Needs a lot of Maintenance !
The greens a degraded, the fairways are degraded, some tees are like concrete, the path is hard to navigate, the beer is very expensive. I’ve played other municipal courses for about the same price that are 10x better, try Oceanside Municipal.
More brown than green fairways
Virtually every fairway (especially #3) required a move of the ball to some grass (when you could find it).
Great Staff, Horrible Conditions
Staff was incredibly nice. Greens are patchy and not consistent. Fairways are mainly dirt patches.
Needs Improvement
This could be a good course but at it current state, it is not well maintained course. Fairways are really bad, tee boxes are hard and the pace of play was unbearable. I left after 12 holes.
They should pay you to play here
One of the worst golf courses I’ve ever stepped foot on. Conditions were abysmal and pace of play couldn’t have been slower. Don’t waste your money.
A slow round was tough with the thin fairways. Long, challenging but needs fairway work and better pacing for the tee times
Poor condition
Pace of play was incredibly slow, close to 30 minutes a hole. Golf cart had a visibly bent frame and pulled hard when the steering wheel was not held with tension. Entire fairways did not have grass. The greens were in bad shape, and rock hard. I left after 9 holes which I absolutely never do, but it was not worth another 4 hours to finish the back 9, especially when a shotgun start tournament took over the course while I was on hole 8, so it would have realistically been more than 4 hours. Worst course I have played in San Diego for pace and quality, and I have played nearly all of them.
Starting to decline
The grass on the greens seem to overrun with poor grass. The food service seems non existent.
Avoid at all costs
I wanted to give it a chance after reading the posted reviews but I was still extremely disappointed, even for a cheap muni course on a weekend.
First off, the office couldn’t seem to nail down when my tee time was, gave me another than what was booked and the proceeded to call me 15 mins early to tee off. When I apologized for not being there and trying to state my case of the mix up, the starter proceeded to tell “don’t complain” in a condescending tone.
There’s dirt in the fairways, hard to find a patch of grass. One hole had two giant puddles of water right in the middle of the fairway. The group behind us was playing as a 6 sum and the groups in front of us were stacked. There were 5 groups stacked on 2 holes. After 2:45 of a front 9, I packed it in. You couldn’t pay me to play here again.
Too much dirt
Love the layout and location, but the fairways are full of dead spots and much of the “rough” is dirt.
The starter gave us a hard time about pace after a bad tee shot on 1, and was quite rude, but we proceeded to wait on the tee before every subsequent hole. To improve pace, they need to go out on the course and identify slow players instead of hassling mediocre golfers who go straight to their ball.
