Flying L Guest Ranch Golf Course
About
The majestic, rolling hills and towering oaks of the scenic Texas Hill Country serve as a backdrop to the Flying L Guest Ranch Golf Course & Resort. The course begins with a challenging front nine with numerous doglegs and uneven lies at every turn. The signature hole, the par-3 seventh, features a green that is surrounded by water on three sides and a spectacular view of the mountains. Flying L Guest Ranch Golf Course & Resort's back nine is less challenging than the front nine, but it has a few interesting surprises in store. It has a more classic and open layout than the front nine, but there are four holes with water and several strategically placed bunkers to watch out for. Flying L also features a two-tiered driving range with a chipping and putting green.

A great golf course in the Texas hill country
I live in San Antonio and play various courses in the area. Every once in a while we have gone to Bandera to play at the Flying L. Each time that I go it seems that course has continued to improve. I'll be playing here more often now that it has become a very nice golf course at a reasonable price.
Excellent conditions
Very pleased with course condition. Greens were impressive. Really quite and peaceful. Great Day of Golf enjoyed by all.
Nice country course. Fair prices. Nice place to play.
Nice country course. Fair prices. Nice place to play. Would recommend to a friend or family member.
Bandera Jewel
This course is deceptively challenging! Greens are in really great shape. Scenery is amazing! Club selection from the tee is a major factor in scoring on this course. Unique natural obstacles throughout with changes in elevation to green play a factor in your approach.
Will definitely return!
Not a Country Club, but not rinky dink either. Nice Hill Country Course
Played in September 2013 but have played many times. Layout is pretty cool: nice mixture of target golf and bombs away from the tee. A few greens were under repair and a few others were in need of attention; overall I'd rate these greens at 3-4/10. Missing the fairway often leads to a rocky lie, which is sometimes intentional as there is no shortage of waste areas. Two long par 5s and two reachable par 5s, with a very nice mixture of par 4s mean you will likely hit all the clubs in the bag if you play it right. It's a great course for the money, especially if you find a Hot Deal. Fall and early Winter is the time to play this course.
This coures is nestled in the heart of the Hill Country.
Enjoy playing this course as it is challenging and located in the heart of the Hill Country. The staff is friendly and you set the pace of play. I recommend this course as a nice change of pace and setting.9
The course has great views
The course was in very good condition considering the current drought. A placement and shot makers course. You can put up some low numbers.
A Great Hill Country Course.
I almost always enjoy playing Bandera's Flying L, and this time was no exception. As usual, the course was in fine shape, surprisingly, in light of the ongoing drought. The fairways were in very good shape as were the greens. Everyone on staff was friendly as were my fellow players! I had a great time and will be back!! Good job, Flying L!!!
What a Fine Challenge!
Very mature course - the trees are huge and you must respect them. Absolutely have to hit the ball to spots on 14 holes to score. Great shape. Greens were semi-slow but very true rolling. Superb customer service. If I lived closer than 1-1/2 hours, I'd go twice a week. Value for money - fantastic. I wish I lived closer.
Much improved over past years.
It had been years since I had played Flying L and I was pleasantly surprised. Overall improvement was obvious when I drove into the parking lot. The fairways were green and mowed, the greens didn't have any bare spots and the putts rolled true. I will go back again.
Well maintained and had a great time.
Made reservation late the previous night and reservation was ready to go when we arrived early next morning. The course was busy, but played and flowed well. Great experience.
Fantastic value even at regular rates
Great course for amateurs!!! Very forgiving course, although a very bad shot will cost you....lol...staff is cordial, but don't expect a big welcome :-/
This course has great views
Great course to play, I went with my nephew and 5 year old son and we played 18 holes in 3 hours. We.could of finished quicker but we were just enjoying the surroundings. The course is in really good shape and all the greens are the same speed. Really a peaceful golf experience.
I really liked the cours.
woiuld play it again in a heartbeat. the course was in good shape.
Unfair holes
A few unfair hoes. Tree in middle of fairway is stupid. Hit a great drive on number 3 and 5 and was blocked out by tree!!
Flying L Ranch Golf Course is a Best Kept Secret!
First time playing the Flying L Golf Course. Course personnel were cordial and very friendly. The course was in great shape and well maintained. I will definitely put this on my short list for play in the near future.
This was a great place to play
Stayed there a week and played it 6 times they was easy to work with would let you go early if the course was clear. over all it was a great place to stay and play I will go back some time
Nice layout, good greens and friendly staffs. will play again.
It is an older get away place. Staffs are friendly. Love the layout and greens. Fairways could use some help. Members are polite and fun to play with. Don't expect five stars resort service. This is a rural country club for sure.
Great course, friendly staff
This course was in great shape, no signs of drought. The facilities are all very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. There are a couple of pretty challenging holes on the course and some really fun Par 3s. We had a great day and a lot of fun playing at Flying L.
