Greens were phenomenal! Very well manicured. I always enjoy playing a round at this course.
Not Augusta National But...
I have played this course several times and have always enjoyed the experience. This course is perfect for couples, seniors, women or anyone looking for a leisurely round on a well maintained course.
There is enough sand and water scattered around to make a challenging round but not so much that you would consider the course punishing.
Greens appropriately sized and are kept in excellent shape with some movement in them.
Overall an enjoyable course
Worst Staff EVER
Course was in good condition. Not a very exciting layout. The first impression was a rude and unwelcoming staff. As soon as we excited the car the started asked tee time (705) we were there at 0645 and the first interaction was well the rest of you group better be on time. While paying my wife was asked by the started how did we get this tee time. It should have only been posted for five minutes. The staff is rude, so much for relaxing retirement communities, will not play there again and will tell all “outsiders” should stay away.
Very playable layout, good for couples
Overall, a decent course in good condition. The greens are starting to come apart though. The grass is getting a little sparse, making for bumpy putts that don't always hold the line. The starter did tell me that they intend to rehab the greens in June. The layout isn't too challenging, so it is good for couples and families. If you want a bigger challenge, the "Hidden Cypress" course at Sun Lakes is a lot tougher and in good shape.
We had a great time at Okatie Creek.
Okatie has over-seeded their fairways and greens. The fairways are in great shape. The greens were a little thin but rolled smooth and moderately fast. The course sticks to the tee time schedule and is rangered. Pace of play was good even though they were busy due to 60 degree weather in January. Overall I thought the course was great. We played it from the tournament tees (gold) just over 6,400 yards. It was fair but made you hit everything in your bag. I will play Okatie Creek again.
