About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 71
Length 6392 yards
Slope 130
Rating 70.6

The centerpiece of the Silver Oak residential community in Northwest Carson City and just a 25-minute drive from the Reno, Silver Oak Golf Course is part of what makes the High Sierra a world-class golf destination.

Playing to 6,392 yards and with five sets of tees, Silver Oaks is a course where both a scratch golfer and a high-handicapper can find a challenge. An intriguing layout that highlights the nearby Sierra Foothills, Silver Oaks will test a players game while offering scenic beauty.

With a very respectable slope rating of 130, players will need to bring their game to score low. But even better than the interesting design and scenic qualities is the green fees. You'll rarely need to fork over more than $30 to play this respected 18-hole championship golf course that includes top-of-line practice facilities.

Good golf course for all levels of player

For winter golf the course was in great shape. Decent practice facility with large putting/chipping green and a grass driving range. The grass has gone dormant but once the greens softened up they accepted balls nicely. Lack of starter kinda congested things, seam like everyone teed of together. We caught the foursome in front of us quickly, but after a few hole they kindly let my friend and i thru. The course was not too tough but fair. Kind of short, most par 3's were only about 130yrds from the blue tees. All in all it was a very pleasant golfing experience and i would definitely play there again.

Fun golf course!!

Course is apparently under new management. We ended up returning the golf cart after the first hole cause it wasn't charged up and then by the 13th hole the next golf cart we got lost most of it's charge and one player ended up walking. The course was in fairly good condition considering it's February and we've had snow and cold temperatures. Still love playing the course.

course is in excellent shape, and challenging!

Besides the wonderfull course we played for the first time here, in pristine condition, is also challenging , at least the first nine!
We had a "bite" to eat at the Caffeteria which was most interesting with all the nostalgic mementos, just wonderful to see, soft music. the food was exceptional good, and the glass of wine was a great deal. very friendly staff, at the golf pro shop as well in the caffeteria.
great place, we will be back! A great deal fo the money!

Beautiful course with distinct front and back 9's

The front nine has undulating elevations amongst the foothills. The back nine is nestled among the attractive homes around the course. Overall, the course is super maintained and beautiful. Greens and fairways are cut perfectly for maximum roll.

Hard to rate a course when so windy

It was not to windy when we started at 10:30 but within an hour or so it was difficult to enjoy the round and give an objective review. I'm told not unusual for area.

A hidden gem

My husband and I have played this course many times and always enjoy it. It is a fun, challenging course with a great layout. The front 9 is more fun to play than the back 9 but overall it is a great course. We played several times while in Reno this summer and usually went out by ourselves; however, pace of play can be over 5 hours if you are caught behind a tournament, which happened to us and we eventually walked off the course.

This is a hidden gem, find the time to play it.
