Silver Oak Golf Course
About
The centerpiece of the Silver Oak residential community in Northwest Carson City and just a 25-minute drive from the Reno, Silver Oak Golf Course is part of what makes the High Sierra a world-class golf destination.
Playing to 6,392 yards and with five sets of tees, Silver Oaks is a course where both a scratch golfer and a high-handicapper can find a challenge. An intriguing layout that highlights the nearby Sierra Foothills, Silver Oaks will test a players game while offering scenic beauty.
With a very respectable slope rating of 130, players will need to bring their game to score low. But even better than the interesting design and scenic qualities is the green fees. You'll rarely need to fork over more than $30 to play this respected 18-hole championship golf course that includes top-of-line practice facilities.

Surprising course
It's interesting that the course look relatively flat but when you start the front nine you are climbing a mountain with some really tough approach shots and some great views of the Carson valley .back nine has a totally different lay out .more flat but challenging .had a good time and would play again.
good golf
This is the 3rd time we have played this course and have enjoyed it every time. The course has some challenging holes, beautiful views and always are treated well upon arriving.
nice golf coarse
coarse in great condition and a great day to golf.the front and back were very different
Surprise Oasis
Did not know what to expect. This course is fairly wide open. The trick with this course is the varying elevation from tee to green.
Decent track
I enjoyed playing this course. To be honest, my review may be a little more critical because I am used to playing a VERY well maintained and manicured Club track, but for a public course, this was about average. Far better than many munis I've played, and for the price, pretty playable.
Yes, bunkers are a little shallow,of sand. But come on...they are hazards! I played from the back tees, and there are some very visually and actually challenging shots from the tee. Elevation changes on the front nine can get into your head as well.
The back nine opens up and is a little flatter. The greens are approachable and have some pretty significant slopes on them. They would be more than exciting if they mowed them even to a 9 or 10 stomp, but I would estimate them at about 8. A little too slow for my taste.
I drove over from South Lake Tahoe. If you want a break from $150 greens fees, this is a drive worth the trip, but watch the weather...it can get very windy.
Must play
This course is a must play if you are in the Reno/Carson area. About a 25 minute ride from Reno and easy to find. some challenging holes and very scenic. MUST PLAY
No real trouble.
Nice course for the high handicapper...wide fairways and no real trouble. Short course with 5 par threes. Greens were very slow and well maintained. Facilities were very nice, but a surprising lack of trash cans on the course (I know this sounds petty, but you really miss them when they are not there). Nice elevation changes that were easy to manage. Definitely bring your GPS range finder.
Hill side
Nice course. Front nine more difficult than back nine but overall for the course is worth playing.
Good condition and fun
Course is always in good condition and fun to play.
Nice course
Had not played there in approximately 9-10 years. Some areas of ground under repair, none of which came into play however. Course was in great shape other than that. Had a great day!
Windy !!
Course is in great shape, greens are very slow but in great condition. Played in the afternoon, became very windy. Paired u with a great guy from reno. Had a fun day for sure..
Silver Oak inthe Silver State
Great day on the coarse, nice pace, the coarse could use more water it is already looking and playing dry, greens were nice, the wind came up in the afternoon which is expected in any sierra coarse I guess. Had a great round of golf.
Decent for the season
Overall in decent shape for the time of year. Greens were long, but ok. Didn't roll great but should be great in a couple of weeks. Fairways were average, but again should shape up nicely. Great course overall, look forward towards playing it again in 2-3 weeks once conditions improve.
MEH.....
Course is usually in much better condition than it is this season but overall it plays as an average coarse. Fairways a pretty beat up and the greens a cut a little long in my opinion. Overall still a pretty fun and challenging coarse for the area. This year it gets a 5/10, usually about a 6 or 7.
Beautiful course!
Course was in good shape with some weeds in bunkers. Staff was really friendly. I enjoy playing the challenges of this course a couple times a year and you get a great view overlooking carson at a couple holes that go up the mountain.
For march it was great!
Good condition for the end of March!
Nice hilly course! Back 9 fairways are open and wide!!
Course in pretty good shape for this early in the season
Fun course in pretty good shape considering the date.
Greens good, fairways and rough have a ways to go.
Definitely worth the money- played in 3.5 hours
Great Course
This course has several holes that challenge a golfers ability to hit the ball straight up and over hills . Lots of fun
fun course - not too long
I finally broke 100. There is a definite advantage from the womens tee. The greens were vererery slow
but at least they were consistent so I could adapt to the condition. I'm a happy camper especially paying winter rates.
