A deserted golf course
The greens were in a terrible condition as if they were deserted. Some people were playing Frisbee like golfers (apparently permitted). The course needs maintenance.
yikes!!
The gentleman behind the counter was extremely personable. That's about the only positive thing I can say. If you're anywhere near a serious golfer.....stay away. Unfortunately this place is a very sad goat pasture w 18 flags stuck in it. I think the wife and I paid $15 each to ride 18...that's about $16 too much. If you and the kids want to come out and slap a ball around and don't really care about trying to play golf, then this is your place. As for the wife and I we can't bring ourselves to visit again.
Worth the money
For the price ($14 per person for 18 holes), I would definitely play the course again. My wife and I got around in 2 hours (maybe a little less), enjoyed a good walk and had a good time. I certainly will not play this course every week - the greens are painted and there is a lot of cut debris (branches mostly) around the course, but is is a nice change and I will probably play this course in a few months or so. Don't play during heavy monsoon weather - there is a wash right down the middle of the course
Playing
Playing the course is good for practicing with your irons mainly 7-wedge. Greens were not in good shape and some were even sprayed green.
Turkey Day
We enjoyed our golf outing. It was like a little Mom and Pop place. There was a family tournament group of 15 in Thanksgiving front of us and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the kids be kids. This was perfect place for a family to do this . Maybe next year we will do the same
Quaint
I needed a quick getaway while my roof was being serviced, so I made a tee time at Quail Canyon. It's a neat, par 3 course routed through a small canyon near Tucson Mall. In order to enjoy this course, you need only a handful of clubs and an hour or so.
Because I hadn't been there before, I took a cart and regretted it the entire time. The property is so small, I could read the time on the clock in the clubhouse from anywhere on the course. I found myself grossly overequipped, carrying my regular bag (minus only my driver). With the longest hole scarcely 165 yds, my next round here will be with only 6-iron thru putter.
The size and condition of the greens are what make this course challenging. The greens are circular and only about 10-15 yds in diameter...so if you pull the wrong club, you can hit a decent shot and still miss. Making matters worse (or more interesting, depending on your perspective), the greens are a hair longer than the fairways at most other courses. The grass is also a bit yellow right now, which produces odd putting characteristics. The longish, dry grass doesn't respond to spin on short pitches, but still rolls quite quickly (as the ball travels over the top of the bristly grass without being noticeably influenced by the slope). If you're in the area already and have some time to kill, this is golf, and golf is still a great way to spend any amount of time. In my opinion, however, this is more of a golf location than a golf destination.
nice
great course - tuesday morning was perfect., no one in front or behind us this is a great place for your short game, the course sits in a small valley so there is hardly any wind or cold. this is an ideal course at any time
Great for your short game
This is a great little course to improve your short game. A full 18 hole of par 3.
Nice quick round for practice
The course isn't in great shape but we found the tees OK, the greens were nice but very slow, and the areas near the greens were OK. It's a great little course to practice irons and chipping. We enjoyed it and will play there again.
Good practice
Nice little course I played it about 6 months ago and it was terrible, but now since the monsoon season, the course is green and the greens are slow but they are playable.. The pace of play was fast too..
practice your small irons and wedges
Nice person running course, course was almost empty of players when my son and I played. Greens are in need of attention as they are burnt up by the heat, they also need more water. longest hole was like 160 yards and shortest was 100ish. nice little practice round.
