Blue/Red at Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort
About
With a unique location on an island in the Delaware River, Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort boasts 27 scenic holes of championship golf. The island dates back to long ago when Pennsylvania was still covered by glacial ice fields. The Wisconsin Glacier, one of the last glaciers, formed the island when it melted. Today, the gently rolling landscape is abundant with trees and wildlife, providing a secluded atmosphere that is perfect for golf. The three nines are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Blue/Red Course crisscrosses the landscape, offering beautiful views of the surrounding Poconos Mountains along the way. The layout is mostly flat but there are some strategically placed bunkers to keep it interesting. In addition to the three courses, there is also a nine-hole, par-3 course.

Over bookef
To many people golfing 27 holes are to close together I felt rushed all day and there was golf balls flying everywhere
Different and Enjoyable, a must play course
Personnel friendly and helpful. Good practice facility. Challenging lay out, greens in good shape. Enjoyed playing here.
Lovely gem
I hadn't played the course in over 2o years. It was nice to be back. The greens were fantastic and the course maintenence was great. The bunkers could use more sand, but they weren't bad at all. Scenic, peaceful and challenging enough for all levels of play.
We caught up to a outing ahead of us on the 15th hole, but otherwise it was clear sailing.
Really enjoyed the course.
Great course
Will definitely play here again
Lots of doglegs
I played on a weekday morning, and the course wasn't heavily packed. My first time playing this course. I played the white/blue.
Course was in pretty good shape. Fairways were good with only occasional problems in the rough. Tee boxes were well kept and the markers move often to keep them fresh. The greens were in very good shape and rolled consistent. Speed was a little faster than average but not a problem. The greens weren't overly difficult as a rule, but a few were a challenge.
They had lots of marshals to help at the intersection of the 3 nine hole segments. Food truck and snack building were good, clubhouse had some good merchandise selection.
The course isn't super long and the difference between whites and blues didn't seem much different to account for the yardage listed. But honestly they may have been further up than normal. It's generally flat and lots of doglegs. I played a good variety of clubs during the round which I enjoy. Most everyone will like playing the course. As for it being a resort, its older and this course doesn't stand up to most of them in the poconos region. But playing this after the Nicklaus designed course they also manage might be a nice break. It's a good course to play overall.
Fairways and ruff in good condition, sand traps need work
Very nice course, has great history and trees are an assist. Service was very good traps need some TLC.
Shawnee golf course
As always this course was in excellent shape from tees to greens very well maintained. Had an early tee time and my two sons and I were out in under four hours was almost like speed golf. Even though I had a real bad day hitting the ball...... I can't blame it on the course, have played here several times this year and is always enjoyable even if I don't hit well. I fell this is a real gem in the poconos. Love this course even if it beats me up.
Excellent experience
The course was in excellent shape. Some of the holes are very challenging off of the tee but the course was fair. Unique design with 24 holes on an island was scenic and enjoyable. Can't wait to get back.
always good
I don't think we've had a bad round at Shawnee. greens in great shape particularly like blue -red. the bald eagle in the tree with nest is an added bonus.overall nothing but praise.
Shawnee
Hadn't been there in 20 years. A great deal's been done to improve / restore the facility.
Gleason would be proud..........
Nice course
Course is well maintained and has forgiving fairways. Will be even prettier once trees have bloomed. Nice staff. Will play here again soon. Three nines minimized congestion.
Resort gem
Good layout fair course where good shots are rewarded and bad ones aren't!!! Classic layout.
Enjoyable
Getting around from hole to hole can be quite confusing your first time or two but once you get to know the course it becomes very enjoying , well maintained and always friendly staff. Had a great time today , going again tomorrow
Not as interesting as I expected
From the road the holes look awesome, but at closer look, the conditions were a littler rough. I know it's the beginning of the season so I wasn't expecting ideal turf conditions. Overall the fairways were in decent shape while the rough was torn up, mostly due to the fact that there no cart paths except right off the tee and around the greens. So the carts eat up the grass in the rough. If you land in the rough you have almost no grass on which to hit.
The starter never cracked a smile and was very unpleasant. Then we got scolded for driving a cart around the green on the 1st hole even though there weren't any signs on that hole regarding carts.
The holes on the White tees were weird...the first 5 holes were pars 5,3,5,3, and 5. Very strange but a good change of pace.
Another thing to note is that even though it's in March it was really buggy there. I can't imagine how buggy it would be in the summer months. One sand trap was covered in sand flies hovering over the entire trap. Mosquitos were already all over the place.
First tee off in this year.
This course was open last week.
Good condition on green and fairway.
overall...great course.
A nice cool day of golf
The shot gun start was delayed because of frost. The course was in good shape. I was alone that day and partnered up with a group of guys from Stroudsberg collage we all had a really nice end of season day of golf.
Shawnee
I really appreciate that the grounds crew vacuumed the levels off the course. I played two other courses this fall that didn't bother doing anything about the leave and lost balls in plains sight on fairways. The wasn't the case here.
Not what I expected
I have owned a timeshare at Shawnee for many years and like the area. I did not start playing golf until 3 years ago, but always thought the course would be a really good one. I am sure with all the trees dropping their leaves and the place getting ready to shut down for the season, it wasn't at its best. But I expected more. I will play at Shawnee again, they do take good care of the course, it just wasn't as nice as I had hoped it would be.
Nice course
I played Shawnee for the first time the other day and we played the Red/White course. Off the 27 holes the offer are settled at the base of the mountains and run along side the river. Golf can be stressful at times but at Shawnee the mountain range and river alongside the course help keep you relaxed. The course was in great shape even though they just aerated the one course and the pro staff was more than friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is he driving range. Hey need to replace the betting on both sides and clean it up for a more professional appearance. Other than that I recommend Shawnee to everybody. Great place
Beautiful and challenging
This is not a long course, but the small Tillinghast greens make it a challenge. Most of the course lies on an island in the Delaware River, and the two holes that call for a shot over part of the river add a little bit of excitement. This is a nice course for beginners, but tough enough to be fun for better players as well.
