Silver Oak Golf Course
About
The centerpiece of the Silver Oak residential community in Northwest Carson City and just a 25-minute drive from the Reno, Silver Oak Golf Course is part of what makes the High Sierra a world-class golf destination.
Playing to 6,392 yards and with five sets of tees, Silver Oaks is a course where both a scratch golfer and a high-handicapper can find a challenge. An intriguing layout that highlights the nearby Sierra Foothills, Silver Oaks will test a players game while offering scenic beauty.
With a very respectable slope rating of 130, players will need to bring their game to score low. But even better than the interesting design and scenic qualities is the green fees. You'll rarely need to fork over more than $30 to play this respected 18-hole championship golf course that includes top-of-line practice facilities.

Hidden Gem
What a great course! The layout between the front and back nine are very different; front nine being buried on the side of the mountain with various elevation changes and the back nine on a fairly flat terrain but with some water and rolling challenges. Course is very green, well groomed and the greens and tee boxes were pristine! If you don't like wind, be advised... It blows here! Aside from the wind, conditions were great! I'll be back...
Great course design.
Very well maintained Golf Course with lots of OB and an island green on the last hole par 5. Couple of holes are uphill to the green. Very nice view of the valley. Will play it again.
challenge at time but it is a fun course.
First time play on this course, jointed up with 3 local course members, one is a course champ, before we start, they warn me that they are very fast players, but I kept up with them, they turn out to be very nice, we had a great time playing golf that day.
A must for my Family!
Have played here since it opened. My family returns each year as one of the area's courses we MUST play. Great staff, very good conditions and a great value.
Great lay out.
Great staff, club house, pro shop and the starter was a big help .I was new to the course and their map was very useful
The price through Golf now seemed to be fair.
Very nice course
The course is great shape. The staff was whilst nice. I highly recommend playing this course.
This is great course
This is a great course for the money. There are many challenging holes with a lot of elevation changes.
Great Course for Reno
Great course for those that live in Reno. Quick drive of `30 minutes. Course is in immaculate shape! Back nine is very golf friendly. Front nine is very challenging. Good deal for the money
Good value and enjoyable for the average golfer
Played in the afternoon. No problem finishing in under 3.5 hours. Riding carts must be returned by 7PM.
Great Pro Shop and Starter Staff
Had a great time! Pro Sop and Starter staff were great! One of my favorite courses and in pretty good shape for this time of year. Acceptance of my pre-paid voucher was professional (not true at all courses?). My single complaint were the pin placements. They were set as if they were expecting an Open Qualifier as compared to the Memorial Day weekend golfers. Maybe an 18 year old with a bad sense of humor and no adult supervision?
Good for the money.
The course was is good shape but the greens were very slow. A couple challenging holes but other than that a very easy fun course.
This course was a lot of fun.
A great course for the price. The front 9 was very challenging for my buddy and I. Great elevation changes on the front nine. The back nine leveled out and helped bring back down our scores. :) Overall fun track to play.
up hill par 5, up hill par 4 (good luck)
these 2 holes will chew up your score, boggie is like a birdie.
one of the more challenging yet forgiving courses in the Reno-Carson area!
You will not find a better maintained course for the money in the Carson Tahoe area. Great driving range and practice areas. Gas golf carts for the uphill climbs on the front nine. Difficult tee to green on a lot of the holes but most holes allow for error with plenty of grass right or left of fairways. You are rewarded when reaching the green by large, beautifully maintained yet challenging greens. Only thing that could be done to improve the experience would be to finish paving some of the cart paths and put gps systems on the carts. On course refreshments should always be provided on sunny, warm days also.
Good Value
The course is in good shape. The greens were recently sanded, T's plugged & sanded, Putting was a little challenging, Fairways in good shape
Once or twice a year
The staff seem to be a little confused and disorganized. In their defense it is early in the year and it was a busy day. They seem to do better when business is slow.
The course is in good shape, well maintained, well watered. The front nine I can do without. It is built on the mountainside , rough terrain including a couple of holes where your approach shot is to a well elevated green and you cannot see the pin. Bad design. The back nine is much better and is in very good shape
this field very ordinary
On tee off missing indication for distances (plates on the floor)
There was no information of each hole on the same scorecard.
The only indication that there was on the fairway was a post at 150 yards.
He had run after the sprinklers to find distances
Regarding sand traps, they were not good and it was cut in the rock rather than sand
Front 9 is very stiff hill.
If you want to chalenge a tough course, this 9 is the one. Not long but tough. Very windy.
front nine wide open
always enjoy this course. for this time of year March the course was in very good condition. enjoy the difference in the two nines mountain view are wonderful with the snow still on them
