The Calibogue & The Haig at Haig Point Club
About
With 20 holes comprising the Calibouge and Haig courses and designed by Rees Jones, the Haig Point Club is an exclusive, private club located in Daufuskie Island, across the Calibogue Sound from Hilton Head Island. "I had never seen a property quite like Haig Point ... with such a pristine setting and all the elements to create a great golf course," Jones has said of Haig Point. "It has the ocean, the sound, the marshes, fantastic vegetation ... I knew when I first saw it we could build a world-class golf course." The course is one that maximizes its location. Many of the holes feature coastline and forced carries. Lush island forests will be a part of your day at this club, which is only accessible via ferry. "The Haig Point Club is just a great mixture of spectacular views and golf," said a TravelGolf.com writer.

Great day on the Calibogue Course
Greens were absolutely perfect. Great layout with many choices of tees to play. Beautiful holes with views of the Calibogue Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. Staff was great from the ferry ride to the golf club.
Nice Track.....except....
This course layout is definitely unique as the two courses (Haig & Calibogue) both start on the same tee box and continue together for quite a few holes before splitting off. The course itself, is a very nice track providing scenic views of Harbortown and the ICW on mnay holes. As for the greens, this is where your strokes can add up, as many of them have big undulations. they were recently aerated, and a few had turf replaced on the edges making it difficult putt or chip in some cases. They also "thin spots".
Overall, very nice track and I would play it again.
Don't forget this place while visiting Hilton Head
I had been over here several times and it never disappoints. This day was quite chilly and the holes near the water were particularly freezing, but that didn't dampen any of the round one bit.
This place is magical. You take a 30-minute boat ride over and back. It's a simple and relaxing part of the day.
The golf course is unique and has a lot of character. The par 3s are incredibly difficult, especially for me and how I was hacking it around on this day.
There are several views over to the lighthouse at Harbour Town and the famous 18th hole. But Haig Point is every bit as magical and well worth the effort to get there.
Lowcountry Gem
Outstanding experience. Beautiful layout among moss draped oaks and pines. Tough course, much more of a challenge than Harbor Town just across Calibouge Sound.
Great golf, one with nature
This is a low country gem, combining the genius of a great Rees Jones design, the natural beauty and abundant wildlife of a coastal island, and the amenities of a high end club. Play serious or casual golf among bald eagles and deer, with views of dolphins and the occasional shrimp boat! Wonderful.
This course is super challenging, but wonderfully rewarding!
If you haven't played the Signature Course at Haig Point, you are missing out on one of the best golf courses in the world. The course is challenging, but rewards good shots and solid play. If you play the course on consecutive days, the course will likely feel and play differently as the wind often changes from day to day. The long par three you easily pared with the wind at your back, turns into a 2 club change and challenge to hopefully make par. The multiple tee options also allow for the top golfers and novice golfers to all enjoy this one of a kind course. Don't wait any longer to schedule a long weekend of golf at Haig Point.
Island Paradise
Truly an experience all should enjoy. The weather, course condition ,club amenities, staff helpfullness, etc truly makes this a " got to play ".
Paradise on the course
The course is beautiful, manicured and challenging. The island, where we took some time after playing to drive around some (golf carts) is equally mesmerizing.
Not sure I have played a place that is as engaging and challenging in recent times.
bucket list course
go out of your way a bit and make this short ferry trip it adds to the great day you will experience on the course.
Incredible course
Incredible course. Very challenging. A must play course for everyone. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful
The lack of noise from cars and the magnificent water views make playing here a privilege. Not to mention 1 of the best layouts you’ll ever play!
Something Different!
I love everything about this course. The course itself is challenging and beautiful. The location makes it unique and a special place to play.
Beat kept secret in the low country
This course shouldn’t be a secret. With sweeping views of the Calibogue Sound, this course gives you the option to challenge your skill on the Calibogue tees or play the Haig tees for something of a less challenge. Each winter it is over seeded which makes it a rare exception to play on lush green fairways, conditions not duplicated by other area course.
Haig Point has set a new high bar for me when it comes to a golf experience.
Course Design/Layout: What sets this course apart from most tracks is the fact that every hole is smartly designed to be distinct from one another. Most notably the par 4s were very unique, which is rare for most courses. In addition, there are a good mix of fairway and greenside bunkers, which will challenge golfers of all levels. The hole 8 par 3 and hole 14 par 5 were among my favorites.
Course Maintenance: I have to tip my cap to the maintenance team as the course is in unbelievable shape. From the tee boxes, to the fairways/rough, to the greens, the course is completely covered with lush grass (no brown spots to be found). Above all though are the greens! They are absolutely fantastic and some of the most pure greens I’ve ever played on – it felt like I was playing on a PGA Tour-level greens.
Staff: The staff are some of the best in the business. They are all super friendly and really made me feel at home.
Facilities: The practice range, putting green, and locker room are top notch. They are great facilities and I’d recommend getting there at least an hour before your round to take advantage of them.
Environment/Atmosphere: One of the more unique experiences with this course is getting to take a ferry across the Calibogue Sound to Daufuskie Island – this really sets the tone for a top-notch, premium experience. The setting/nature that the course is surrounded by is unreal, with multiple holes nestled along the marsh/water. There is also plenty of wildlife with alligators, osprey, herrings, and deer. Definitely grab a drink on the patio to close out the magical experience.

Marvelous course - Ocean views
The course will give even low handicap golf’s a test. It also give less advanced golfer’s easier tee options - making it more enjoyable for those of us that are not scratch. A must if you are in the Hilton Head area.
