Great Course and Staff

Staff was very professional! The course layout was a little tough to follow, but nothing ridiculous. Greens an fairways were in good shape. Lots of maintenance being done to maintain course. The roughs were easy to play from. Really fun course, can’t wait until my next round there.

Links golf in the desert

Rode the Blues (6687/72.2/127) with Fred & Dan, very nice father/son in 4H, 15M mid day. The weather was sunny, fairly calm and in the low 100's.

Fun links layout set among rolling hills. DF is not a tight course even with a decent amount of water, high native grass and OB to keep you focused.

COVID-19 guidelines have relaxed, masks required while checking in and around staff. Bath rooms open, divot mix back on the carts. Restaurant closed, no rakes, ball washers, ice chests or water stations on the course.

Tees were very hit and miss with many dry and burned out areas on most tees.

Fairways were firm and mostly decent with many areas brown or browning.

Rough? I played in primary rough here 6 weeks ago that was almost U.S. Open rough. Today, many of those same areas are hard pan? Very hit and miss, but huge areas are bare ground where the grass has died from a lack of water in the rough beside many fairways. Native rough is knee deep strawlike and almost a sure lost ball.

Green side traps have decent sand but have not been raked recently. Fairway traps are much rougher around the edges and play firm.

Bermuda greens putted medium speed and were firm. Hardly any ball marks because of the firmness. Numerous greens had burned or bare areas around the edges and spots within the green that looked to be in trouble.

No GPS on the basic carts and the course is not well marked for yardage. Customer service is very limited, no food or drink available currently. Very friendly pro shop and cart staff. Grass range included in your fee is open again. Recommended if you get a deal only.

Decent and challenging, but not memorable

I've played this course for 30 years. It's a good layout, challenging from blue or black tees. Condition is ok but not great. There are some poor condition areas here and there. The grees are better than they look but very firm -- hard to stop shots into the green. The price was lower than average, and the pace of play was a little pokie.

I'll always come back for an occasional round on an old friend.

Closing Soon?

The layout of this course is very interesting and challenging. Seldom find a flat lie in the fairway. Lots of rolling hills, ups and downs create the challenge for placement off the tee.
The 9th hole is a beauty. Stay RIGHT!
Fairways and tee boxes not in the best condition, probably will close down soon for summer.
More discounts on GolfNow would be great .

Good layout

This was my first time here, but it won’t be the last! Lots of hills and mostly wide fairways. Greens were a little slow, but rolled well. Some water, but not really a problem.

great track

Rolling fairways that create challenging lies add a good deal of creative shots. The greenside bunkers were a little predictable which were obviously placed there quite a while ago. The greens have a lot of different layouts and require a good look at the green layout before attempting to reach them..

Desert links course

Rode the Blues (6687/72.2/127) as a single in slightly over 3H mid morning. The weather was sunny, breezy and in the low 100's.

Enjoy this links layout set among rolling hills. DF is not a tight course even with a decent amount of water, high native grass and OB to keep you focused. COVID-19 guidelines are being trictly enforced, masks required at all times. Other than the bathrooms being open, almost everything you would normally expect to be present on a golf course has been removed. No range balls, no water stations, ball washers, ice chests, rakes etc.

The tees were nicely maintained and good to play from.

The fairways were good, firming up with the hot weather. I hit some balls in places I have not reached since last summer today on several holes.

The rough. What a difference a day makes. They had mowed the primary rough on the front down to a more normal 2-3". Most of the back was still 4-5". The native rough is knee deep and almost a sure lost ball.

The green side traps have decent sand but have not been raked recently. The fairway traps are much rougher around the edges.

The Bermuda greens putted medium speed and were firm. Hardly any ball marks because of the firmness.

No GPS on the basic carts and the course is not well marked for yardage. There are 150 yard palm markers and many holes have old marks on the cart paths, Makes it challenging to calculate distances unless you come equipped with a range finder/GPS. The customer service is very limited, no food or drink available currently. Grass range normally included in your fee is closed, but the chipping area is open. Recommended.

Desert Falls

Rode the Blues (6687/72.2/127) in 4.5H in clear, breezy conditions in the low 80's. Matched up with 3 nice Canadians who were good guys to play with. Their comments and disdain for the 4some in front of us that we waited on almost every hole cracked me up and kept things interesting.

Desert Falls contains holes set in rolling hills that you rarely encounter in the Palm Springs basin. Really like the Ron Fream links style design that is very atypical for the general area. Decent amount of water, high native grass and OB to keep you focused, but this is not an overly tight driving course.

Tees mostly lush and well maintained.

Fairways were nice to play from, mostly lush.

Primary rough was mowed down but still thick and it's difficult to get good club on the ball. Native rough needs to be avoided at all costs because even if you find your ball you probably cannot play it.

Sand traps around the greens had good quality sand that was well maintained. Fairway traps okay, more compacted.

Greens were firm but held shots okay with some runout and putted medium fast speed with few ball marks.

Their overseeding appears to be about 50/50 rye and poa over the whole course. It grows quickly and has good coverage throughout. The customer service was excellent from all encountered. Better than average all grass practice facility with complementary range balls. No drink cart, but they had a limited menu at their snack shop at the turn. Basic carts do not have GPS. Recommended, very fun layout to play.

Desert Links course

Rode the Blues (6687/72.2/127) in 3H with a nice husband/wife. We were on a 2.5H pace until we ran into a 2some, one walking on hole #15. Weather was overcast, windy and in the mid 60's.

Tees were lush and we;; maintained for divots.

Fairways were lush, good to play from.

The primary rough is lush. 1/2 club penalty, it's thick and 3+". Most of the very high native grass has been cut to not more than calf deep, huge improvement.

Green side traps were nicely maintained with soft, good quality sand. The fairway traps are rougher around the edges.

Large greens putted medium speed and were firm. Hardly any ball marks because of the firmness.

Desert Falls is not a tight layout overall but does have a decent amount of water and OB. Unusual in the Palm Springs area to play a links course set among rolling hills. No GPS on the basic carts and the course is not well marked for yardage. The customer service was excellent from all encountered. No cart person today but adequate water available on the course. Grass range included in your fee with nice short game practice area. Recommended.

Desert Falls

Rode the Blues (6687/72.2/127) in slightly less than 4.5H with Rich, Dave and Gary twilight using Underpar. Weather was sunny, breezy and in the low 80's.

Desert Falls completely over seeded this winter, so the course is much lusher than I have seen in years. Not a tight layout even with a decent amount of water and OB to keep you focused.

Tees were lush and maintained a little high, but hardly no divots anywhere.

Fairways were lush, good to play from.

The primary rough is lush. Nasty, deep in the 3-5" range. Most of the very high native grass has been cut to not more than calf deep, huge improvement.

Green side traps were nicely maintained with soft, good quality sand. The fairway traps are rougher around the edges.

Greens putted medium speed and were firm. Hardly any ball marks because of the firmness.

Unusual in the Palm Springs area to play a links layout set among rolling hills. One of my favorite layouts to play in the Palm Springs area. Recommended.

Watch what you do here

Purchased advance pay certificates for 6 people. Called the course for five days straight and they either had nothing available or the first tee time of 2:40 pm. When the sun goes down at 5:41 you can't finish a round. Now daylight saving time for Monday the 13th only a 7:30am shotgun start available. No times available for Tuesday. Today is Tuesday and we are staying in a condo on the 15th t box there has been three periods of 30 min or so with no players. But the course said they had no times available. Friends had to leave without using there certificates. BE CAREFUL HERE.

tough but fun course

The only reason for not giving all 5 stars was because they are getting ready for over-seeding it was very brown and dry. Very common this time of year. Greens and sand traps were in great condition. Fairly tough layout, but fair.

Playing off dead grass

Once again, the course should warn that they have let the course die off for overseeding. Arrived at the course for a 12:30 tee time. Pro shop was closed, and a single cart guy was working, collected money and sent me out.
Greens were in good shape, but not a single blade of green grass anywhere else.
I normally like the course and will probably play again once overseeding is complete, but I feel like I was hoodwinked into playing a course that should have been closed down.

Good challenge, very dry

This was our first time playing Desert Falls and as it is the end of the summer it was very dry. They are obviously getting ready for overseeding which made it an extra challenge but also made it inexpensive. It was also empty, so millionaires golf! The course is challenging with lots of undulation and large greens. We look forward to playing it again when it is green!

Excellent Value Good Shape for Summer

Bear in mind it's summer golf
Really enjoyed the course
Generous Fairways, puttable greens, consistent bunkers, peppered with hazards
Recommend for Beginners through to Mid Handicap golfers
Not a track for Low Handicappers
Had several birdie putts
My marketing slogan would be "Play the right tees and have fun!"
Very friendly staff and active maintenance team
Can feel the pride, that's nice
