About
Sprawling across 300 acres of lush, Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has gained a reputation as being one of the area's best public courses. The course was a collaboration between Gary Player and Bobby Weed, who each designed a nine. Weed designed the front nine with the intention of creating a complement to the Player-designed back nine rather than making them too similar. He included larger greens with more dramatic undulations. The signature hole is the tricky sixth, which features the largest lake on the golf course bordering its entire right side and deep pot bunkers along the greensides. The back nine has many challenging holes as well, including the course's number one handicap hole, the par-5 seventh. It is the ninth that might be Hilton Head National's toughest though, with a deep marsh along the right side of a narrow fairway.

My favorite
Course is in excellent shape. You use every club in your bag. No hole is the same. Greens and surrounds are excellent. Bermuda in the summer, love it.
Classic course
This classic Gary Player course is challenging and fun for players of all levels. Beautiful layout and surroundings. Super friendly staff. Greens in great shape. Reasonably priced. Nice bar and lunch area. Highly recommend.

This course is in pristine shape. The greens run very true. The course is forgiving and the club house is great!

Best of Bluffton
Public course that is more like a private club. Course is in great shape, greens roll true. Some tee boxes need work. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Excellent Course - will play again!
Everything about the course was great! The layout was tough but not too demanding. The GPS on the carts was awesome. The staff were great and very accommodating. We played the round in about 3 and a half hours which was perfect.

Always a Good Choice
I play Hilton Head National a couple times a year when we visit the area. It is always a solid play. It’s a fun course that won’t beat up the average golfer. It’s not very long. But the short holes provide a challenge. The course was in good shape except they had just sanded the greens the morning I played. This slowed the ball down some. But didn’t affect the putts too much otherwise. If they hadn’t had to do that I would have given it 5 stars because the rest of the course and the service was awesome. It’s also several dollars cheaper than any of the options on the island. If you are vacationing in the area this is a cant miss.

We visit HHI often and play many of the course. With exception of staff who handled our clubs before and after the round, staff at Hilton Head Nat’l was not welcoming and condescending.

Nice driving range
I will NEVER play this course again. Golf is supposed to be fun but this course is no fun to play. The course was set up for tournament play. Why a resort course would do that on a Monday is beyond me. The driving range was nice though.

Fun track
Course was in good condition. I got an aerofication notice when I booked but there was no issue — greens punched a month ago at this point and rolling smooth. I bet in another 1-2 weeks they’ll be perfect.

Very Nice!
My first time playing this course and was very happy with the overall experience. Greens were recently aerated and were a little sandy still but they were smooth, fast and in good shape. Course has large fairways and several long par 4's. I played the blue tees and had several approach shots to the green of 150 to 180 yds. Course has some contours too it but I wouldn't call it hilly or mogully. Overall it is neat, clean and well cared for. A little pricey for a hot deal but worth it. Will play it again.

Great looking course!
Bag drop informed us that parts of the course was under construction, however there were no issues playing whatsoever. The course looked excellent and well manicured. Very informing and friendly staff. We will definitely be back in the future!

Had a great time. Course is in good shape and pace of play was excellent. We finished in 3.5 hours.We played in the afternoon so for the money it was well worth it.
