Just play it
It was a payable course with some risk reward possibilities. You have to manage the course but not overly so. It's playable and challenging at the same time.
The club house employees are super nice, accommodating and helpful!
This Course a good layout. Very enjoyable.
Course in good shape. Greens a little slow but good.
Enjoy playing courses that give us a break on the green fees.
Beautiful setting. Azaleas were in bloom. Established course in good condition. Houses around course are set back and unobtrusive. Nice design and good value compared to other courses in the area. One of our favorites.
Pace of play problems
This is a very nice course with reasonable rates. I’ve played here during the winter the past few years. However, on this occasion I was very disappointed in the pace of play. Apparently, the course allows fivesomes to play. When I asked about this I was told “ fivesomes are allowed as like ng as they can play at the pace of a foursome.“ That is a stupid answer. A fivesome cannot physically play as fast as a foursome. However, I would be satisfied if they at least could keep up with the group ahead of them. I saw one ranger on the course but that certainly did not solve the problem. I also saw at least one sixsome playing. This is ridiculous. A bottle neck was created that really took away from the enjoyment of the round. When I asked about it at the turn, the starter merely said “there are a lot of people on the course. There are no there is no place for them to go.” If they have a Ranger out actively working with the golfers it will improve the pace of play.
Very Nice Course
The course was in good condition and was a challenge for a 22 handicapper from the Teal Tees - course plays long. Also the Teal Tees bring the fairway bunkers into play - while the sand is good, getting good contact out takes a better golfer than I. The only bad thing on the course was they allow 5 somesomes to play and it slows down the pace of the game - we had at least 2 fivesomes in front of our foursome and unfortunately for the 2 someson in back of us - the pace was really slow.
On the coast from Boston for vacation. Had a great time, course and greens were in great shape. Reasonably priced. Would definitely play again.
Overpriced, undermaintained, under trained
Starter gave no info other than to go.
After hitting tee shots we drove out to the first ball.
Stater came up and yelled - "hey, it's cart path only!"
I said - "no one informed us of that".
He said - "they didn't tell you at the pro shop desk?"
(Where I come from - that's the starter's job.)
Lady at the desk just said we were prepaid and told us where the carts were.
Greens were slow and edges of the course were very rough. We didn't get that much rain and it was sunny and dry for 2-1/2 days beforehand.
There are much nicer courses than this one in the area that are better maintained, charge less, drain better and have helpful, well-trained staff. This one appears to need new management.
Would definitely recommend
Very professional staff, from bag drop to pro shop to starter, everyone was helpful and friendly. Golf course was in decent shape considering the recent weather conditions. Greens in good shape but slow probably due to cloudy and moist day. Would like to play again when the sun and temp. improve. It would be a different experience for sure.
Very nice course
Front 9 played as fast as i wanted. Back 9 got bogged down and mich slower. Nice course that you will need to play more than once to know the layout. Overall a good day to golf and enjoyed this course
Excellent value for a good course conditions in mid-February
Staff was exceptional and our group enjoyed our outing- even though the fairways were very wet from recent rain. The greens and sand bunkers were in very good condition.
Look forward to playing this course again.
I am so happy with the staff at Gulf Shores. Rain was predicted and would’ve made our tee time miserable. They were kind enough to let us move up our tee time, even though it was a hot deal.
The course was in very good condition and the greens were great! I look forward to going back again soon!
Course was in very good condition, although a little wet in the fairways due to rain. Will certainly play again! Good smooth greens with lots of breaking putts
Wet and soggy
Always a very challenging track GSGC played wet today and no rainchecks after only 9 holes completed.
