The roughs were way to heavy it looks like they haven't been cut down for quite some time. Cow pasture thick
I'd go back - could be better.
Pros: I love the layout of this course. For the money, it's a great value.
Cons: Pace of play was slow. Greens were very soft and fuzzy, making them unpredictable in terms of speed.
Terrific course.
So enjoy playing Dogwood Hills... the back 9 holes are some of the best you can play. Course is in pristine condition.
Hidden Gem
Definitely on our list to play again. The course was in wonderful condition. Fairways are plush and the greens were well manicured and perfect speed. Doris came out to say hello after we finished our round. Challenging but fair. Absolutely loved Dogwood Hills!!!
Dogwood Hills value
A good value golf course for the $45 cost. Would help if they had a starter or a clearer #1 tee off section. Everybody just shows up and tees off whenever. I will be back. Greens were smooth but a bit slow.
Beautiful golf experience
My first time to play this golf course since I moved to Alabama. I did not use any of the amenities at the golf course. The staff was friendly. The warm-up area with driving range and putting green were in good shape. The golf course was in very good shape. The greens were beautiful. The course was somewhat wet because of recent rain. It was a great experience, and I will return to play that golf course often.
Could be great, is barely average
I love the golf course and layout and scenery. First, in its defense we had a lot of rain the two days prior. So the conditions were SOME out of their control.
But having said that. The greens look like they hadn’t been mowed in a week or two which made them both insanely slow and hold too much water. No effort had been made to roll them to get some of the moisture out. Every putt had a rooster tail coming off of it. Again, some of that isn’t the course’s fault, but some is.
The mowing in general needs improvement. There is no starter and almost no communication about what tee time is up. There was a group of five on the course. There was a snack bar and they’d warmed up hot dogs but the bread was chewy.
Bottom line is I like that plot of land. The design of the course is good. It’s rural and I know that doesn’t help it on the revenue side. But it could be a great little golf course with some what I’d think are simple actions.
It’s not bad. It can just be better.
I usually go to this course to escape the crowds and the city, but reason price hikes and getting behind groups of 5-6 that don’t know golf etiquette has grown increasingly frustrating. Jabo leaving has made an immediate negative impact, but I hope it turns around. Don’t bother playing the bunkers here
Do you need to have a Marshall. Don’t need groups of six.
The pace was very slow, and they did not have any marshals to pick up the pace of the game.
Great course for the value
This is not going to be the nicest course that you will ever play. But the golf far exceeds the value.
Sweet Greens
Beautiful views on very good layout with perfect bentgrass greens. Only negative would be silly placement of pond blocking fairway on number 2. It would be a beautiful playable elevation challenge type hole without the pond coming out so prominately.
