Golf Now on Warrior course
I booked 2 at 11am on a thursday . $27 each cart included- great value! Course conditions were great- greens excellent, fairways dry but cut to reasonable short length- dry due to recent drought. taller grass outside fairways recently cut to 8 inch for linx out of bounds and 3-4 in for roughs just off fairways- pace of play was great - did 18 holes in 3.2 hours
Excellent round of golf!
On a sunny Alabama day with a lovely golf
Course, nothing disappointed! The greens were
fast and immaculate. The fairways were perfect!!
Great course
Great course, I've played many military base golf courses, this is one of the best!
First Time
Liked the course however the reception in the Clubhouse was not friendly…but the course and the folks who ran the course made up for this less than warm reception….
Great conditions - summer in the south
Nice Alabama summer day - hot, humid, but no precipitation. Course was in great shape. Rough was moderate, but playable. Long grass areas on Warrior were recently groomed down, so an errant shot had a chance to be found and you could decide whether to take a chance playing it. I was asingle and finished in about 3 hours. The foursomes in front of me were gracious to let me play through.
Good practice round.
Redstone Arsenal courses are worth it
Get the Rec Pass as you can't play this course on the military base without one (they are free)
I mostly love how this place is NOT overcrowded.
The courses and grass range were in great shape,
Great food and drinks at decent prices.
Electric carts come with rain covers.
Only thing this place is sorely missing is a bev cart, gotta make quite a detour at the turn to grab refreshments, but other than that, this place is solid!
We got rained out
Big storms rolled in on us and we were forced to take shelter for a couple of hours. Does anyone know how to get reimbursed through golf now?
Redstone on a hot day
The golf course was in fair condition for the most part. The greens were extremely slow because of the sand from a recent aeration. There were a few fairways that were starting to go away but nothing that really hurt the play. The bunkers were in good shape. The place of play was great. We never got held up and never got pushed even though the place was packed. The biggest drawback is there’s not much shade and no beverage cart. We could not bring an outside cooler and if you don’t get your refreshments at the start there’s not another real opportunity. If they had somebody running a snack cart they would have made bank on me that day. I will definitely play here again and plan accordingly next time.
Great place to play
Staff is always friendly and professional l. Course is great up!
Average golf course. Grass will be better in a few months. Rack rate tie the course is way overpriced.
Unable To Play Due To Misinformation
This course is located on an army base. I was not forewarned that I would need a special recreational pass to actually get to the course (nothing on the website or the golf app I used explained this). And apparently the office that does these requests are only open on the weekdays. You have to go through in my opinion way too much trouble just to play on what's considered a " public course". We made a long trip for absolutely nothing and I do not recommend this course unless you like to be probed for a special access badge. Also, gate guards are very combative, especially if you are not familiar with the area.
Not a bad public course
While this course has two 18-hole tracks and is located on Redstone Arsenal, it is open to the public. The course is maintained as well as an affordable public course can be. The course design is fun, but the greens and bunkers need some attention. Overall, fun and affordable to play.
Good Trek
We played the Warrior course because Patriot was closed. It's more of a links style layout which is fun on occasion. Greens were good speed....the fairways need spring/summer to come. It worth playing if you're in the area.
Fairways need grass
The Patriot course at the Links at Redstone Arsenal is a great design. Very interesting course. What takes the fun from the course is the exceptionally poor fairways. Apparently, the agronomists at the course do not know agronomy. Ie, they don't know how to grow grass. Disappointing.
Contrary to popular belief.. this is not truly a public golf course. It's on an army base therefore you have to obtain a special recreational pass just to get to the golf course. From My understanding you cannot get this pass unless it's during the weekdays. Needless to say I made a trip for nothing and was not warned about said pass. I'm not from the area so I had no way of knowing this.
