Dolphin Head Golf Course

This is a great layout. Challenging and fun at the same time. Staff was very friendly and the course is in great shape.

Formerly private course now open to public great design and very interesting holes. Long par threes from blue tees

Totally enjoyed this track and will definitely play there again! The greens could not have been better and overall layout was challenging and fair.

The course was in great shape and the greens were fast but true. Sand was a bit packed due to rain earlier in the day. We played the front nine and wished we had booked the 18. The layout is great for shot making and pushing risk/ reward. The latter is especially true on the 9th hole where a good tee shot can set you up to go for the green. The staff very friendly and welcoming. We will be back.

I have no issues with the course itself. Fun, challenging and in perfect condition. My issue would be with Management. One slow 4 some caused a 2 hr 40 minute round on the front. At #7 one of the rangers ( off duty ) but was our starter when I teed off, caught up to the log jam and asked what was wrong. Explained slow 4some. His solution was to go around the groups waiting to play, and jump in front of log jam. Also, 90 degree day; beverage cart was out of beverages at 2:00 Pm and she said she wasn't coming back out. Police your course.....Pace of play is 4 hours. If you want us to fix divots and ball marks and maintain pace of play, do your part to maintain pace of play. Keep up with the group in front???? That was the problem. We were a 2 some and we typically play 9 holes in HHI in about 1 hr 40 min. 5 groups were delayed as a result of this one 4 some. And they wouldn't let anyone play through. All this was frustrating, but not enough to prevent me from coming back, so I guess this means mgmt won't do anything to prevent this in the future. Shame on Dave the starter. He should have "put them on the clock" rather than driving around them and continue his round. Not a good look.

Basic layout, decent greens, very basic in amenities.

The service from the cart crew at arrival and departure was first class and friendly. The course layout is great, playing every club in your bag. On the GIR, doesn’t guarantee you a par as the greens are FAST, sloped and multi level. Plenty of water on the course, restrooms on each side, beverage carts out and about. Pace of play was avg at just under 4.5 but could have been quicker but a few in our group took a few extra shots/putts if you know what I mean.
This is a must add to your trip.

First time playing this course in Hilton Head Plantation. Other reviews were quite positive and now I can agree 100%. Greens were quick and smooth, but held a shot very well. It's an older course but in great condition and can be a little challenging depending on the tees you play. Most holes are what they appear to be, so hidden hazards or tricked up in some way. Just be aware of the long fairway bunker and water hazard on the 16th hole. Pace of play seemed a little slow, but we got around in 4 hrs. Nice range and short game practice area. We will play this course again.

The conditions were very good. The greens were the fastest I have played in Hilton Head and very challenging. The layout is friendly with wide fairways but adequate challenges.

Our group absolutely loves this course. Greens were great, fairways outstanding and pace of play was under 4 hours for our foursome.
I would strongly urge anyone to play Dolphin Head.

A very enjoyable course typical of the Low Country. Very good conditions all around except bunkers which are hard and thin. Nice layout, great price, helpful staff, good practice facility. Several doglegs you can hit through so select clubs accordingly. Marshal passed us three times on front 9 - but not once on back where we slogged behind a mixed foursome. Note: They do not take AmEx.

Interesting closing holes: A par-3 with a boomerang green. Easy to be on and have no putt. Then a risk-reward par-5 with water all the way down the right side to the green. Also has a 2nd fairway for another tee box. That'd be really risky!

Terrific generally open course and fairways. Course was in very good condition except for bunkers. The bunkers were thin and the rough was high. Very playable for mid to high handicappers.

Played numerous courses on the island and this is by far the best value for the money. Course was in very good condition especially for this time of year. Pace of play was good. Nice layout. Like the fact that they informed you that the greens were aerated before the round.

Course in great shape. Challenging but fair. No hold-ups at all, and greens were in perfect shape.

Pace was slow, but all due to a slow foursome in front of us who was not interested in letting our threesome play through.

Course is beautiful! Couldn’t believe how nice the fairways were throughout the course. Staff was very nice. Played for 25$ for 18 holes. Super value for the quality of the course!
