After we got around the slow group we could play quickly.
We had a little room on the front before we caught up with a group of ladies, that we thought would let us through, after waiting for them to hit numerous balls and shots of those balls on three holes, we realized they weren't going to let us through. A little frustrating we finally went up and asked to let us play through(if there would have been a course attendant) we wouldn't have had to do this.
So no player assistant(actually there was, he was busy looking for balls and repairing divots), course was in okay shape, not bad, not as good as it has been in the past.
No beverage cart, what? It's 85 degrees out and can't get something to drink except water except at the bar at the turn. BS BS BS. Was told it's the pro's decision (dumb, dumb).
No need to go back.
Extremely slow play
Skipped out of work early on a Friday to get a round in. Had a 1:20pm tee time. We were backed up from the very start. I finally called the club house on the 7 hole as a group on 9 was just goofing off and was holding up the whole side. No one in front of them. Unfortunately no marshall showed up. We left after 14 as it was getting dark.
Too bad, a nice course but no control over pace of play.
Good course poor service
I have played this course from the time it opened and have always liked the layout However while I live less than 5 minutes away I do not play it often. Over the years I have noticed that the attitude of the employees has gotten less friendly. And it is markedly so if you use Golf Now. Most recently the first words out of the person checking me in after I indentified myself was "You are one of the Golf Now people." As usually we arrived early. We went to the starter and were ready to play although about 25 minutes before our time and the tee was open however the starter said there were a couple of groups before us. Just then a person came up to check in and told the starter they were walk ons with no reservation. The starter told them that they could proceed to the tee. After they and a group walking went off, we were allowed to tee off. We then proceeded to play the front nine in approx. 3 hours which is absurd for a 7:08 tee time. We then went to number 10 to find the 2 groups in front of us on the tee. After playing the hole the other twosome with us said they had enough and left. We proceeded on and played 11 and 12. When we got to 13 we could see that the group the starter sent off with no tee time was almost 2 holes behind the group in front of them which was the first group of the day. We decided to skip 13 and 14 and played 15 on in. After we finished and packed up I could see than the slow group was not even on 18. Had we played all 18 we would have been well over 5 hours. Not acceptable for the 4th group of the day on a course.
The course is nice and the price is not too bad for a good course but over priced for 16 holes and poor attitudes.
Below average
The pace of play was very, very slow.....our tee time was 1:15 and we ran out of day light and couldn't finish. The in cart timer said we were 1 hour behind normal pace of play.....never saw a course Marshall to speed the pace up.
Coupons
I received a coupon card of yours from my son for my birthday that he bought at Costco. Between my travel schedule and the weather this is the first opportunity I had to golf. Found out the coupon had expired. I find this very unusual. I don't understand the difference if a golf coupon were used 1 hour or 1 year after purchase...a round of golf is a round of golf. Unlike a clothing or food coupon that would have a expiration date due to availability of the product, the course wouldn't be moving so the availability would be constant and you have control over the timing. Now I can only redeem half the cost of the coupon. If you want to remain consistent then I would only be able to play nine holes. Very irritating situation.
Great course
Found a tee time at half price and would've payed more had I known it was such a great course. Staff was super friendly , a lot more than other staffs at other San Diego courses. Would've rated higher but a few of the greens were sanded but oh well I'd do it again!
Worst Experience on a JC Course Ever
Yesterday, I and my 2 golfing partners who are JC members had an early afternoon tee time (1:28pm) whereas we almost always play early in the morning. After we checked in we found out that the range was closed. Next we discovered there was no starter so at our assigned time we started ourselves. By hole #3 we found that we were 4 groups deep on the same hole and it was staying that way. There was no marshall on a Saturday so we called the pro shop to explain.
On the next hole someone had come out and we told him of the situation. Promising action he went ahead but never came back to tell us what he was able to do.. In addition nothing ever happened to alleviate the crowding.
In front of was a 4, a 3, a 3, a 1 (young man with his mother), our 3. A good reason for a marshall would have been the non-playing mother in front of us. It was cart path only a starting from the tee box even 335 yards out, the mother and the son would use a range finder. Considering he couldn't hit a driver 200 yds that was obnoxious. Once in the fairway the young man and his mother would walk down with one iron, they would both use the range finder, then she would go back to the cart for a second club, and do it again sometimes for a third club! Our request to them to take several clubs at once fell on deaf ears.
All combined this lead to a 2:50 9 holes. We played until it was dark and had to abandon the last 3 holes. When we got back to the pro shop in the near pitch dark everything was closed except the person assigned to putting the carts that had been left in front of the pro shop in the cart barn. Consequently there was no one to talk to about this miserable day.
My advice would be to consider carefully if you play in the afternoon.
Lots of Mud
Lots of mud and course was very soggy. I know it rained the week before but I would have thought the course would have dried out. Also challenging when you have to play 90 degree rule and no driving on the course (cart path only). This hinders your experience. Other than that greens rolled nice and people are great...
Twin Oaks in San Marcos
The rack rate for weekday play with GPS cart is +$80 which is pretty steep for this quality of course. Our Golfnow rate of $45 was more appropriate. The course offers a good variety of holes, doglegs in both directions and par 3s of different lengths. Conditions are what one would expect on a mid-winter Bermuda course, although the dormant fairways were far better than some of the other area courses we've played. The forward tees do not provide much of a break for women golfers. It seems unlikely that the course will add a set of new tees which should be 30-40 yards ahead in many cases. The course is in a housing development but there are plenty of trees and the homes do not intrude at all. Greens were in fine condition for a heavily used public course, but I repaired half a dozen pitch marks just about every time. Doesn't anyone carry a repair tool anymore?
Twin Oaks
All sorry that I took so long to right my review of Twin Oaks golf course. I found the course inviting and slightly challenging, this was due in part to the recent rain that graced the SoCal area. The course handled the excess water and held up really well. The greens surprisingly retained some speed except for a couple of holes that mystified our foursome as we gave them a bit more respect on the downhill attempts than we should have. Nice course that I would like to see on a dry day and would recommend to a friend, the course managing members were friendly and helpful. The only negative note was that pesky Ambassador (nice guy) who followed my group for a couple of holes during the tournament.
Map quest and TomTom both had trouble finding this
San Diego received badly neede rain in the preceding 24 hours. The course didn't drain well so it was cart path only for the whole day. This slowed down the pace of play. We should have walked. The cores is very walkable. Course was scenic and somewhat challenging. Had a chance rouse all clubs in my bag. We arrived after a small tournament and in spite of calling in for 2 hot dogs at the 9th hole, we still had to wait over 10 minutes to pick them up. The food/beverage/refreshment part of this golf experience left something to be desired. Otherwise we were pleased.
A very nice course
We enjoyed playing this course but as we were a 2 ball we had to wait on every shot which was very frustrating & rather spoil the game for us even when the people behind joined us for the last few holes we were still waiting.
Hour delay due to no carts
First I Disappointed and did not know that when you sign up for a tee time on Golf Now it does not guarantee you that exact tee time. Knowing this and with the situation that just occurred I will most likely minimize using Golf Now.
I have no complaints about the course it self and in fact the cart person was excellent. Great customer service. The issue was we had over an hour delay because the course did not have golf carts. We had to wait for other groups to complete their round so we could start ours. In talking with many of the course attendants this has been an issue for a while now and could have been fixed.
Okay so this issue occurred and I get it but when complaining to the course after our round they offered us NOTHING. I mean a free drink, Free lunch, a discount on a round of golf. ZERO.
Bad Customer Service FOR SURE.Customer Service FOR SURE.
A warm day and no water!
The day we played was warm and we started of with a medium bucket of balls. I was hot and thirsty and walked to the water cooler and it was bone dry. That sucked. We went to hole 1 at 2:55 pm thinking we would see a beverage cart. Nothing. Funny, I saw it parked there. No water coolers along the course. The restroom station had a water fountain but very little came out and it was hot. After hole 9 we stop at the bar to get some cold water and a beer. Good thing we did because we didn't see the beverage cart at all the whole time we played the back 9. That made my friends and I very disappointed of our outing at the course. I expected at least water coolers like the lesser expensive courses that I've played :(
Twin Oaks -- Fun day of golf
Course is in good condition and a fun day of golf.
Decent course
Good course in good condition. The fairways, bunkers (I was only in one), tee boxes, and greens were in very good shape. The staff was excellent. As a JC course, this course usually runs a bit high.... I got a great deal on GolfNow! I would play this course again with another great deal!!!
