Not worth it
Goat Ranch. Terrible greens. Poana, stickers, crabgrass on the greens. Whole course is infested in stickers, clover, poana, and clover. Not well maintained. Grass growing over cart paths. The school should put some TLC in it and they could have a nice course.
Good layout, terrible greens
This was my first time playing the course. Course itself is in decent condition, it’s dormant and fairways are pretty firm. Bunkers had decent sand and were in good condition. The greens are probably the worst I e ever played on. So bumpy and patches of sand like mini-bunkers all over. Could be a really nice course if the greens are fixed.
This should be in better condition
I thought with this course being at a major university it should have been maintained more than it was.
Grant Gladish
Pretty good course. Couple short par 4’s on the cusp of drivable greens. Improved their greens from last time I played no more patches of grass (it was like playing plinko last time) now its smooth, but pretty slow.
Awful Course
Absolute worse greens you will find in Baton Rouge. They have sand holes and divots all over the greens. Almost impossible to putt. As far as the rest of the course goes, it’s very mid. Roughs are bad and fairways are fine. I would go to Webb or City Park over this course any day. LSU is ridiculous for charging as much as they do with the condition of their course the way it is especially with neighboring golf courses charging the same price and taking wayy better care of their course.

Course was in decent shape. Much better than the few times I’ve played it before in the last year. Improving
LSU Golf Course
For something on LSUs campus, I would expect more. I lost so many balls just because the grass was cut weird and I couldn’t find my ball, and it’s a bright purple ball. Lots of water features and trees. Overall an easier course. But I don’t think I’ll play here again.
COURSE Sucks
Terrible course from Tee to green. Obvious lack of proper maintenance, poor signage, and unfriendly staff. On a hot 90°+ day, they offer no ice. The range is just a cow pasture. Only play this course if you're a gluten for punishment.
Rough conditions.
Greens were horrible, kinda like putting in a parking lot. Pretty rough greens, overgrown fairways......but the free range balls were nice!
Course condition is not good
Need to do a TON lawn maintenance and fix the greens. You can tell they've made an attempt at repairing greens but needs a LOT more attention. Free range balls were nice
Unbelievable and Embarrasing
I've watched this course -- the course where I rediscovered the game of golf, where I made memories with college and grad school friends, where my friend made a hole in one on Hole 8 many years ago -- worsen, sometimes slowly and sometimes quickly, over the past 5 years. It is now in the worst condition that I have ever seen any course, and it is by far the worst golf course in the city, if not the State of Louisiana. To have the state's flagship university in charge of a garbage dump of a golf course is not only frustrating, but embarrassing and saddening to me as an LSU alum and a Baton Rouge native.
The greens are sand and crabgrass. The fairways are inches deep and covered in pothole-sized clumps of weeds and patches of dirt. The "rough" -- if you can even call it that -- is multiple inches deep at any given time and is more akin to a thistle-infested marsh.
I don' t know what happened to this course to cause it to degrade the way it has. Perhaps it's bad management for years. Perhaps it's a lack of university funding. Or maybe there are university plans to pave the acreage into yet another parking lot or school facility. But it is dying a slow death, and worse yet, the green fees are on par with municipal courses in the area that are far better than the "course" at LSU.
Something has to be done about this travesty of a golf course that is such a disappointment to my hometown and my alma mater.
Should be free
Can’t believe they charge to play here. Greens we’re nothing but sand. Grass was high everywhere. Tee boxes in terrible shape and not marked. Garage sale signs marking holes. I remember it being nice back in the day but it is not anymore. Only thing it’s got going for it is seeing beautiful Tiger Stadium while playing. It should be free to play.
Garbage
Don’t even know why they charge a green fee, they’re more dirt and crabgrass then anything. Impossible to putt and half the time you can’t even find your ball in the fairway.
Goat Ranch
Fairways and greens are atrocious. It’s sad to know that I am an LSU alumn and our golf course is literally the worst in the City possibly State. It was my home course and used to be great about a year ago, but has gone down hill. The young staff are college students who don’t care about maintaining the course. Serious improvements need to be made and it is a fun course layout, but conditions are so terrible. I would much rather pay to play at City Park or Webb even tho they aren’t really too hot themselves.

Greens were in terrible shape. Course was in bad shape.
All the greens were destroyed by previous freeze.
Overall course conditions was very poor. I live out of town, I was the only one on the course.
