Red/White at Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort
About
Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort is home to three different nines: the Red, the White, and the Blue. They are played in three 18-hole combinations that each offer a different set of challenges. All of the courses share a verdant landscape covered with trees provided by its unique location on an island in the middle of the Delaware River. Across the water, the Poconos Mountains serve as a stunning backdrop. The Red/White Course sprawls across a flat landscape, crisscrossing a few times along the way. Strategically placed bunkers and thick cuts of rough come into play throughout. In addition to the three golf courses, Shawnee Inn also boasts extensive practice facilities that include a driving range and a nine-hole, par-3 course that offers great practice with holes of varying lengths.

Classic layout
Unexpected surprise. Outstanding value on GolfNow in the fall. Greens rolling like mid-season in November. Hat's off to the maintenance staff trying to pick up every leaf on the course - and succeeding. Would definitely play again. Historic clubhouse and resort. Staff is friendly, helpful and professional.
Beautiful Golf Course
I was excited to play Shawnee for the first time given the history and the design of the course. It did not disappoint. The course had a lot of character with the green complexes standing out the most. The greens were in great shape and rolling pretty fast. It was a very enjoyable round of golf with pace of play being 3.5 hours and good weather on a beautiful fall day. I would definitely recommend this course to others. The clubhouse/hotel is very cool as well.
great round of golf
great fall weather beautiful views of river made for great round. Did not expect flat course in the mountains.
Beautiful Course
Course was in excellent shape, the fairways were just cut and the traps had sand that you can hit out of. I would recommend this course, we also played the white as well. Most of the par 3's are long.
NIce course in the mountain area
The course condition is good in a pleasant day. The pace of play was slow in the front nine. However, starter move us to the blue nine. It makes thing faster.
Excellent Value. Great views
Staff friendly. Nice layout. Always look forward to playing here.
Nice course
Course was in great shape but the greens were just aerated so putting wasnt much fun but overall very nice and a def must play. I would go back anytime. Fairways were nice as well
Beautiful curse but...
....they had just aerated the greens. I shot a 97 (pretty high, I'm normally high 80's) mainly beacause I lost 8-10 strokes on putts going offline. Otherwise, one of the best courses I've played in terms of scenery this year. Challenging but not brutal, it helped to have a regular mixed in with my 4some to show us the way. I would def play again, I think its the perfect course for "fall golf"
different
6par 3s 4s 5s flat for a Pocono course. not just a pitch and putt course. you use every club in your bag. fun fair and a challenge. played the blue and white course
Great old course.
We played on a really hot day so the greens were left long and were really slow. Rough was also long and tough. Still a great course.
Over the River and onto a fun course
My first time playing Shawnee. What a nice old course, that has great fairways and greens. We played the Blue to Red course. On the second hole tee box if you look to your left, there's the Delaware. And it only gets better from there. A couple of par three's you tee off on one side of the river and hit to a green on the other side. Very cool. The views are great as are the course conditions. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food I only give three stars, but we only ate at the half way house. The service was quick and friendly and the food there was okay, hot dogs and burgers. I'm sure if you ate at the club house the menu is better. Overall a very enjoyable round of golf and I will be back often.
Great course
Had a great day. Was hitting the ball straight which is a big plus on this course. The staff here are super friendly and accommodating. The greens were in excellent condition. The views of the river are relaxing.
We were blessed to see a young eagle making the rounds!
Just a nice game!
playable course for all.
multiple tees make distance a non issue and fairways with some width so errant shots are usually still playable. we played as a twosome @ 1:50 pm and moved the whole time , under 4 hour round . Short par 8th hole on blue is all moguls can play more difficult than yardage.
Beautiful setting with interesting layout.
The course is challenging but fair with many well designed holes. The greens were fast and in good shape for a public course.
It could use some TLC on the cart paths and landscaping. It is a great value during the week. It rained heavily the night before and it was relatively dry. This course could be outstanding if it was maintained better.
Challenging Tee Offs
This course (the Red/White) was a good time. All tee offs had a danger factor which made this course tough. Lot of water. If you are not hitting straight, either water or thick rough.
Country club atmosphewre
The course was in great shape. My shceduled tee time was 10;57 but the starter had us listed at 11;06. However, we didn't get off untill around 11;45. This did not present much of a problem jsut delayed us somewhat.
the pace of play was good reound took a little over 4 & 1/2 hours. After round we sat at outside facility had a few beers and chilled out. The facility had barbecued hot dogs, hamburgers and susages. None of us ate anything but it smelled very good., Would recommned this course and facilities.
27 Classic Designed Holes to choose from
I love this course. Over the years have 25+ Rounds here. This is a resort so at times pace can be an issue but if you're looking to play a round and time is a non-issue you'll be hard pressed to find a better dollar-quality value. Most round are between 4 - 4.5 hours but you can get caught behind vacationers.
Classic is the best way to describe this old-time course, but make no mistake it still plays true and has teeth. Plays 6600-6800 yds (Depending on which 2 of 3 9's) from the tips but the bunkering and greens defend the course well. Tees, Fairways, Rough, and Greens are in very good condition with some sparse areas in the rough but few in areas you " should " be playing from. Position, in both the fairway and greens, and putting are the keys here. The undulating greens can run very quick when hot/dry with flat/straight putts a rarity. Great mix of holes with par 3 ranging from 159 - 231yrds with 2 over the Delaware. Par 5's range from 471-571yrds, with well bunkered, smallish, rolling greens, so every club is examined.
Great practice facility, Very friendly staff, Snack shed is small and somewhat dated but works for a quick bite / drinks. Views of the Delaware, Mountain Range ( particularly in the fall ), and wildllife ( A Bald Eagle makes its home to the right above #3 white ) make this a very scenic course and one you'll remember.
Great old-school golf experience
This is a wonderful historic golf course. It's not overly long like some courses today, but it is a fair test of golf. Bad shots are penalized and good shots are rewarded.
The course conditions were very good. The greens were smooth and puttable, and firm enough to keep your attention on hitting a good shot. Tees, fairways and rough were all in good shape.
Overall, a nice golf course.
One of top courses in area
Wide open course very flat.
Fairways were excellent.
Greens are very large but challenging pin placements with elevation changes.
