Why does this exist?
This is the absolute worse course in Louisiana. Why anyone goes there is beyond my understanding. I don't care how inexpensive & convienent it is. There should be an mandatory outing for LSU administrators and members of the golf teams.
This course does not have much appeal
Pace of play was good. That’s about it. We were told to leave due to closing as we were approaching the final 18th hole. We get they were closing, but asking a group to leave with one hole left isn’t very good and was a great way to make sure we don’t come back. If we were just teeing off even on the 17th hole we would’ve just left, but not with one hole left. Along with the terrible course conditions. Fairways weren’t bad, but tee boxes, bunkers, and greens were in such terrible shape that anyone who wants to play competitively or try and keep a good score will not want to use that course to do so.
Hopeful Signs of Improvement
The course was in need of some TLC. Greens need a lot of help. Will play there again.
This course is pretty challenging
The biggest part of the challenge in playing this course are the greens. They just are not in real good shape, probably more like poor to average.
Fairways need grooming lost several balls in center of them.greens in need of major overhaul. Staff very friendly and helpful
Avoid
Not worth it, trust me. Don't think, "LSU Golf Course, must be top-notch like everything else LSU does". Well there is a reason the LSU Golf Team doesn't call this place home. Terrible course conditions, rude staff (except for one grounds keeper that was extremely helpful) but the rest seem bothered that we were there.
There are better places in Baton Rouge to play, literally any other course.
Nothing special
Nothing special and not much expected here. Greens could use some attention, as well as most of the teeing areas. Lots of weeds throughout, bumpy greens, bunkers are more kin to waste areas with broken rakes for you to use. Overall, not impressed but was a place to hit a few with some friends. Do not expect premium conditions here.
Improved
Played yesterday and was impressed about how much improved the greens were compared to last year when they were just awful. Worse you could ever have.
Was surprised on the improvement. Good course Layout as always. . Needs more TLC though. Headed in better direction now.
Robbing us
DONT EVER PLAY HERE!!!!can’t wait till I move away in a couple of months to a place where they value you as a golfer with beautiful golf courses for good prices everywhere in Baton Rouge feels like ur being taken advantage of….they don’t even cut the grass but wanna charge $35….done with BR golf this place used to be a Mecca of golf people used to come from everywhere to play here now only 1 or 2 places and their all packed 20,30 handicappers who act like their in the US open
Getting better, but a ways to go.
All of the reports over the past few months were no hyperbole. The course was basically unplayable.
I'm happy to report that the recent dry spell has allowed a commercial crew to come out and cut down the whole course. The fairways and rough are back to normal. Many bunkers have fresh sand. They were able to buy new mowers for future maintenance. The greens are still a big problem, though. at least a third of the greens are still bumpy and sanded over.
I hope the crew maintains the course how it was last week. If so, the course is back to being, at the very least, playable.
Course in dire shape
It’s been really here, so that may why the fairways are sooo long that you can stripe it down the middle and still lose your ball, tee boxes where extra tall also, I had tee them very high just keep it above the grass.
The greens where the worst I have ever played on packed on some and short cow pastures on the others, complete with all types of weeds.
I’m a 90 something handicap but come-on. Embarrassed for my State School
I need of a new groundskeeper
The terrible maintenance of the course made it almost unplayable.
Course conditions
Having played many rounds at LSU in past years I decided to take my teenage son while in town. It was difficult to locate balls in the fairways! Greens were over come by bumps of grass making it impossible to have a chance to sink a putt!
I’m it’s current condition it was definitely not worth the $64.00. The course Marshall was nice.
Friendliest Staff, Unplayable Conditions
Really sad to see this course in the current conditions it’s been in for the last few months. I lost multiple balls in the fairway filled with crab grass, tee boxes were as long as a typical courses rough, and the greens were filled with sand. The staff is super friendly but it’s clear they aren’t given the proper resources to maintain what could be a great course
Aweful condition
This course was in terrible condition teeboxes were over grown, tee would barely be in the ground and the grass covered the ball, fairways were the height of the rough, grass on the green was either non existent or two inches high. However, I genuinely think if they took care of the course it would be so much more fun
They should pay you to play
I grew up in college playing this course very often and lsu should be embarrassed the course is in this shape.
The greens had sand and goose feces all over the place.
I hit 4 balls in the middle of the fairway and could not find them because it looks like they haven’t cut the grass in a month
You could not distinguish the tee boxes on certain hole
They should pay you to play there!!! And my round was only $15
16-18 is basically unplayable
