays pretty tight, it is my only negative as I'm not a very straight golfer, but this is pretty typical of golf courses in Florida in residential complexes. One thing that surprised me is that this course has a decent amount of elevation for Florida, which is pretty nice. I would love to play here again, but seeing that it's going to go full private, I doubt I'll have the chance. Though I had a pretty bad round, I enjoyed every moment as if it was my last time playing here, because it probably was.

I paid with GOLFNOW app and they didn’t accept it and charged me anyway. They also called and canceled my 4pm tee time because no one was on the course and I had to move my date to the next day. They are closing the public and going private. Good for them .

My wife and I played the course in under 3 hours. From tee to the green was in perfect condition. We will make it a regular stop

Course is very challenging off the tee. I am a steady 7-8 handicap and played the gold tees. You face a lot of very tight driving zones. Conditions were great and staff and members were very friendly and accommodating. We were told by one of the staff they are returning to being a private club as soon as 6/30-22, so take advantage of the opportunity to play now. Well worth playing.

The employees was rude and very unfriendly. We started to leave,and our Jeep wouldn't start. Asked the employee that was still there to jump Us off, he said the maintenance staff had already left and he didn't have time. Luckily there was 2 young men that was finishing up golfing and the offered to help Us. If they hadn't, Who knows what we would have done.

Found out this was my last round, as the course was recently acquired and will re-open November 1st as a private club. Too bad - it's a great course and enjoys a wonderful staff.
It's not the first and certainly won't be last course in Florida to change hands, but this one will be a big loss for much of the local golf community.

Love the layout and challenge. Greens were firm and true. First time playing but will get back often

Super dry conditions, no range balls, but a decent track to play.

Great course for the money. Biggest complaint would be tee box conditions. Fairways and greens were great. I’d take greens that roll better than clean tee boxes anyway.
