Warminster's Five Ponds Golf Club, true to its name, weaves through a series of five ponds that are deftly incorporated into the design. Naturally, water is a prominent feature on the course but there is also a rolling topography that provides interesting elevation changes. The layout starts with a more open front nine and becomes tighter and more wooded on the back nine. Many of the holes have elevated tees that offer scenic views of the surrounding countryside. It provides a challenging but fair round that features wide fairways and large, receptive greens that make it approachable for beginners. In addition to the golf course, Five Ponds boasts an all grass driving range and a 7,000 square foot putting green. Its condition, amenities, and of course the scenic layout have made the club one of the most popular public courses in the area.

For the love of all that is holy LIMB UP

Decent, tight layout that makes good use of the land available. Yes, there are five ponds but there's not a billion forced carries so those who struggle with water shouldn't have tooooo many issues.

Greens rolled true, but felt a little firm with spongy top which makes me think it's due for an aeration.

That said, the layout is TOO tight with many trees coming into the line of play in a way that they shouldn't be. Playing from the back tees, there were multiple occasions you had to change the ballflight because a limb was over the teebox, over the fairway or both. A few hung out to block out fairway bunkers which sort of defeats the purpose of said bunker. Rough was very sparse in some places, probably because theres no light and/or air there. Trim some of the limbs to keep the layout tight but open the course to a bit more strategy.

Also... I have no idea why there's a fireplace in the edge of the woods. If you want it to be a feature, have it be a feature. But wouldn't recommend having it just.... there.

Bar/grill is nice and staff was solid. Appreciate that they allow walking, though was way too hot the day I was there. practice facilities are solid. Has potential to be the upper end of good (and is probably 3.5 stars as is) but a little trim would go a long way both in terms of playability and turf health.

Jam to loud music @Five Ponds, Warminster

The perfect day to play, and looked forward to one of my favorite courses...five ponds. Challenging play, course in excellent condition, lots of shade and I don’t mind those geese! But I did mind as well as my partners the adults group behind us blaring music from the cart. We could hear it in the distance, and as they came closer found it distracting and I’m unusual on a course. Played lots of golf around the country but never hear folks blaring music from their cart. When the group came up behind us and we were teeing off we ask them to turn down the music and they did but is soon as we hit the bar before we even got back into the golf cart they blared the music again. It was disrespectful and when I asked Management at the end of the day about music on the course they told me that there is not a no music policy. That’s too bad because Five Ponds is one of my favorite forces to play but I don’t plan on going back there to hear music when I’m trying to enjoy the time in the sport and have nature surrounding me

Worst time ever

Somehow this course we never got around to playing and tried it this week. Decent golf range and putting area. We play public golf courses all the time and sometimes are better than others when you get paired with another two some. This was the worst. Father and son playing with only one set of clubs. They had no clue how to play the game. Their shots were all over the place and they made no effort to speed up play. We left them after the first hole. Then the ranger said we had to join again. We refused and left the course. Never going back again. From the little we played the course was in good condition and an ok enough course, but not worth trying again if that is the kind of players they attract.

great winter golf

The course was in great shape for winter golf and the greens rolled closer to normal than other courses in the area in winter. Understand cart path only.

Love to Play using Twilight savings

I have to say the value is not there during normal rates, but really believe the course is a good value at twilight. I need a full warm up before playing, and the combination of the driving range and the short game practice area that other courses don;t have are a definite plus here. Pace of play during most twilight rounds are acceptable, but with it bring Veterans days it was a little backed up. Course was in great shape, with the greens being the only point of contention, since they haven;t fully recovered from aeration. I enjoy playing here, especially walking.

Five Ponds

A nice layout with condition of greens and fairways being good. Numerous selections of tees for all skill levels. A more than adequate practice area. One negative is that there are nine hole leagues late afternoon/early evening that limit early/mid afternoon tee times.

Still a great course and challenge

Course was in excellent condition. Numerous tee boxes which were all in great shape. The greeens were also in excellent shape. All the par threes are good tests. Lots of visually appealing holes but alos some really challenging ones with some narrow fairways. Definitley a place I would recommend but not for beginners.

rain out

We got rained out on the 13th hole. That was after starting out on 10 hoping rain cell would pass. It did but dumped so much the greens became unplayable and to credit of the course management, they closed the course and offered pro rated rain checks for anyone who didn't want to wait around for water to run off the greens. Only negative is carts do not have rain hoods. Course was in very good condition and greens were smooth and putted well. They were not nearly as fast as the practice putting green however which threw us off for a couple holes.

Great course if you love slow play

Simply this course is not worth the time or money. Our round took 5.5 hours. Also be prepared to duck and cover as holes are so close together errant drives criss cross fairways all day. I won't return here.

Also they have major issues with drainage. Be prepared to lose a ball or two in the fairway.

Long day, poor conditions and unwelcoming staff

I played an interclub match at Five Ponds this past weekend. My first impression was when I arrived at the course an hour before my tee time. I was greeted by a woman at the pro shop and gave my name and she said rudely "You are late! Everyone is waiting for you!" Great first impression.

Second we were told by the Pro Shop staff that the course was in good shape. Good is a relative term in this case. The greens were very slow and still had unfilled aeration holes making them slow and bumpy. The bunkers are in need of a major refurbishment. They lack sand and are very inconsistent. The real disappointment had to be the fairways. Divots and bare spots were everywhere. Hitting the middle of the fairway should not lead to a difficult lie. Also the fairways are covered in goose droppings. Some holes are so bad that you could get a mud ball, but it is not mud!

The layout for this course is very tight. You will be peppered with balls from other holes and hear the yells of Fore! throughout your round.

The pace of play is dreadfully slow.

Here is a free tip, if you play a yellow golf ball switch to a white one for holes 10 and 18. These holes border the driving range and are littered with yellow range balls.

wet underfoot

Course was pretty soft and wet due to a very rainy summer. It has taken a hit like other courses in the area but the greens have held up the best of any I have seen. Pro shop attendant was cordial but the starter, when he finally showed up after not being seen near first tee for at least 15 minutes, was not overly friendly and did not issue the days rules for course conditions. We were walking and aware but twosome on tee sheet playing with us were unaware of cart path only conditions. At the turn there was no one in the snack bar so we took a couple drinks and left money for what we thought the cost would be. I've played here many times since it opened and lately staff seems less friendly than other area courses including another area course under the same management company. The course layout sells itself.

Fast greens

Course in great shape. Greens were very fast and smooth...almost tour caliber. Once you got speed down all you had to do was put the putt on a good line. Layout of holes has variety of design and length. Regular players I went out with more friendly than staff. Starter seemed useless as group of regular players lined themselves upon first tee.

Best Condition

I don't go to this local course enough. On this latest visit I found the course in very good condition with smooth and very fast greens and lush fairways. The greens while fast were fair. Pace was OK, not great not terrible.

great in off season

Late season golf near Philly can yield some iffy conditions but Five Ponds was in good shape as it has been most all year. The greens were mostly smooth but with a few bumps to be expected that were not the fault of the course conditions. Fairways were good as well. Tees will need reworked before next season so I was surprised the tee markers had not be pulled for the winter and either temp tees place of you could play from any tee you wanted. Overall very pleased.

Solid course

A little unorganized but a good value if you get a golf now price.... Flew through the back nine after a slow front. 4 hour round. Water can come into play most of the holes. A fun track.

quality public golf

This is a quality public golf course that gets a lot of play but is generally always in good condition. The greens are always good. The challenge of the course will test the best players and with five sets of tees golfers can pick the right yardage to get the most enjoyment. However most forward tees are too long for average woman player based on USGA standards. That said, there are cart path markers for Family Tees marked for players who hit the tee ball 150 yards and 120 yards. Rates are in line for the area.

Pace of Play and No Help

Course is very walkable. Greens were a bit rough. While on course, called Pro Shop twice (hole 7 and hole 12) requesting ranger assistance with mega-slow, inexperienced foursome. Individuals from this group held up other groups in adjacent fairways. One one hole, slow group had caused four groups to be backed up on it. If ranger responded to call #1, it did little good. On second call, Pro Shop didn't answer (call placed 25 minutes before posted Pro Shop closing). Group finally let our group through on hole #16. Courses that don't actively manage pace of play get put on my "Do Not Play" list which why I would not recommend this course to a friend. If corrected, I would recommend this course especially if greens improved.

I WILL NEVER PLAY HERE AGAIN

My friend and I recently played this course over Memorial Day weekend. With so many nice public courses in the area we like to rotate between courses. We hadn’t played here in a couple of years but my friend drove by and said it looked like it was in great shape so we booked a tee time for Sunday morning. The course was in fairly good shape considering the long cold winter we endured. We were having a very enjoyable round until we came to the 17th hole which was a downhill par 3 over water. We all hit our tee shots and hopped in the carts and drove to the green. We parked the carts and got out and walked to the pin which was about 40 yards away on the other side of the green. As we were putting the course ranger came up and took the key from our cart. He very rudely stated that we were parked too far up the cart path. The cart was completely on the cart path and my friend I were confused as to why he had such a belligerent attitude. Instead of politely asking us to move the cart back a little he kept the key and hopped in his cart. Any other course I have ever played if you were doing something wrong the ranger would ALWAYS politely give you a warning first. Before he sped away with our cart key he had the audacity to tell us to “HAVE A NICE WALK BACK”. We abruptly picked up our balls, grabbed our bags off the cart and started walking back to the club house. We walked about 40 yards before we were approached by the starter who had left his post and drove his cart out to us. He was very nice gentleman and profusely apologized on behalf of the course and for the unacceptable behavior of the ranger. He offered us the cart key back which we promptly refused on principle. He went on to say that the ranger had treated other players the same way for parking in the same spot on numerous occasions. He said in each case the players simply left the course without saying a word and never returned for another round. He strongly encouraged us to speak with the club manager about the unacceptable behavior of the ranger. He was very nice and we thanked him and continued our walk to the club house. When we arrived back at the club house we asked for the manager and were told that he was on his way back in from the course. We explained the whole story to the club manager who in turn took our information and said that he would talk to the ranger and then call us. We never received that phone call or an apology and will never return to this course again. My buddies and I have played 100’s of courses in numerous states and have never been treated so poorly!!!! There are too many nice courses in the area too waste your hard earned dollars here. I have never written a negative review of a course in my life but I am still fuming over the lack of courtesy and belligerent attitude of the five ponds Five Ponds staff!!!!!

Always fun to play

I always enjoy playing the course. Some greens are a little beat up and still need to fill in from the weird spring we had. Pace of play could be better, but a lot of that depends on who your playing with and if your losing balls into hazards or water on some holes. Generally the course is in good shape.

Disappointed...

Course condition is not up to par at all. Used to come to this place for better greens, fairways and tee boxes. Very disappointed. Double booked with the outing group, makes us on the edge as well although course manager accommodated and the whole outing group were playing at decent pace.
