Rode the Blacks (6578/72.4/134) in 3H, 45M. The weather was sunny, clear, fairly calm and close to 110.

Pete Dye design with mounds, waste bunkers, grass bunkers and visually intimidating sight lines on almost every hole. Many holes with forced carries and even though the lay of the land is basically flat, you almost never have a level lie after your tee shot because of all the mounds/moguls.

The Bermuda tees were lush, only the par 3's had a decent amount of divot damage.

The Bermuda fairways were lush and nice to play from.

The Bermuda first cut of rough around the fairways and greens was very lush and nice to play from. The primary rough is longer Bermuda, good coverage and is generally more penal. Numerous areas of native rough was unplayable, calf deep where it is an almost sure lost ball.

The abundant sand traps were nicely raked. However, they played poor. Thin and need more sand.

Almost every green complex is raised, some severely raised. The greens putted fairly smooth for Bermuda. Medium quick, firm with almost no ball marks.

The customer service was top notch from everyone encountered. Drink cart out making the rounds and complementary water is provided with your cart that has nice GPS. Practice facilities here are good, the grass range is included in your fee. Recommended.

I played 18 holes in the morning prior to a skins game I had in the afternoon. The wind was calm in the morning and the course was very scoreable. I made my way around the course with relative ease in just under 3 hours for 18 holes. Enjoyed a nice break before teeing it up in the afternoon for our skins game. The wind picked up and was gusting quite strongly and change my whole game plan from earlier. Make sure you don't short side yourself. Also, don't bite off too much carry on 17!

Course was in great shape, greens were a bit slow but not uncommon at this time of year. Really great layout with great variety. Looking forward to playing here again in the future. Definitely recommend for sure.

A very nice golf course and great experience over all. Starting with a great practice area with driving range, chipping and putting area’s. The Dunes course was well laid out and was in great condition, the pace of play was also very good.

I will definitely come back to this course and would also like to try the Mountain course which I hear is even better.

This is a wonderful golf facility.

Plenty of staff who are knowledgable and friendly - there's an obvious pride in their operation. Excellent practice range, started on time, 3.5 hours to play our 3-some, which would be much slower if the course was full of middle-high handicappers due to forced carries over water and not much room over the greens on certain holes.

1st 3 holes were a bit odd/confusing visually - should have used the flyover on the cart's GPS..

Course was in fine condition, and the greens were as speedy as the undulations could handle without being unfair.

Clubhouse dining room overlooking the course was as good as Desert Willow's for view/service, and their staff recommended NACHOS with shredded chicken + carnitas and a base of sliced jalapenos was by far the best any of us had ever eaten.

Loved the La Quinta Dunes Course right from the start since you are welcomed at the bag drop and directed to the club house.

Again, welcomed by the front desk. Cart was loaded and ready to go with GPS and ice plus water.

Driving range in very good shape.

Loved the Dunes style course and a good challenge but not overly so. Greens in good shape but firm.

Large sand traps with a good amount of water hazards.

Hard to get in trouble unless your ball gets wet.

Lastly, met immediately by the “cart guys who cleaned our clubs and gave good advice on other courses to play on our visit.

Had a great day and would highly recommend the Dunes Course.

I have always liked this course. I have played it at least 25-30 times over the past 25+ years. There was a time when this course was considered one of the best courses in Coachella Valley. It hosted the PGA Tour Qualifying Finals for several years back about 20+ years ago. It has aged a bit (haven't we all), but it still holds up well against most local courses. Management has closed and/or stopped maintaining a few of the back tees that I used to play many years ago. But that doesn't bother me since I don't play those tees anymore. By today's standards this isn't a very long course (less than 6,600 yards from the new back tees). But it can still play very tough - especially when the winds are up! Bunkers are pretty consistent and have plenty of sand. They don't drain very well, so it is pretty typical to have about 1/2 inch of dry sand on top, but wet and hard sand underneath. (This is my biggest "gripe" about the course.) The greens rolled very true - after fixing a few ball marks on almost every putt. (Doesn't anybody fix their ball marks anymore?) This course also has a very nice practice area. A full range, chipping area, and putting greens... I can't quite give this course 5 stars because the course conditions just aren't as nice as some of the top courses in the Coachella Valley. And because there have been no major renovations done to the course or the clubhouse since this place was built back in the early 1990s. Still, a very nice course.

What a test of golf. The course is in great condition and the staff super friendly. The greens were close to the fastest I have ever played. The only down side was that the greens had been recently aerated and had not been sanded smooth, so a handful of putts jumped off line. As with most Pete Dye courses there is a price to pay with any shot that misses the green, sometimes almost unfairly. It was definitely a great experience.
