Had a very enjoyable round of golf, great weather, good pace, course in good condition, greens were putting very true.
The course is in great shape, the price is very reasonable, and the staff is very friendly.
Thanks for your review! we hope to see you back here soon!
Course hasn’t rebounded completely from Dorian and some mowing still needed to. W done, but it was still a good day for golf...
Thanks for the feedback, we got everything mowed to proper heights on Thursday. We hope to see you again soon!
Well maintained course. Played 9. Excellent condition. Wide fairways forgiving.
Thanks for the feedback, we look forward to having you back soon!
Was a single matched up with a couple guys who turned out to be from my home area in Illinois. Galleon/clipper were the nines for today’s round. Not a galleon fan but I do like clippers layout. Still, any day on the golf course is a good day.
Thanks for playing, hope to see you again soon.
One of many rounds I e played here. 18 this time was Galleon/Clipper nines. Was a single playing behind a threesome that were slow. Thankful I wasn’t put with them at the first tee. Was able to take my time since they were so slow. Not sure what the Ranger could have done to give them a push but I’ve never experienced a ranger trying to quicken the pace of play here anyway.
Thanks for the feedback, we're glad to have you out here. We hope to see you again soon.
Bag men at drop off area clearly chose another group to engage with when we arrived-stereotyped?! We had purchased through Golfnow app, thus we were instructed to checkin inside gift shop. Here’s where the staff could have mentioned the bathroom code, that would of been nice/courteous of the staff to mention for guests playing. Another impactful moment would of been when the starter greeted us near 1st tee to mention the mythical bathroom code. Ok, done being on my bathroom pulpit box.
Course was in great shape for late July. Pace play was great. Suggestion to F/B staff schedule more then 1 beverage cart for the 27 holes that Shipyard offers.
Hats off to course Superintendent for course condition late July.
Will play the course again as it has ideal proximity for family.
First off, thank you for playing and your feedback on how we can improve, If you would be open to having a conversation, I would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about how you were greeted so that I can address that with our team. The direct phone number to my office is (843) 681-1503,.
Very nice course!
Challenging yet forgiving course. Friendly staff!
Thanks for playing, hope to see you on your next trip to the Island!
Came here for the first time and brought nephew and his friend. Had a great time golfing but fairways were off in a way of burnt or dried out. Some greens were the same way like they got scalped . But overall the coarse layout was great! Hope to come back again!
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed playing at Shipyard, thanks for coming out and your feedback!
Shipyard was in the best shape I have ever seen it. I have been playing there for over 15 years and great shape. The greens rolled true could have been a little faster but still good speed. Starter was great paired me up with another guy to prevent log jam. Great value $40.00 with range balls and a drink.
Thank you for visiting and playing! I'm glad to hear the maintenance team's hard work is showing through. Hope you've had safe travels home and we'll see you on your trip to HHI.
I have been coming to HHI for summer vacation for the last 35(ish) years, so I know most of the tracks on (and off) the island.
Shipyard (Clipper/Galleon) is a LOT of FUN. We played from the blues and it is a challenge. Course is well-groomed. You need all of your shots to get around the doglegs (right and left), short/long par threes and long(ish) par 5s. The course is not ridiculous-tight, but you will be punished if you spray the ball too much.
Like other commenters, I'm not a fan of the greens. Very astroturfy and very slow. But, I'm from the Northeast, so I expect unfamiliar grasses when playing down here.
A day well spent, for sure.
Thanks for coming and playing, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your day!
The zoysia grass on our greens does get slower in the summertime due to the thick blade. When it's growing like it does in the heat, it limits how quick the greens can get. Hope you get the chance though to visit in the fall through late spring when they are really good!
Just Challenging Enough
The course is just challenging enough to keep your attention. The greens leave something to be desired. They felt like astro turf and were unusually slow. Overall, the Brigantine and Clipper courses we're enjoyable to play.
Thank you for coming out to play Shipyard - I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your day!
