White/Blue at Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort
About
There are three nines at Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort: the Red, the White, and the Blue. For practice, there is also a nine-hole par-3 course. 24 of the 27 championship holes share a unique location on an island in the middle of the Delaware River. Long ago, the odd little island was formed when one of the last glaciers melted. The holes are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The White/Blue Course features well manicured fairways and gently undulating greens. There are strategically placed bunkers along the greensides as well as thick patches of rough. On almost every hole, golfers can enjoy stunning views of the nearby Poconos Mountains. The beautiful setting and interesting design of all the golf courses have made Shawnee one of the Pennsylvania's finest destinations.

Practicing putting. Photo submitted by hpawlak on 05/14/2013
Decent track poor pace
The pace is intolerable and rangers need to patrol the course. We played on Monday and it was like playing in quicksand. Won’t go back.
Higher Expectations
The bunkers were just awful no sand just dirt and in poor condition. Tee boxes uneven and too thick of grass. They could roll the greens once in awhile. They have a great scenic course with some interesting par 3’s. They could invest in improvements which will pay back.
Great old time design! Green contours really make putting fun! Could have been a little faster, but it made a very crowded course manageable for everyone. Staff I met were fantastic!
Didn't get to experience the resort, but the brewery is great!
So so
There are 3 nine holes, red blue and white, we played blue to red.. the directions to each tees are not very clear. Course is in good condition.. nothing special, greens are slow and uneven.cart paths are only around tees and greens and none in between and mostly beat up. You have ppl cutting in front after each nine. Mostly flat with some nice views of the Delaware River.
great value and well kept course
We've been coming to Shawnee to play for the last few years whenever the Group Golfer vouchers come out for there. It's a 90 min ride from Philly and well worth the trip to play. The golf is run professionally and well and there is a nice pro shop and practice putting green. There is not a range to hit balls so be ready.
We played the White/Blue combo in that order. The course was in fine shape and the greens putted smooth. The greens were a little soft probably due to rain earlier in the week and I wish people would fix ball marks better. I did my part in repairing many of them.
The rough is pretty thick at Shawnee so keep that tee shot straight or be punished. The greens are on the smaller side and have plenty of slope. The blue #7 hole is one of America's greatest par 3s in my opinion. Its a 170 yd shot over a 40 yd expanse of the Delaware River to a raised green that has a false front. You'll need to navigate the breeze and pick the right club. Anything short of the green is a goner.
You'll also notice that there are far more Par 5's here than normal. When playing the White 9, you'll have to wait till hole 6 till you find a Par 4.
A great snack shop is out on the course where many holes intersect. I highly recommend one the beers that they brew at Shawnee which you can get at the stand. The Amber Ale was a winner.
We are coming back later in the year for another set of Vouchers for some fall golf.
Blue/Red in Great Shape
Course in excellent condition...greens were running true.
Slow foursome 2 groups ahead.
Played blue to red. Excellent conditions. Very friendly staff. Most holes on an island in Delaware River. Greens were consistent and pin placement fair. Wide fairways lined by mature trees. Craft brewery on premises for post round beers. Definitely play again.
Golf Serenity
A beautiful course nestled on an island in the Delaware river. The only sounds you hear are the birds and the occasional hot air balloon. A fun course managed by outstanding staff that go out of their way to make sure you have a great time.
Classic course
Classic Tillinghast. Small, sloping greens. Doglegs both ways. Best greens I’ve putted this year so far.
Course conditions
With the recent weather (flooding, falling trees) the course was in excellent condition. Only gripe were the cart paths (big potholes), they’ll need work in the spring. That said was a great value and I look forward to playing here again
