Two courses
Teed off on 10. 11, 12 must have been part of original course. Course and surrounding pretty shabby.
Course cut up by busy roadways. Washroom facilities not great.
Restaurant closed to public at end of game.
Big Rock worth the visit
We played Big Rock recently, great course, great atmosphere. The course was in great shape, will visit and play this one again.
BIG ROCK GOLF AT INDIAN SPRINGS
I have played this course numerous times and have enjoyed every round played. The course was in very good condition from tee to green. The greens were in nice condition and rolled true. Overall, it was a nice day, but somewhat windy. We did wait on a few holes, but managed to play in about 4 1/4 hours. I would recommend this course to anyone. Afterwards, the 19th hole is a fantastic restaurant/bar.
Rock
3rd time playing this track in the last month. Fairways are wide open and nice. Smooth with no bare spots. Ground is hard. Greens are running around 11. Bunkers could use more sand. Fun course.
Had a great time at this first time course. Not sure if I would pay $130 plus but we got for $97 so ok. Greens were great and par 3’s are pretty good. Want to go back and play again. FT
Big Rock Rocks for $80
Caught an 11:52 tee time for $80 on teeoff.com. Course was in good condition and played in 4 hours and 15 minutes. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Weather was perfect and playing partners from Minnesota were fun to play with. I played blue tees which were about right for a 67 year old 4 handicapper. Range wasn't open due to wash outs in the canal where it is located so got off to slow start, but came home in 37. The pub at Big Rock has good food and great views overlooking the golf course. All around enjoyable day.
Well maintained
fairway, rough and greens all are very well maintained. Wife and I enjoyed this course very much.
Very good glass condition in fairway and green
Glass condition is perfect.
We had difficulty to find #10 tee, it will be nice to display the arrow mark before crossing the road.
Great Staff ... Not Sure about the Layout
Very friendly and helpful staff ... but not enough to save the five-star rating ... sorry. The course had a few memorable holes, a wide range to tee positions (5300 to 6800 yds), and was well maintained.
The biggest problem with this course was the way that it was chunked out ... we even had to cross a major street (and back again) to get to / from the 10th thru 12th holes. Also, in some cases, the play seemed quite close to the surrounding houses.
There were a few memorable holes:
- #4 Par 5 ... a long and straight 500 yard hole with a postage stamp green at the end
- #13 Par 5 ... another long and straight 475 yard hole with a couple of bunkers guarding the green
- #14 Par 3 ... a challenging 100-yard drop shot across the water
- #15 Par 4 ... the relatively small green had a small stream along the front and a larger pond along the side / back. Not much room for error!
- #18 Par 5 ... another long and straight 500 yard hole, with a nice view into the clubhouse as we approached the green
If you like golfing, rock memorabilia, and a pub-style clubhouse / bar / restaurant ... this is likely a great option for you.
Just not my cup of tea. A good golf experience, but not great!
