The best I’ve seen ever seen it
The course superintendent John Schurman has done a great job getting his course back on track. They’ve had to resod some greens on the front that are still coming in but overall the greens are great especially the back nine
Some of the tea boxes need to be reworked and resodded. if they would use the fairway sprinklers more, the fairways would sure be better than they are but overall course looks great.!
Not Bad
Front 9 and back 9 are a lot different. Front 9 was not as nice as the back. If the entire course was as good as the back 9 then it would be worth the money. Pace of play was good, staff was friendly. I would go back, but not if I was paying $50 per round. Course shape was more like $25-$35. Luckily I used a hot deal on this app.
Not as bad as people say
They’ve made some improvements
Trying to bring greens back to life
Worth a $45 green fee
Greatbstaff
best greens in the area right now
course has improved tremendously since last year they have invested a great deal of money and time in the greens and they are very fast. best value in golf in the area.
Getting better
I have played here twice in the last few weeks. I really like tee #1 is back up by the club house. Course is getting better and better. Now I just need my golf game to follow.
Tough Shape
I've been to this course dozens of times and used to live a mile down the road. I played here with my friend on a weekend and decided I would not come back to this course without it being on a hot deal. My friend lives near the course and has his own golf cart but gets charged full price instead of greens fee. I can understand that but this course is not in a shape where they can be charging more. It is my understanding that the greenskeeper was in a disagreement with someone and they came and destroyed the greens.
There are portions where large chunks half an inch deep are missing out of the green. It's really a disservice to those who are coming out to play. There are not really other options in this city so I will play this on hot deals only.
I hope the greens can be repaired soon.
Improving
I have played this course many times over the years, including several times in the last year. Every time I am aware of improvements to the course. The most notable is the improvements to the landing area on hole number 11. No longer is it a marsh pit. In addition, the greens, which had been vandalized, are getting much better. I will be playing here again soon.
Northwood Hills
Course has a fun layout. Staff was super friendly and helpful.
Some areas still recovering from freeze conditions this past winter but course in good condition.
Northwood hills
My first time playing this course and enjoyed it immensely. The staff was great and enjoyed the Sunday buffet before my round and cocktails in the bar afterwards. Grass is still coming in on the greens but where still in better condition than courses that I’ve played on this year. I’m from North East Texas and my son is in Ruston so this is a perfect spot for us to meet up and get a round in. Hopefully I’ll do better next time since I’ve played it now and will be more familiar with the layout.
Northwood GC
Scenic layout with penal ob areas. You can use every club in your bag and driver can be used tons! Shreveport doesn’t have many public courses to choose from and this would rank medium to high among those available. On Golf Now hot deals $27.99 green fee with cart is as good a deal you’re gonna find around here….
Better than expected
The course was well-maintained. Tea boxes were in great shape, leaves were mostly blown out of the fairway, 75% of the greens were in very good condition. That’s about as much as you can expect from a public, non-municipal course in this area. Pace of play was excellent, And the staff was very friendly
Would not recommend
I drove three hours to play on this course. I played on the first and second hole and when I got to the third hole one of the workers came running and yelled that the course was under construction. There were no signs put up and we were not informed by the front desk before we started. In total I played three holes when I paid to play 18 holes and refused to give us a refund. I would not recommend and will never go back.
Course is half closed
This used to be one of my favorite spots in the area. Went back a few weeks ago and as I was paying, they mentioned that they were having trouble with their greens and a number of their holes were closed, and that we would have to play a random assortment of 9 holes twice. This was inconvenient, but we figured we would give it a run. The course was in very rough shape. Something happened to the greens and it seems like they completely gave up trying to maintain anything. I wouldn’t touch this place until you verify they are fully open and have made proper repairs to the areas that have been neglected.
Avoid this course
Course is currently under major construction and is not playable.
Course Should be closed
The course was under major repair, and made 8 holes unplayable because they didn’t have a green. No work was put into fairways or tee boxes. I recommend this course be closed until it’s under new management.
horrible greens
they shud close course until greens are brought back to life if thats possible
to charge what they are is criminal
