Great Golf Facility

This is a must play if you r are in the Palm Desert area. The layout is tough so choose your tees wisely. There is room to hit it sideways but you will pay the price. Fairways, tees and greens are in great shape. Carts are dated with no gos. Great practice areas and food choices.

In Great Shape, Very Challenging

Desert Falls is in great shape, the best since Club Corp owned it 5 years ago, The Blue tees will challenge any golfer with a handicap in the 4-8 range, The course is a bit lush at the moment, but probably a necessary feature to let the Rye mature and thicken over the Bermuda underlayer. It's a very pretty course with wall-to-wall grass and great views of the mountains and desert. I have read reviews complaining about too much rough! Good lord, it's golf! You're supposed to have rough - this is identical to optimum rough at my home country club. The greens are a bit slow early in the day before the moisture evaporates. Could use to be rolled on occasion. It's a fun, challenging course, and you will find lots of open tee times.

Good course and plenty challenging

I really enjoyed the course. It’s enough of a challenge for a beginner, and really forces you to think about every shot and putt. Lots of tricky undulations, so you can’t just step up and swing away. The facility itself was good; although the clubhouse does need to be updated soon. Overall, the staff was super friendly, and someone even offered to wipe down my clubs while I putt on the 18th! I declined the offer, but it was just a super nice touch. I’ll be going back when I visit Coachella Valley again, and will try the blue tees. Also I have a score to settle with hole 1. 😅

Constant waiting!

So much so we gave up at hole #10! It was not the 2-some in front of us, but a group before them with 4 carts - constantly ‘gathering’! I was surprised there was not a Marshall monitoring play. There are far better courses for the $ in this area.

Very expensive for a bad muni type experience

We had a 1:50 pm tee time. The starter told us it was packed and that the groups ahead of us were members and may bail after 9, they did not. We had to stop at 5:50 (4 hours) due to darkness with 5 holes still to play. We were told that groups go off every 8 minutes. We played Desert Willow and mission hills both in under 4 hours and were told they have 10 minutes between groups. Something else we noticed was that they let a twosome of members squeeze in behind us at the last minute.
We understand slow play. It’s not a big deal if the group is playing ready golf. We watched the groups ahead of us do the opposite. As they had older players they were not hitting it very far, again not a big deal. Repeatedly they would sit in their cart until the group ahead of them finished putting, slowly walked to their cart, put their clubs away and wrote down their score before driving away. The group ahead of us would then get out of their cart, walk to their ball, measure the distance, walk back to their cart, buy their laser away, walk back to their ball and then hit. They would then drive to the other side of the fairway, 20 yards away, and repeat the process. The two groups ahead of them wete doing the same thing (we had parallel fairways a few times. If you think this is brutal to read then you can imagine having to watch it on most holes.
The facilities might have been nice when the Rat Pack was around but now the concrete is dirty and cracked. The pro shop is sad.

My buddy refused to get s ball to put in his ball fisplay at home.

Solid Layout

Played early in the AM, so pace of play was very good. Solid layout, tougher than most resort courses especially from longer tees. Good value compared to other signature courses in the area.

Desert Falls II

First time playing was a couple of years ago just before course closure. So glad to see it when it was green. Fairly open fairways with challenging greens which rolled good. Great clubhouse & lounge.

Cut the grass!

Very nice layout challenging course
Greens were good condition
Unfortunately the fairways were very lush and thick more like playing from the rough not really a fairway.
The rough was very deep , thick and wet!

Nice Layout

Had a 6:54 AM tee time. Intentionally played by myself so I could make flight home. With no one in front of me, played in 2:30. Since it was early morning, course was still damp, and temperatures cool so it played longer, especially uphill approach shots and shots from the rough. Tees and some fairways were a bit longer than I think they should have been, but probably just being a bit picky. Greens were generally narrow and many were multi-tiered. Without a GPS on the cart first time playing the course, it was difficult to know where to "miss" on approach shots. Overall, I was very impressed with the course layout, conditions, and value. Will play next visit to Palm Springs.

Nice course interesting greens

As indicated in the title, the greens are interesting. Most are long but narrow with very small target areas. It’s important to know if the green is in the front, middle or back, because it can both make the distance very greatly and determine where the edges of the green are. Definitely your normal round or oval greens. I couldn’t tell where the flag was on the green from where I hit my drives. As a result I was short,or long several times. Use a rangefinder rather than relying on your GPS, ( which the carts don’t have)

Course was in good condition. Some patchy spots in the fairway, but I noticed them when driving by in the cart, they didn’t seem to be near my landing ares.

I posted a couple of pictures that show a few greens.

It was a lot of fun and a good short game test for the time you inevitably miss greens.

Not as good as it used to be

New owners a few years back have not been able to make it viable and the course has certainly slipped from years past

Nice Challenging Course

I've played this course a few times from the blue tees. One of the things I like best about it is that the homes in the community are not too close and that the course is in the center, surrounded by the houses. This means the fairways are not too narrow or surrounded by houses on both sides.
It's a good long course with two of the par 3's around 200 yards and all four par 5's running over 500 yards.
The greens are in good shape, fairways better.
