Harder than the distance would indicate
First time playing the course. The weather was chilly ,but sunny.
Found out that the greens are small and crowned. With it being winter and the grass being dead ,it was hard to keep the ball on the green. Can't wait until summer to come and try this course again.
Can be a tough little course
This can be a tough little course - turtle back greens that are postage-stamp size, a lot of uphill approaches, and winter conditions. There are bunkers. But the close-clipped fairways and uphill approaches challenge the player NOT to be short; yes, it will roll all the way back. The turtle-back greens challenge the player to pick, and hit, the proper area of the green.
That was not a complaint. I think it's an honest assessment. It is why I return to play this course.
Okay, I guess...
I've played this course before and thought it was okay. It's open, for the most part. I was able to land on, and stay on, the greens. And the ball generally rolled as expected.
This time was a little different. I've no idea what changed. The Ball rolled - a lot. And since a lot of approaches are uphill. Yup, you guessed correctly, a lot of negative yards. And you cannot be long on most of the holes. Since the greens are humpbacked, they drain well - and roll well too. I was only able to hold 2 greens, probably hit 9.
Due to the roll on the majority of fairways, I think I played the distance of an extra par 4.
Okay, that's the negatives. Positives, the greens roll well, seem to be consistent, and roll true. The pace of play was really good. I played by myself and didn't catch anyone until the 16th hole. For the price paid I did get what I paid for... it was a really good practice round.
If you play this course watch the slopes of the fairways and play position accordingly.
YEP
Only thing better than playing the course is the guys in the clubhouse.
Not Long - Challenging - Elevations
This is a very interesting course layout. Not long off the tees, but tons of elevation changes. Elevated greens that are old school bowl edges and not very large - makes for some scary uphill wedges where you do not want to hit the ball too far. The greens are great shape right now...but easy to miss. Then you need a good lob wedge. Multiple tees are a bit intimidating, but fair. Several tree-lined fairways - errant shots are usually found.
Still the Best Around
For the area, the price, the course quality, staff and amenities… you aren’t getting better than LW’s
Good value for the money.
This short layout is made more challenging by small, elevated greens.
The staff was very friendly and the pace of play was excellent.
Best Condition Ever
Course was in outstanding shape, had the place to ourselves because we were the only ones silly enough to trudge through the rain!
Best in the Area
You just beat this place. It’s challenging, fun, grass is well kept. I’d suggest it and I’ll definitely be back.
Best In The Area
Challenging and fun course! Has everything the bigger courses have but way less expensive. It’s my favorite course in the area and I would highly recommend playing it
Nice course
Layout and conditions are average. Pace of play is fairly quick. But this is the situation regardless of weather conditions.
Good course for a warm up.
Very enjoyable to play with the elevations and layout.
