Oak Valley back 9 Photo submitted by VICRAZ7 on 12/09/2013
Best bang for your buck
A $65 green fee at Oak Valley is unmatched in the Inland Empire for the quality and rigorous course you’ll experience
Oak Valley GC
I love the course but a bit disappointed at the bunker and fairway conditions. Overdue for some much needed maintenance.
It's my "home course." I love it, but only wish management would bring it back to It's actual potential!
Used to be one of my favorites
The course is definitely not how it used to be kept up. Everything looks run down and not as nice looking as I remember. The course set up is the same and challenging and still fun to play. The prices have always been pretty high for the course. I’ll stick to playing it once or twice a year. Too many other courses that are in better shape for the $$$
Nice Course
Course is in goo shape. The course is in good shape, greens are in great condition. Really enjoyed the course and the set up. There was no one at the course. Just an incredible day at the golf course. There are some areas that are in bad shape, but for the value it is a great course and you won't be disappointed.
coming along nicely
Oak Valley has always been in our playing rotation. We drive past many other courses to play here. Don’t understand the bad reviews about a restaurant not being open or a cart girl not being available, that’s never really a factor for our group, we care more about the course and pace.
Highlight of our round was the Marshal Greg being present on the course and asking us as paying customers if there’s anything they can do to improve. That’s everything this day and age! Service goes a long long way! Kudos to Greg.
Can the rough be cut back a little? Sure. Have the fairways been more lush in the past? Sure. What gives this course it’s character is the isolating feel of each hole. No teebox is near another green (maybe 2&3 but that’s it). And the fact you need to hit fairways to avoid the thick rough. Course is fun, never seems overcrowded (I’d maybe space out tee times 10 min apart rather than 8) and we were impressed with Greg the marshal. Will be back soon
Tall grasses
Some fairways have grasses where it takes longer to find your ball if you are not able to land on the first cut, maybe it would help if they are cut shorter.
Gen. course conditions
3-weeks post punching: greens coming back nicely; marks almost gone. Fairways improving as Bermuda is growing in; less and less patchy. Staff working hard on improving/expanding tee areas. In 2-3weeks this course will be one of the best in the I.E.
Horrible pace of play management
I started at 2 with a 4some in front of me. I let them go ahead as I was eating my late lunch and knew I wanted to wait a bit until I was finished. After I passed them on 3, i ran into nobody until 9 and they were almost to the green. As I finished 9 and went to 10 I was waiting on a single and he had his daughter. So after waiting I finished and went to 11 where I saw them fishing for balls out of the lake while I waited on tee box for 10 mins. After going to 12 I ran into them where they joined another group. Before waiting more I asked if I could go through and was met with some hostility from that group. I argued I was a single and didn't care who was in front of them as I would be quicker than them anyway. After arguing for another 10 mins I went through and met 4 GROUPS ON THE NEXT HOLE. and the next hole WAS ANOTHER 2! I skipped those 2 holes and said forget it as My focus was already slipping waiting so long. This course used to have pretty respectful individuals and now the need for a marshal is definitely needed for the entire day it seems. Wont be coming back or recommending until they manage the hacks out there playing their course.
Lack of pacing
I paid 40 for a round of 18. Front nine went smoothly and only ran into a group on 9. I was playing as a single all round and I ran into that same group from 9 on 10. It was a father and his daughter and so i let them finish 10 and Then caught up to them on 11. While waiting on the tee box watching them tee off on the par 3, I saw the guy was fishing out balls and had brought his kid and was letting her hit. I waited about 10 min for them to leave the hole and thought for sure I would get let past on the next. When i got to the next hole I asked to get let through and the guy on the previous hole was with another guy and his friend made a big deal about it and gave me attitude saying there's groups ahead of him. I told him Well I'm single so can I please go through. This went on for about 5 min back and forth. As I finished the hole onto the par 5 there was 2 groups waiting on the tee box, a group in the fairway and another on the green. In total, there was about 6 or 7 groups clustered over 2 holes... Been playing there for about 6 or 7 years and its been getting really bad lately on the pace of play. They should have a marshal out or someone directing players because 6 or 7 groups should not be clustered over a span of 2 holes at 4 in the afternoon... And certainly shouldn't be getting hassled for wanting to pass as a single whos playing the tips and everyone is hitting from whites...
Didn't know the greens were punched
The layout of the course is fantastic. However, no one told us that the greens were punched. I wish Golf Now had noted that before we drove an hour just to play there
Great time
Great course and friendly staff. Only thing missing was a cart girl or open bar to get mixed drinks.
Challenging course
Pace of play was good. The course was well maintained.
Excellent course except front course was close due to aeration wish you could post more hot deals for this course
